We fished Friday on the south side of little lake mainly to get out of the stiff south winds. Worked the rock jetties first then moved into area ponds. Picked up 15 nice keepers and released 40+ smaller reds. I like seeing all those smaller Reds which shows there was a good hatch/recruitment last year. All Reds were caught on Gold bladed spinner baits, Gold Spoons, and some were caught on bait.... Read More
I fished with my Bride on Saturday morning and again fished the south side of little lake and area ponds to get away from the stiff south winds. It did not take long and we were both hooked up on some very nice Reds. While running gold blade spinner baits along grass lines my bride landed two very nice specs which made her day with her limit of reds. Also caught plenty of smaller reds which is a.... Read More
I had the opportunity this week to make a turkey/hog hunt in south Texas with my close friend and what a blast it was. We hunted a ranch near Crystal City and the gobblers were in full rut. On the first morning hunt I worked a big gobbler for over an hour and videoed him strutting with 4 hens. About 2 hours later I called in 3 big gobblers and took a nice one, He had a 9 3/8” beard and 1 ˝”.... Read More
Here is a neat video I took while making a late season hunt on my Buddies ranch in south Texas Zavala County . He wanted to have a few more Does and Spikes removed from his heard based on their heard count/survey and subscribed by their wildlife biologist. I was happy to assist and always love hunting that south Texas brush country. The neatest thing was I witness was on our last afternoon we.... Read More
Here is a video I took while hunting Public Land in Wyoming this past November 2012. The weather was awesome and we saw a lot of deer. The neat part is every day we would see fresh cougar tracks along the creek bottoms and sometimes on top of our tracks from the day before. We hunted for 6 days and seen on the average about 30 deer per day. There was a lot of walking to get away from the road.... Read More
After finishing up my hunt in Wyoming we moved down to Nebraska to make the November 10th opener. I arrived a few days earlier and had my turkey gear with me knowing I could have and awesome fall turkey hunt. I was not disappointed as I was able to take 2 nice gobblers my first afternoon hunt, my hunting buddy Rodney was sitting with me and also took two nice gobblers. We had over 40 turkeys.... Read More
This is a long but very neat story of a hunt I took my Bride on a few weekends back and I hope you enjoy it as this was one very cool hunt!
Back in the spring a good friend of mine from Houston asked if I would be interested in an Aoudad Sheep Hunt in the mountains of south west Texas close to El Paso. My Bride Annette has seen these animals before and it was on her bucket list of animals to.... Read More
Here is a neat video I took of 16 year old Mikey taking a 9pt from a private ranch in Kerr County Texas during the Thanksgiving week break. This was his first rack buck and what a neat deer to take. The buck only went about 150 yards before folding up. He was using his Mossberg Model 100ATR in the 30-06 cal.
Saturday while duck hunting and hardly seeing any birds plus getting eat up by gnats and mosquitoes my Bride keeps texting me and sending pictures of all the Specs and Reds she was catching down in Lafitte. I told the guys I was hunting with let’s shut it down as the weather for Sunday was the same pattern (hot and no wind). I then packed up and headed to Lafitte where I could join my bride for.... Saturday morning my Bride and I headed to Little Lake to fish the Rocks along Bay L'Ours and then headed to the Plum Point area to finish out our limit of Reds by 10:40am. We caught all our fish on Gold Bladed Spinner baits and Gold Spoons.
Sunday morning after waking up we decided we just could not sit around the camp knowing the Reds were out there and hungry so back down to Little Lake we went. In no time we were back on the bite and catching some beautiful Reds. By 9:40 we were done and headed back to camp with a very nice mess of fish for the freezer.
All fish where caught on Gold Spoons, Gold Bladed Spinner baits, and Gulp.... Read More
My Bride and I finally had a weekend without Kids and Friends over so we made the best of it and headed back to Little Lake in search of some hungry Reds. My Brides second cast of the morning yielded a solid 5 pound Red and from that point on the bite was on! By 10:40 we put the last Red of our limit in the boat and started having fun doing the Catch-n-Release thing for a few more hours. We.... Read More
We had some friends come in from Houston and they wanted to try and get on some Reds. Tammy had never been marsh fishing or ever hooked up on a big fish before. The weather was great with very light winds so we headed too little lake and started working the Rocks around Bay L’Ours.
In no time we had Tammy hooked up on some nice fish and anchored by a very nice 12 pounder. My Bride joined in on.... Read More
Fished Sunday Morning with My Bride and her close friend Dee. We headed back to the same ponds back of Bayou DuPont that we had fished all weekend long. The wind was pretty brutal and made for some very interesting fishing conditions. Higher then normal water plus muddy water starting to filter into the ponds. We made the best of it and boated 8 nice keepers along with a few flounders and one.... Read More
I fished on Saturday morning with my good Friend Al and his son Kyle. My goal was to try and get Kyle on a good Red Fish bite so we headed back to some ponds off of Bayou DuPont and started working point and cuts along the banks. Water was high and we were battling a stiff east north east wind. That did not slow the bite down any and using gold spoons and gold bladed spinner baits we wrapped up.... Read More
Fished with my Bride Friday morning in some duck ponds off of Bayou DuPont with a stiff east wind. We were using gold bladed spinner baits with costal tackles “Morning Glory” color soft plastic. The water was clear and about 1 ˝ feet higher then normal. I was able to get into some ponds that are normally inaccessible which made for a field day for us. My Bride smoked me on the bigger Reds and it.... Read More
Sunday Morning 2 buds and I headed south to the Airplane Bay area and fished a strong incoming tide. The first few places we tried yielded nothing so we moved around until we found some cleaner water. Around mid morning the bite turned on and we started catching Reds on spinner baits in the back ends of some duck ponds along grass beds. By noon we had a nice mess of Reds and a few flounder. The.... Read More
