Got a chance to make a trip with youngest son Eric to the Bend FRIDAY, Saturday, and Sunday. A big front blew through Friday morning early, with 25-30 mph winds. Our biggest bass were caught in the main lake, but had to go back in protected waters when the wind and waves got bad. Our best day was Saturday when we caught around 50 bass with the best 5 bass going around 21 lbs. Fun trip!
Made a trip with son Adam this morning. Fog was fairly bad, it was slow going. We caught 24 bass, had some decent ones, and one over 5 lbs. We went further east this time. Caught some on jigs and some on spinnerbaits.
Had an outstanding trip with my son. We caught between 60 and 70 bass, many in the 3 and 4 lb. class. We each had a bass between 5 and 6 lbs. Fishing along the intracoastal between Larose and Houma. Had a blast!
The State House will be voting on the saltwater license Tuesday. This is for HB 1082. If you want to tell your Rep. and Senator your view on this today, below is a website to find them and their e-mail addresses. Don't complain if you don't send your views! www.legis.la.gov/legis/FindMyLegislators.aspx
Caught a big spawner today....was dripping eggs. Let her go to have babies and grow. If you gonna keep some bass to eat, keep the 1 to 2 lbers....no sense in putting a knife into a bass like this that will be someone's biggest ever, maybe a youngster will catch her!
My son lost his tackle bag yesterday while fishing out of Bayou Black....must have fallen out of the boat. If anyone comes across a tackle bag in this area, please give me a shout, thanks. 504-621-9440.
Talked to several friends yesterday and today. One went out of Bayou Segnette in Westwego, and saw dead fish or fish dying. Another went into Lake Des Allemands and reported lots of dead/dying fish. Another launched at Bayou Black and reported dead/dying fish, mostly on the north side of the intracoastal. All said the water coming out of the marsh smells really bad.
All folks who fish and swim in our Gulf waters be careful and attentive. My son was invited to go on a trip this weekend out of Grand Isle for snapper. There were 7 people total on the boat. They fished for red snapper 24 miles out, then fished for mangrove snapper about 8 miles out. Everyone took a swim, but only two, my son and a friend, handled frozen pogy and chumed. Both had a small cut on....
