I would really like to get my hands on a 'good' pair of shrimp boots, low on the leg that would actually last more than a season. Wife says she's in for Xmas.Could anyone point her in the right direction on a good product.Price is not an issue,durabilty is. Anything close to BR. Thanks.

To all of us strange people that still go to 'The Pointe'. You don't need to go far. Go from 1st to second lake and turn right. Fish that whole shore and run through third lake down to Battleground to finish in reds.The trout are nice and everywhere. No WLF enforcement, but doing research on your catch. Beshels store is back up, no fuel,but beer.Tell Robert, Duttie, and Brian 'Hi'.

Going out Monday from Point a la Hache. Asking only because the pressure is on taking daughter.

The US Coast Guard now offers a free check of your boat. It is called a VSC, Vessel safety check. They go over your boat bow-stern and you will not fail. They will give you pointers for free on how to make your rig safer. You will get a sticker to go near your reg numbers. With any luck the LDWF will see that you have had a CG inspection and will only want to see fish and jackets. It.... Read More

Does anyone know of a source for a good duck bill for a pushpole that will not corrode? I'm looking for one that might be galvanized,or stainless. I'm just tired of these cheap ones. I've cold galved and they just don't last in a salty environment. Any help would be appreciated.

Had a great weekend fishing Pointe a la Hache. Caught some really nice 18-20 inch trout.If you have never tried Bait-Buddies, you should. After about 4 hours, dropped in the tablets and you would think you had shrimp on cocaine. They were jumping all over and hard to put on a hook. Picked them up at Academy. Good price and well worth it for a long day on the water.
The WDF has a shrimp closure for 7/11. As much as I have read their site, I'm still lost. Can anyone tell me if I can legally pull my trawl to catch some bait at Pointe a la Hache and Breton Sound? Thanks!!!

I don't believe you can pull a trawl for any thing once....
Fished Pointe a la Hache Friday with live shrimp. Ran out to Stone Island,10 boats on the south side ,no bent rods.
Went to the west end and got on a slow bite. Pulled in 6 trout around 15-17". Another boat pulled in nearby, caught zip, and left. Ran back to Belle Island, picked up a few. Total catch 14. The river is still up and the water does not improve until Belle. Had some good.... Read More

I was down there two weeks ago and it still was not....
Can anyone tell me if the Manchac Lighthouse is still standing? Did it survive the storms? It has always been one of my daughters favorite places and I would like to run out there again. Any help would be appreciated

It seemed like anybody that had a rod showed up at Beshels in Pointe a La Hache Sat.am It was a great day to fish and I think most people caught a lot of trout. The hard falling tide caught some out plowing marsh. Gustav has made some changes. The reason I'm posting is that the Coast Guard offers a vessel safety check which is free. Does anyone know of a commercial food to feed bass when stocking a lake. A friend is trying to stock his pond and has had good results with feeding them minnows and small bream, which he catches in a nearby creek. They don't seem to want dry dog food and he is looking for a product he can buy to feed them on a regular basis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
