How do y'all mount GoPros to y'alls shotguns? I know they make a mount for the screw cap for the fore end, but I have Vinci (which doesn't have a screw cap) so i was wondering if anyone has come up with some good ole fashion redneck innovation for mounting the GoPro else where on the gun.

What do you look for when making a decision when to hunt? I know wind and temperature are a big deal, but what more? I started keeping a log this year of my hunts, but cant make connections to what factors make deer move well. Any advice?

My buddy shot this thing on a piece of property around slaughter and we don't know what is wrong with this deer. At first he thought it was just a button buck, but after he looked through the scope, he saw the growths on the deer and decided to shoot it, seeing it was had to be a sick deer. The deer couldn't have weighted more than 100lbs, but had a head and neck of a 180lbs deer. After checking the teeth, it was probably around a one year old deer.
The horns are both broken off and have very little mass, so we thought the growth were just battle wounds. But after cleaning it, we saw that the growths were under the skin as well. Notice the arc of the snout on the deer, none of our deer on our property look like this. Also, the deer seemed to be abandoned by the herd, since it was the only deer we saw all morning. What do yall think?

he walked out right before dark and i had to give it to him. wind was wrong, it was hot, kind of rainy, and the deer werent moving. sat in the stand ALL day and this is the only one i saw. guess thats how deer hunting is.

we have a tripod stand at our property that alot of deer come by. the only problem is that the stand is very loud. especially the floor which is rusted metal. if anything drops on the floor, it makes a terribly loud noise. ive been able to fix most of the other problems on it, but the floor needs a cheap fix. are there floor mats that you can put in the stand. ive seen like a soft cushiony material in other blinds, but what are they called?

had been seeing this big buck all throughout the break, but never could make it happen. whether it was to dark to see through the scope, or he just never stopped sprinting. finally this morning the stars aligned. 30 minutes into the hunt, i turned to look down the shooting lane and he walked right out. i knew it was him when he bent down to eat and his horns contrasted with the grass, the first time i saw him, his huge brow tines stuck out like a sore thumb, so when i saw him this time i had no doubt. i licked my lips and turned to grab my gun and when i turned the seat, all the ice in the stand cracked and made a terribly loud noise. i turned to look at the deer and he looked right at me as to say, 'o you messed up.' and in two steps he was gone. worst feeling i have ever experienced, any chance ill see that deer again?

had a great day on the water. weather was perfect and the water was dead calm. took some of my pledge brothers from texas out to show them how to do it in louisiana. knock our limit of snapper out in 30 minutes by chumming them to the surface and getting our hits on artificial in only 55 feet of water. went after mangroves next, but the reds were so thick, they drove out the mangroves instantly. worked our way back in and picked up a nice cobia that couldnt say no to the yozuri.

has anyone made the venture offshore for the later season this year?

October 06, 2010 at 11:25am

alot of birds this morning but not too much luck. alot of mallards but they were all high but mainly all ringnecks. managed too get one lonely ring neck that cupped into the decoys. not too worried, i think the hunting is only going to get better as it gets colder.

A comment titled: hyachinth problem in response to a report titled: Water hyacinths!!!!!!!

we had a this problem and put decoys out. if you leave them out there for over a day, the hyacinths will cover the decoys and youll never see them again, however we had moving water on our lease. use a lilly boom(a barrier)
