Anyone have opinions on the fishing conditions in Lacassine other than good water levels? Hoping it will be better than the last couple of years.

Does anyone have any experience with putting hay bales in a brackish marsh to basically build up and grow a natural island?
Friends of mine have told me it works well.

Had decent shooting the first 2 days at our place in Holly Beach. 12 hunters killed 47 Saturday, 12 hunters killed 51 Sunday. Mostly greys, teal and a few widgeon, pintail. See what happens this week and weekend. Be safe

Big numbers of grey ducks seen at my last visit to the lease in the Holly Beach area. Not many teal seen but expect to see more teal in the coming days leading up to the opener. Marsh is full of widgeon grass, should be a good year in the area.

Had a good opener to the 2nd split. Greys,teals,etc. We are on pace for our best season in over 10 years in the Holly Beach area of Cameron Parish. Although not as many teal as years past, we have plenty of big ducks.

Overall a good first split for us in the Holly Beach area. Limits to near limits basically every hunt. Lots of greys, but not as many teal as usual for us. Hoping for some cold weather during the split!!

Had good shooting on the first 2 days. lots of greys,teal and a few widgeon. need some more cold weather to bring some new birds down in the area. But all in all, it was good.

Only 3 days left till the opener and we have been blessed with good habitat and lots of birds. As in years past my hunting buddies and me are always talking about hunting safety. I hope everyone has a safe waterfowl season and stay safe.

Youth weekend is a great time to introduce kids to waterfowl hunting. I enjoy watching kids shoot and the learning curve it takes to be a die-hard duck hunter. The future of the sport depends on these young people and the desire they will have as adults to protect the resources we have been blessed with !!

Hunting partner went down to lease south of Sabine on Sunday afternoon and seen plenty of teal, pintail and a few greys mixed in. Looks to be a good opener.

Had a friend that works in the area told me that the water....
My hunting partner went to our place at the beach yesterday and says there are big bodies of ducks throughout the marsh.Teal, greys and even some mallards. Looks to be a good opener this Saturday. Any reports from the Sabine/Holly Beach area?

Been under the weather since Sunday. Has anyone got any good reports from the Holly Beach/Sabine area on duck numbers/kills?

An Ole Miss Rebel fan/old friend of mine was down here hunting with me the last couple of days and gives me a mallard machine by Mojo. We did not use it at my place in the marsh ( don't know why ? ) He had an extra one and wanted me to try and give feedback to him.
He says that they work real well in the MS delta. Anyone out there using them in the marshes of SW Louisiana?

Started with a bang the first 5 days or so at our place in Holly Beach, killing limits every hunt at every blind. The last few have been quite slow. Hunted yesterday , 3 guys killed : 5 pintails, 2 smilers , and 1 teal.

the first 2 days were great. all of our blinds limited both days. Mostly teal, with greys, pintail and mottled ducks mixed in. some guys hunted this morning and kill limits but was slower than the weekend. Heading out tomorrow with this dry front coming in tonite to see and try to keep it going!!

Pathfinder, no reports but would imagine it raised the....
Went to lease in Holly Beach yesterday, water levels look just right and saw a good number of teal, a few mottled ducks, but very few greys as of yet. I would assume Sabine just north of us will also have good shooting for the opener.
