Well I don't think Mike is going to talk to me for a week after losing a Tarpon after two jumps at Northeast Pass. One benefit of fishing inside the 3 mile line, Mike brought a Redfish home for the grill.

The Tarpon are here my friends, many fish spotted over the weekend, only five were released but it only gets better from here.

I get a lot of messages from fisherpeople interested in catching these beautiful creatures so here's your chance. The G.N.O.T.C. hosts meetings before every tournament, the Grand Isle Meeting is tonight. Yes I know it's last minute but I'm about as good as a.... Read More

Just had to post to quiet Capt. Kim, 'The water is low, they're not going to bite, they're living off their body fat.' REALLY NOW?! Hope your surgery pain goes away soon because the drugs they gave to you ain't doing you no good.

Fished Wilkinson Bayou (not the canal @ M.G.) 1/2 mile north of Wilkinson Bay today. Found them on my depth finder in 12 feet of water stacked.... Read More

Trout fishing gurus! The Trout are cold, buried, and in survival mode. When the sun heats up the water a few degrees today they're going to aCt a dOnKeY, they're starving! Another cold front on it's way, one doesn't need a road map, a fishing pole will suffice. Wait them out, if you get off the water too early you're going to miss the bite. Happy New Year blah blah blah, go.... Read More

Because I bring Sal from Sal's Marine Trout fishing often and am such a good customer he's teaching me how to bowhunt. I wore my hunter orange too as Sal said safety is very important however, something doesn't feel right. Sal said something about this being a great way to see the winds effect on the trajectory of the arrow. Anyone else learn this way, Sal's a great friend huh?!

Due to the additions I keep adding, my skiff was delayed in completion for another week. However, my good friends have kept me in a boat and on fish while I await my own. It\'s a great time to say thanks during the holidays and I have a lot for which to be thankful.

Fished Geohegan Canal with Scott Walker Tuesday and as usual Scott put us all over some nice Trout. Sure is nice.... Read More

I know it's nothing new to see different patterns on fish, this one just caught my attention. The picture didn't do it justice, the specks on this Trout are tiny in comparison. Interesting that the fin displayed closer to normal size specks. I caught this Trout out of Myrtle Grove on Friday.

I hope y'all also get to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities on your time off. Some of us (like me) have to work so we enjoy a vicarious and sometimes envious experience through the many great reports. Thank you!

These shots are of the Tarpon we Dna tagged & released this past weekend, the Tarpon are still here in good numbers. Fishing aboard the m/v Pass a Good Time with Mike and Brendon, between Friday and Sunday we found Tarpon in up to 70' of water but all of our strikes came from 20' feet or less of water, happens some times. Tarpon were also spotted in West Delta and Southwest Pass. .... Read More

Finally the stars are starting to align, the river has been down, the winds were light and the Tarpon were cooperating. We hit South Pass at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, hooked five Tarpon, DNA tagged and released three of them. Darren caught an 80 lb. fish, Mike caught a 175 lb., and I caught a 150 lb. Tarpon. All estimates of course as they were released after DNA samples were taken. Days like.... Read More

It's a ride I'll never make again but was certainly something I wanted to do once. Well actually I call it twice, the first and last time I'll ever run my 24' bay from Lake P. to the Chandeleur Islands.

Fished with Scott Walker and his son Stephen Wednesday, a long journey but we rewarded with a 120 quart ice chest loaded with fish. Had a great bite going on Chandeleur after dodging acres.... Read More

Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
Anyone have coordinates for the new reef northeast of California Point? I called CCA and the nice lady was only to happy to oblige, unfortunately her coordinates were near Southwest Pass, maybe she thought I was in the Tarpon mode as that's certainly a good location she had. CCA was supposed to announce the coordintates upon completion but I cannot find a thing. Just get me close, the.... Read More

Monday 4/22 was another windy day out of Sweetwater Marina in Delacroix and the water

although clearing up from the east winds was still a bit dirty. After three stops fishing deep in mostly dirty water with only a few Trout to show for it, I decided to run towards the easterly winds to meet the cleaner water. When crossing Four Horse Lake I noticed the water clearing up so I shut down to.... Read More

With the pending weather and only one day off due to unforeseen work issues, John Rucker and I decided to make the most of it. I just had to be on Delacroix Island, spend some time with Capt. Jack to see the progress on the new launch ramp, and spend some quality time on the water.

Without any agenda we were able to accomplish it all. The ramp is nearing completion, these are the first.... Read More

  • 50 Trout Limit with Capt. Ryan Roy Monday 12-3-12
I met Capt. Ryan Roy from First Cast Fishing Charters at Houston Marine while upgrading my Tugboat license. We decided to make a trip today (Monday) but I'm getting wary of these east coast guys (Hopedale) infringing on our Delacroix turf. We had a pretty good day with Trout number 50 hitting the box at 9 a.m. but I think the Trout Gods are upset with me. Believe it or not it was not a one.... Read More

It's never a bad idea when one is mechanically inept as I am to take one's favorite mechanic (Sal's Marine) and good friend fishing. Although it sounds like a match made in heaven, seldom does it work out as one might think.

Of course nothing would go wrong with the boat, not even a hiccup with a mechanic on board. Of course that didn't translate into making him a fisherman either. When.... Read More

Last week I spent a day scouting different areas of Delacroix, of course I ran into shrimp getting hammered by Trout. I had two poles on the bow with me, one rigged with a Matrix Shad under cork and a Top Dog Jr. When I cast the Matrix Shad the Trout would hit my cork, when I cast the Top Dog Jr. I was getting very few hits and certainly missing the Trout below it so I figured out a way to.... Read More
