Has anybody tried to catch any crawfish anywhere? I know it's early for wild caught because the water is still cold, but I'm itching to catch and boil up some. Saw a few people testing some waters out but just wondering if anybody knows for themselves or heard any word. Also, what's the best place to get some beef melt around Baton Rouge??

Been wanting to go squirrel hunting pretty bad and get away from LSU and work. I figured Sherburne was the closest public land to Baton Rouge but don't know the area that well. I'm looking for some pointers as to where would be a good spot to shoot some tree rats.

There is a scam going on around the site through the classifieds. My dad and I were victimized through a transaction involving a truck. The ad is for a 1999 Chevy Z71 for $3,000. The username is tnyclast and they scammed my father and I. They also used the military by giving the name of Sgt. Brian Eastland stationed in Fort Irwin, California, stating that he just wants to get rid of the truck because he was soon getting deployed to Afghanistan. They also used Google Checkout as a third party saying that they would hold the money transfer until we received the truck. Everything seemed legit and sincere, but after the transaction was made we haven't heard anything from him since. I did some more research and basically discovered it was a definite scam. This is just fair warning to my fellow Louisiana Sportsman in hopes of nobody getting the shaft like my father and I.

I had about a 4ft blacktip pass between me and my fish basket when I was down there a few weeks ago. It just came up and inspected my fish but they were all alive in a basket and he took off. My dad saw it and told me and I just stayed still and he swam off. Then a guy caught a 5ft bull shark about 100 yards away. Everybody got out but we stayed in the water fishing. Long stringers or a long line on your fish basket/bait is definitely the way to go when you're down there.

Which Spillway? Bonnet Carre or Morganza?

Seems like someone is jealous of this person or just trying to screw with him. If you notice, the old school cajun profile and the 225bout2kicksome1ass were created at around the same time and they happen to be in the same area. Something seems fishy, no pun intended.

I appreciate the input, fellas. And yeah, I still think it's early for most places but I don't mind scouting out a few places to know for sure.

A comment titled: selling wild? in response to a report titled: Crawfishing

I've seen pond crawfish for sale but not wild. I haven't had the time to really go scout. I know come March 15th I'm heading over the South Farm at Sherburne WMA and some of my old spots in the Spillway to catch them. But I'd appreciate the feedback if you do scout it out.

Coyotes aren't suppose to get to 85 lbs, especially down here. It definitely doesn't look like one either. Looks almost like a wolf or someone's pet got loose...might want to bring this to LDWF and get it checked out. If it is a yote, then it's a beast

Made a trip last weekend out to Hopedale and struck out on the specks but loaded the boat with nice white trout over in Lake of Two Trees. And caught a lot of lady fish and Spanish macks at the rocks.

Okuma spinning reel on a 7ft castaway rod or allstar rod. The Okuma holds up against the saltwater and are great reels for a not too expensive price.

A comment titled: mistakes in response to a report titled: Scam

I saw all the signs that it was a scam when it was too late. I guess I was just blinded because I was in desperate need to find my dad a reliable truck at an affordable price because of our financial situation. Being young, inexperienced, and having too much faith in people got me hook, lined, and caught like all the fish I catch. Now I know how the fish feel....
And I'm disappointed in myself because I let my dad down...lessons learned the hard way.

A comment titled: Record in response to a report titled: MISSISSIPPI RIVER MONSTER !!!!!!

You should get that fish weighed! It could be a new world record. The current one is from Virginia at 143 pounds. If it's not a world record it's most likely a state record! I'd love to know how much that beast weighs!

I've seen some over the past couple years on my grandma's property in DeSoto Parish in Mansfield. There's also a black cougar that I've seen a couple times. They got to my grandma's chicken and goats a few times.
