Boats in Southeast Louisiana
50 HP Mercury too strong?
I have a 16'x48' custom welded flat bottom, square bow, boat from Custom Flats in Violet, St. Bernard. My 25 HP Yamaha 2-stroke, tiller is not strong enough to push the boat with 2 guys, 3 coolers for fish, drink/food, and life bait, extra battery and trolling motor, and gear. Could get a used 50 HP Mercury 2-stroke, tiller motor. Is this too strong a motor for the boat?
