Talked to several friends yesterday and today. One went out of Bayou Segnette in Westwego, and saw dead fish or fish dying. Another went into Lake Des Allemands and reported lots of dead/dying fish. Another launched at Bayou Black and reported dead/dying fish, mostly on the north side of the intracoastal. All said the water coming out of the marsh smells really bad.
All folks who fish and swim in our Gulf waters be careful and attentive. My son was invited to go on a trip this weekend out of Grand Isle for snapper. There were 7 people total on the boat. They fished for red snapper 24 miles out, then fished for mangrove snapper about 8 miles out. Everyone took a swim, but only two, my son and a friend, handled frozen pogy and chumed. The grass is just starting to come up in Lake Cataouatche. The LW&F was out spraying last week. Does anyone know how to contact them so we can get them to stop and let the grass grow again? Thats the only chacne this lake has with all the attention it recieves.
