9pt. killed in Crosby Miss. on 12-10. He was coming to look for the ladies.
What is the stock # for the 175gr. hornady?
are you shooting no more than 3 round at a time. and then let cool fully?
I have used the Barnes Vortex 180 gr rounds with good success.
I cannot find it in the regs. All it says is under the age of 16 dont need a license. If he does not have a hunters ed card I would have a licensed huntyer with him. i wouls also call headquarters to confirm this.
You can get the H&R handi rifle in 7mm-08 (get the adult it only comes with the wood stock).I sell the syn. youth stock and forearm for these. change to the youth stocks and when he outgrows them put the adult wood stocks back on. Remington has the managed recoil ammo for the 7mm-08. I like this caliber over the .243 140 grais instead of 100 grains. I also have 1 7mm-08 handirifle in stock and about 10 bx. of the remington managed recoil ammo. Here is the link to the stock
H&R 44 with the nikon is the ticket
here are my recommendations:
7mm-08 not much kick and comes in reduced recoil loads.
44 mag if distance is 125yds and closer.
.243 will do the job but if you hit a deer with a marginal hit you probably wont find him. I like a heavier bullet in the 130-140gr. range . The.243 biggiest bullet is 100 grs.( unless you handload)
.223 will do the job but is is too light.
kids and most adults get excited at a deer sighting and shot placement will be the key. a little bigger bullet will make up for a marginal shot. get them shooting .22 and move up from there. dont just hand them a larger conterfire rifle and scare them with the recoil.
JB NO PROBLEM GLAD I CAN HELP YOU OUT. H&R WILL PAY THE SHIPPING JUST CALL THEM AND MAKE THEM. YOU CAN ALSO USE REYNARDSONS GUNS ON HOOPER ROAD THEY ARE A REMINGTON WARRENTY PLACE.
I have had about 5-6 comeback out of 100. You can try the CVA but they are in short supply. I still love my H&R 444 it shoot 1' at 100Yds.
JB Is correct it is the trigger spring and the luck of the draw. I have had customers that bought 444,45/70,and 35 whelen guns and had misfires. I dont know if it was H&R or Remington (when they bought the company) that redesigned the hammer spring but they have had bad batches of they coming thru. They will warrenty it but it does suck to have to send a new gun back.
Congrats Tic Tac! did that 444 get him?
H&R still makes the S.S. 444 Ultra Hunter but they only make it for one Dist.. They have not shipped out one of these yet this year. I am putting together a waiting list for those that want them when they finally do ship. Give me a call if interested. Thanks 225-206-1908
She had no choice. She wanted the kids to see it and that is the only highpoint (where the swing usually is)to hang it. it is on the back patio.

Man Blain they are on your AZZ!! Glad you woke up in time to shoot it. Nice deer. By the way 2,2,1.5 will not do it!!!! USW ROCKS!!
Maybe I can get him to be quiet at work now!!!!! Congrats Darby. I know that I am still proud of the first one I was able to put on the wall.
The scope is good for close range. You dont need open sights. the scope sits up higher and you cant see the sights in the evening.
