We caught a small Mangrove Snapper while fishing the Rocks on the MRGO last weekend. I have caught quite a few on the rocks in the intracoastal near Boh Bros. pre-K; but none since the MRGO closure. I hear they are catching striped bass and even black bass in the hot water canal and industrial canal post-K. I wish it would have been 12', cuz his happy arse would have taken an ice nap! Fun.... I have fished the tressles 3 times so far this past few weeks. Every trip was evening. We have caught a total of 3 specks, 1 white trout and almost boated a small flounder. We go 100% plastic, no sea crickets (saw people with live still not catching). I cannot put a finger on why we have not at least caught a few more. I know how to jig the bridges, but we cannot find a bite! I will say.... Read More

I keep hearing different stories on the upcoming season. I hear we are going non-conpliant and it begins march 24 with 3 fish limit in STATE waters, which may or may not be extended out to 10 miles. LDWF gives caution to actually taking red snapper out past the old 3 mile mark. I also am hearing that the Wizzards in big gov't have decided to close the 'federal' season altogether since we went.... Read More
Guy's, it's time to break down and replace my tattered boat cover on my 1810V Pathfinder. Does anyone recommend a specific cover at a reasonable price? The beam is 102'; it has the tall console and measures 18'10', plus the motor. I was gonna get one at Academy; it looks legit for $179. Any feedback is appreciated.
Had fair hunting in Delacroix, both Sat. and Sunday. How did Hopedale hunters do this weekend? I have a property on that side too. May try it next time out. Isaac took all the SAV on the delecroix side. Some of the widgeon grass made it on the Hopedale side and may be holding more ducks. I did get 1 report from Boloxi WMA from Sat. and it was fair, but not great.
My son and I had a great youth hunt day on Sunday. We were able to do a duck hunt in the am with a full limit on the water in 12 minutes(3GW, 2 greys, 1 redhead). Then the evening hunt went better than expected in the deer woods. We hoped to get a shot on a fat doe; but, instead he had a nice 7pt step out just before the sun set. He made a great shot at about 100 yards to drop the buck in its.... Read More
Has anyone user the On Time Buck Boiler for do it yourself Euro/Skull mounts? I have read some great reviews, but wanted some homegrown feedback regarding this product. mainly what I want to know is how 'clean' do you need to get the skull prior to using the boiler. Do the eyes and brains need to be removed before boiling it? Does it really do the job right with little effort post boil? Any.... Read More
Hit the marsh Saturday for the teal opener. It was pretty slow with only a handfull of teal buzzing around. There were plenty Motts and woodies. My blind took 5 by 8am and we had to pull the plug. The other blind managed a 2 man limit by 8:30 or so. the marsh took a serious beating and the feed is non-existant now. I hope we have an influx of fresh water from the diversion to flush the.... Does anyone know if the launch over the levee at the Belair pump station is usable? Heard the DC launch at Scarsdale is inoperable from debris and mud.
Does anyone know if any of the boat ramps are accessible at Delacroix or Hopedale yet? I heard that BSM was operable. Also, I have not seen any updated aerial maps of those areas yet; just wondering if the marsh was severly altered like after Katrina. Has anyone been able to acess the conditions including major debris, obstructions etc... I know things are still rough as clean up efforts.... Read More
Has anyone seen any updated aerial photos of the Delacroix marsh? I know after Katrina the entire marsh complex looked like a bomb went off and rolled the marsh up like a carpet and spit it out ontop of St. Benard parish. My duck lease took major damage then; just wondering what Issac did. Hope all is well for those effected.
It has been many moons, but I used to fish with a friend out of Belle Pass in the GI blocks somewhere. Mangroves were the order of the day with a few smaller genuines too. We always did pretty good, but in my youthfulness, I didn't pay attention to important stuff, like where I was! Anyway, I was looking at a map and wondered how far out do you need to go to get into 'snapper' waters. I see.... Read More
Does anyone know if a commercial rod n reel license can be purchased in order to be allowed to sell your catch to willing buyers? years ago, i believe someone told me they are available but not easy to obtain. Anyway, been catching enough to keep me interested lately on the tressles. But the size has dramatically gone down recently.
Hey guys, i picked up a Pelican 116 fishing kayak a few months ago used. I have only had the chance to put it in the water 2 time so far. my question is does anyone know if there is an upgraded seat back available from the standard unit? It is very uncomfortable and I figured someone must make a better one. thanks.
Been hearing about a new compact spinnerbait by Stanley called the Egret Speed Bump. I believe its a 1/4oz head on a smaller frame designed for 1/8oz; or so I have read. I cannot find anything on them on Google. Where can I get them and are they traditional ridgid frame or beetle-spin type frame? Thanks.
Guys, I have been struggling to get my boat off the trailer without the bowstem hanging up and forcing me to do monkey manuvers to 'lift' it over the bow stop in order to release it. Also when loading; unless I juice it to jump bowstem over stop; it smashes into bow tip. Anyway, time is tight & I need to fix the prob. Should I lower the bow stop to where the eye sits on top the roller; or.... Read More
Ultimate Gig Lights
Hey Fellow Founder gigger, my new LED gig lights are top notch and have helped me gig more flounder than ever before. In both 110 or 12 Volt, these new gig lights are the best!
I caught five at the bayou b. Locks about a month....
