Fished the Little lake and Bayou St. Denis area on Friday morning of last week and found very good water and schooling Reds running the banks. It was so cool to see and watch those reds attack your bait when you casted your bait in their direction. There was hardly any wind which helped spot those schools of reds. We were using Gold Bladed Spinner Baits and Gold Spoons. It was almost and exact.... Read More
Fished the Little lake area on Thursday of last week and found very good water and hungry Reds running the banks. Even ran into a few small schools which was pretty neat to see in the clear water. Hardly any wind which helped spot those big reds moving. We were using Gold Bladed Spinner Baits and Gold Spoons. I even managed one nice Red on a Chrome and Blue Back Rattle Trap.
Friday afternoon and Saturday morning we fished the 3 Bayou Bay areas and picked up a few reds. We then moved to Bay L’Ours and Brussels, nickeling and diming a few reds here and there. We finally finished off the day Saturday in some ponds off of Little Lake. Hardly any wind and very clear water made for some great site fishing but very hot conditions. All of our Reds where caught on Gold.... Read More
Last Sunday we fished the Little Lake area and got on a pretty steady bite from about 8:30am till 10:00am. In that time frame we boated 10 nice keepers and about a dozen throw back rat reds. The best part of the morning was Celina was using a Zebco 33 with 12lb test line and boated her first ever red and what a whooper. It went 11 pounds and took her about 5 minutes to fight this big fish before.... Read More
BIL (Brother-In-Law) and I fished some ponds in and around the Texaco Canals and found good clean water and plenty of reds willing to hit our artificial. The wind had laid down and the site fishing was on! All fish came from gold bladed spinner baits and gold spoons. It just don’t get much better than that!
Friday morning I had my close friend Nathan come in with his two sons and even with all the bad weather we managed to catch some very nice reds. When the winds would allow we would venture out into Little Lake and when the Thunderstorms moved in we headed back into protected waters. I ended up catching a very nice flounder on a spinner bait which was pretty cool. All fish were caught on gold.... Read More
I took a few friends to some cuts along Mud Lake to try our luck on some bull reds and they were not disappointed. In no time we were hooked up and fighting reds up to 20 lbs. On several occasions we would have a double hooked up at the same time. It was pretty cool to sit back and watch the action and excitement! We were using cut mullet and cracked crab fished on the bottom.
The morning started off slow but the action really picked up by 10:00am and finished the morning out with some solid Reds by noon time. We ended up moving from the little lake area into some ponds. All reds were caught on gold bladed spinner baits and gold spoons. Unbelievable amount of undersize reds caught, should be a great fall and spring when those rats grow up!
I had some relatives come in from Tennessee this past weekend and we spent a few days chasing the reds. The bite was extremely slow and managed only a hand full of reds each trip out (Morning/Evening). We fished the rocks in Little Lake with bait shrimp and were able to catch some smaller Reds and Sheephead. I took them to several holes and we fished cracked crab and cut mullet. They caught.... Saturdays Red fish bite was slow but we managed so very nice reds in some ponds around the Little Lake area. We found clear water with bait fish and that was the ticket. We worked the area over hard and it would produce Reds. All reds were caught on gold spoons and or gold bladed spinner baits fished around the grass beds.
We started off fishing the Little Lake area in the morning and when the action slowed we moved to the Airplane Bay area and finished out the day with a nice mess of Reds. Along the way we picked up on some nice Flounder and a few Specs. We also ended up with four Reds topping the scales at over 10 pounds. All fish were caught on gold bladed spinner baits and gold spoons.
I had the opportunity this week to make a turkey/hog hunt in south Texas with my close friend and what a blast it was. We hunted a ranch near Crystal City and the gobblers were in full rut. On the first morning hunt I worked a big gobbler for over an hour and videoed him strutting with 4 hens. About 2 hours later I called in 3 big gobblers and took a nice one, He had a 9 3/8” beard and 1 ½”.... Read More
My Bride and I were able to make it out on Saturday mid-morning for a short trip and fished the Three Bayou Bay area and managed five nice reds and several undersize ones. Annette was using a 1/2oz gold spoon and I was using the gold bladed spinner bait with the morning glory plastic body. Her best red topped the scales at a little over 10lbs. Windy and muddy conditions but the Reds were there.
We arrived at our camp on Friday afternoon to a really bad thunderstorm which was parked right over Lafitte. There was even some hail falling at one point with some very strong winds, so we decided to stick around and do some camp chores instead of trying a late afternoon fishing trip. Saturday we woke to stiff north winds and decided to make the run down to little lake and Brussels area. Found.... Read More
We fished Friday on the south side of little lake mainly to get out of the stiff south winds. Worked the rock jetties first then moved into area ponds. Picked up 15 nice keepers and released 40+ smaller reds. I like seeing all those smaller Reds which shows there was a good hatch/recruitment last year. All Reds were caught on Gold bladed spinner baits, Gold Spoons, and some were caught on bait.... Read More
I fished with my Bride on Saturday morning and again fished the south side of little lake and area ponds to get away from the stiff south winds. It did not take long and we were both hooked up on some very nice Reds. While running gold blade spinner baits along grass lines my bride landed two very nice specs which made her day with her limit of reds. Also caught plenty of smaller reds which is a.... Read More
Here is a neat video I took while making a late season hunt on my Buddies ranch in south Texas Zavala County . He wanted to have a few more Does and Spikes removed from his heard based on their heard count/survey and subscribed by their wildlife biologist. I was happy to assist and always love hunting that south Texas brush country. The neatest thing was I witness was on our last afternoon we.... Read More
Here is a video I took while hunting Public Land in Wyoming this past November 2012. The weather was awesome and we saw a lot of deer. The neat part is every day we would see fresh cougar tracks along the creek bottoms and sometimes on top of our tracks from the day before. We hunted for 6 days and seen on the average about 30 deer per day. There was a lot of walking to get away from the road.... Read More
After finishing up my hunt in Wyoming we moved down to Nebraska to make the November 10th opener. I arrived a few days earlier and had my turkey gear with me knowing I could have and awesome fall turkey hunt. I was not disappointed as I was able to take 2 nice gobblers my first afternoon hunt, my hunting buddy Rodney was sitting with me and also took two nice gobblers. We had over 40 turkeys.... Read More
Here is a neat video I took of 16 year old Mikey taking a 9pt from a private ranch in Kerr County Texas during the Thanksgiving week break. This was his first rack buck and what a neat deer to take. The buck only went about 150 yards before folding up. He was using his Mossberg Model 100ATR in the 30-06 cal.
