Was met by a strong east wind in Venice Sunday morning, so what to do- run west. That's the beauty of Venice. Popped out red pass to muddy water but ran up in the protected marsh behind sandy point and found relatively clean water moving around structure, dropped the Powerpole and game on. Not fast and furious but a limit of 16-20' slot reds in under an hour. Not a bad trip for the conditions.

Just pulled the SD card for the first time this year. Lots of young deer. No real shooters yet. Camera is in new location now.

Took my mother, wife and kids to the Pointe and put together a nice box. 75 trout total -mixed whites and specks. All but one caught at our first stop. Everyone had a blast!

Went to the Pointe today with a friend and my 9 year old who is on spring break(Mississippi school). We arrived at Bechel's around 8.30 to find a light wind but muddy water everywhere. By 11.30 we had boated only 1 fish,a red. We moved one last time and it was on. Caught our limit + numerous throwbacks. Watching my son was priceless. A great trip! Now waiting on the trout to turn on.

I'd put in at Lloyd's in Buras. Turn at the flag in Buras and get on the levee immediately north of where the road t's, single backdown ramp. From there cross the river and go through the cut. I'd advise following someone the first time. You will pop out in Quarantine Bay and no piece from Breton Sound. Easy run to Black Bay as well.

The one all the way in the back - bottom pic may be a shooter for me. I have a 11 and 9 year old that can shoot at will. Hoping for better / bigger this weekend.

Go with the bigger boat but have the engine checked out by someone who knows what they are doing - compression test is a must. I fish a 22 and want a 24. The bigger boat simply gives you more options of where to fish.

A comment titled: TC Encore in response to a report titled: TC Encore Info

I have a TC Encore Prohunter in 7MM REM MAG topped with a 2.5-10x50 Nikon Monarch BDC. The gun is awesome, shoots great, and has suprisingly low recoil(compared to my 7Mag Ruger m77). I have been a TC fan for years and must say there are no REAL cons with the Encore, but if there is a low point it would be the trigger. I just wish it came with an adjustable trigger like the TC Contenders had(have had one 20+yrs). Factory trigger is not bad at all - just not adjustable. I would buy another tomorrow. Just my .02

A comment titled: Break him in response to a report titled: a friend has a bear problem on his lease, LOL.

Take a few cans of hairspray and cover with peanut butter then roll in corn. Scatter these around your feeder. Bear will bite into can and will get hairspray explosion. No harm, but will break him of eating corn. I've been told it works well.

Been catching good trout at the rigs just north of stone island. Caught some 12-15" in cox bay. Been catching reds in Bay Law and along the shorelines at triple pass. Hope this helps. Beshels had live shrimp last weekend.
