New To Sportsman Network?

What is so surprising about a Louisiana resident getting cited for illegally taking game and not having the proper licensing. As in the past, another individual has done something to give Louisiana another black eye. Someone becomes successful in the outdoor industry AND was a member of, AND was the head of the state wildlife commission which is the governing body when it comes to wildlife rules and regulations AND goes and does something as ludicrous as killing a calf elk and tries to cover it up? I guess that is what happens when a person gets used to being able to do whatever they want because of their position in society. Rules apply to the peasants not the ;Royalty;!! 95% of the sportsman follow all of the rules and regulations handed down because it is what's right for our wildlife resources and usually they make sense. He should have been banned from hunting for life in my opinion. But that's all it is, is an opinion

Hey Swamp Lizard, The IT dept with this site has always been lacking. I have removed ads only to be contacted by someone 5 years later asking if the item is still for sale. Their statement about items for sale says it can only be sportsmen related items yet there are posts for household items or racing cars and god knows what else. I have been told by the administrators of this site that my account would be cancelled unless I pulled an ad to sell Lab puppies or pay to be a site sponsor. The ad was for an uncle of mine who had puppies for sale. The administrators claimed that I was a business and I was told that the ad wasn't 'fair to paying sponsors' REALLY?? Did they check with the state for a business license that I supposedly had? I know they didn't find one. lol. So does that mean a regular person can't sell a truck or gun because it isn't fair to the site sponsors who pay money to sell their products. This site is getting to be pathetic.

MathGeek, you are so correct. Every time you turn around someone out there wants to impose their will and beliefs on everyone else. The people we elect to office have decided on the rules and regulations to be followed when it comes to hunting. I cant say every rule makes 100% complete sense but those are the regulations. If you as a responsible hunter do not like to hunt with a scoped single shot rifle that is allowed under law as a primitive weapon, then DON'T USE ONE! Use a flintlock. It will be a hell of an accomplishment to take an animal with one. But hey, this is America and everyone is allowed their opinion. It's called free speech

My apologies Top Tagger. I'm not too proud to say so when I stand corrected but your thread did say ' to ALL you idiots with light bars on your boat'. I understand your being frustrated with the lack of respect and common sense but unfortunately society does not allow for the removal from the gene pool or for not allowing to procreate those who lack both. But who knows what the future holds lol

Mandevillian, there always those who think that their way is the only way. It's a shame they don't run around with people who do have respect and common sense. Those two qualities would definitely make our world a better place. The only perfect person who ever lived walked on water. I don't think anyone alive today can make that claim. So we are relegated to dealing with the imperfection that is out there and hope that we can make it through everyday without running into those who lack respect and common sense. Have a safe one:)

Hey Sherlock, to use a french term, the world is full of Avocat's. If you aren't familiar with term, ask a Cajun. If it isn't against the law to use a light bar then it's a moot point. But basically is comes down to respect and common sense. There are plenty out there who lack both or either. Putting all boater's who have a light bar into the same category shows that you fall into one of the aforementioned categories.

As a boat owner with a light bar, let me say this. I'm 58 years old and have been running around in the Basin all of my adult life. That light bar is the best thing since sliced bread. There are trees that have fallen over and are navigation hazards. Not to mention trees floating in the water and the millions of stumps. If you think it's perfectly fine to run around out there without a light then maybe you are the hazard . I can't count the number of times I have almost hit something with a Q-beam!! The light bars you hate are a no brainer for safety. Now it IS called respect to turn it off when meeting up with another boat in a narrow waterway. But I can just about guarantee that when you hit something because of your 'perfect' night vision, either the local sheriff's dept or the LDWF agents that investigate it will say, 'WHAT WAS THAT IDIOT DOING OUT THERE WITHOUT A LIGHT'!!
