A comment titled: Re: Food Plot Problem in response to a report titled: Food Plot Problem

when planting lablab in our summer plots we put up a perimeter of ribbon and spray the ribbon with deer away. It keeps the deer out of the plots until the lablab is mature enough to withstand.

Also, could it be turkeys or birds eating up all the seeds?

Im confused as to how this is the my mom and dad still pay my bills look. I have a finance degree and enjoy wearing boots, costas, fishing shirts and driving a nice truck to either work at my office or to a day with the family. Is it your understanding that one needs to have his name on his shirt in order to look professional?

Coming from Baton Rouge we always called them sacalait. When I moved to Ponchatoula 10 years ago everyone called them white perch, so now I call them white perch. If I say sacalait, I get that 'your not from around here' look.

A comment titled: deer numbers in response to a report titled: north of clinton, La Deer numbers

I'm north of Clinton between Liberty and Centreville. We havent notices any decline in deer. If anything, I see more deer now than in the past. We have 1400 acres with about 8 members that actually hunt. 1-11 point, and 5-8 points have been taken so far this year. Im not sure the number on does so far. We've never been a club that sees deer every hunt but I've been there for 10 years and see no real changes in our herd.

DAX, Brent Young is my brother in law. He had been forwarding me the trail cam photos you were sending him of this monster. I was very excited for you when I heard you had gotten a shot at him and then later when you recovered the magnificent buck! You and that deer are pretty famous, as I've seen multiple pictures from multiple sources being passed around. Again, congratulations on such a truly once in a lifetime buck! Oh, are there any openings at your club next year, LOL!

From now on, let it be known the proper pose will be the fish out to the side, or on the ground, or back behind off in the distance, etc...

Capt. Bob,

What tide station do you use for Leeville Tide Forecast? Pelican Island station and add or subtract hours? or also I see a Texaco Dock Hackberry Bay station, is this the Hackberry Bay near Little Lake and should I be using this one? Thanks...

A comment titled: new classifieds in response to a report titled: Classifieds Update

The only problem I have with the new format is its now more difficult to spot a scam ad at a glance. Before I could easily read the description without actually opening up the ad. It was just easier to delete the scam ad in the old format, this adds an additional step of making sure the ad is truly a scam ad and Im not deleting a valid ad. Overall though, I do like the new format. JB will understand what Im talking about.

A comment titled: Gobbles in response to a report titled: Turkeys gobblingg

Went opening day at my lease between Centreville and Liberty. Heard 4 different birds gobbling but stopped just before 8am then not a sound. The one I went for must have gotten hen'ed up and passed by me just out of sight. I could hear the hens but ole Tom wasnt making a sound and didnt care about my sexy calls or decoy.

A comment titled: Now thats a great idea! in response to a report titled: LDWF SLAUGHTER FROM THE AIR

Who do I know with a fast boat to keep up with the choppers cause Im loadin up on left behind pigs! I do have to say though, if the LDWF would have adjusted the regulations on wild hogs 5 or so years ago in the Pearl WMA to allow hunters to 'get ahead of situation' as they should have, then there would be no need for the taxpayers to foot the bill for some agents to go get their kicks while shooting some pigs from helos all while leaving the meat to rot and waste. But then again, when have politicians or law enforcement ever thought logically.

A comment titled: 17 vs 22mag in response to a report titled: Hog regulations need to change on WMA's!

From what I've researched, you are better off shooting hogs with a 22 magnum over a 17hmr. If you truly are able to achieve proper shot placement then a 22lr will put them down, hell an air gun will put them down. But since we are talking about hunting in a WMA in a real life situation and not in a 100 acre pen as seen on TV, a precisely placed shot will most likely not be achieved. Anyway back to my point, forget about the 17hmr and get the 22 Mag and get an autoloader instead of a bolt action because the follow up shots really come in handy when wanting to actually recover the hog.

A comment titled: South PRWMA in response to a report titled: Honey Island Swamp Hog Hunting

I know when I head to the southern portion of the pearl to hunt pigs, I want to be as high as possible to see out over the tall marsh grass. From my experience, I've rarely seen pigs right on the waters edge down on the southern portion they are usually a little ways off the bank in the tall grass which would make them impossible to see from a low sitting kayak.
