Anyone have coordinates for the new reef northeast of California Point? I called CCA and the nice lady was only to happy to oblige, unfortunately her coordinates were near Southwest Pass, maybe she thought I was in the Tarpon mode as that's certainly a good location she had. I met Capt. Ryan Roy from First Cast Fishing Charters at Houston Marine while upgrading my Tugboat license. Last week I spent a day scouting different areas of Delacroix, of course I ran into shrimp getting hammered by Trout. It's never a bad idea when one is mechanically inept as I am to take one's favorite mechanic (Sal's Marine) and good friend fishing. Although it sounds like a match made in heaven, seldom does it work out as one might think.

The Tarpon have begun arriving as usual in the West Delta area near block 58. A few big schools were spotted but anglers who fished for them this past weekend had a tough time spotting fish due to the seas. Myself and crew spent 4 days (Friday through Monday) fishing from Myrtle Grove. We fished from South Lafitte to Grand Isle, the beaches, Barataria Bay, inside Myrtle Grove, and Four Bayou Pass. Fished from Sweetwater Marina the last couple of days, fortunately finding Trout all over place. Scott (nightfisher) and I fished Sunday only catching 28 Trout but with the water cleaning up and good tide we knew it was a matter of time before they would feed well.

Departed Sweetwater Marina Friday morning with my father, headed straight to the islands between Bay Gardene and Bay Crabe. The incoming tide took a while to get started so we waited it out as we were still picking up Trout slowly. Around 10 a.m. the tide picked up some steam then the bigger Trout responded. With the water temperature 60 degrees and little tide movement, we decided to work the flats in less than 2 feet of water. Fished with Barry D. Sunday and Monday out of Sweetwater Marina Delacroix this week. Although we are still catching Trout on the bottom of Oak River and in the holes, once the surface water temps. climbed to 65 degrees the Trout fanned out across the bays. Fall like fishing again with the Trout thick in Pt. Fienne, Bay Jack Nevette, and Skippy Bay.
