There is an owl in the driveway of my work that appears to have been hit by a vehicle, and I need to know if there is anyone out there that rehabs & takes care of injured birds. It is still alive but can not fly or walk. We have contacted the Wildlife & Fisheries but all they did was give us contact info for two people, neither of which could take the bird.

Has anybody had any luck catching bass around Manchac lately? I have been getting skunked flipping soft plastics along the banks and canals. That normally works but I have not even had many bites the last trip or two.

Google the area and you will see several land locked lakes....
FYI...The bream bite has turned on in Lake Verett. On the north end of the lake we found them on the outside edge of grass beds in 3-5ft of water fishing 2ft under a cork.

saw a lot being caught in crackerhead
Anybody know what the water clarity is looking like on Lake Verret? We are likely heading down there this weekend and would really appreciate a heads up on what to expect. Plan to try the Grand Bayou & Crackerhead areas for some sacs & bass. If anyone has any information or tips we would greatly appreciate it.

Just got in from Verret. The water was a little high but....
Went to the camp this weekend and found that we are in full rut in the Tylertown area. Almost hit a nice 8 pt on my way to the camp & saw 2 other 8 pts while hunting. All had swollen necks & looked like they had one thing on their mind! Saw both bucks between 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Scrapes everywhere and even saw a doe working a scrape while in the stand. Anybody know if Lake Verret or the Spillway is too muddy from the past few days rain? I know it will probably be raining tomorrow but we may still give it a try if the water is clear enough to fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did a little surf fishing in Grand Isle this weekend. Hit Elmers Island Saturday morning with live shrimp and caught 1 hardhead. That was it. I had two guys on each side of me, one side was fishing live finger mullet and the others were fishing with minnows, and each caught near their limit of 2-4lb trout. I've noticed that the trout are full of minnows when....
Fished out of Fourchon this weekend and had a tough time with the wind. The gulf was out of the question, so we decided to try a few spots inshore with little luck.

Went down to Shell Beach this weekend mainly just to get away for the weekend but did end up finding a few fish. We weren't fishing very hard and only a couple of hours at a time, but ended up with 6 reds and 8 trout. Most of the fish were caught on the bottom at the dam. Market shrimp and gulps were what they wanted. Only caught one fish that had to be measured with 4 of the reds going 24+.... Read More

I have seen this idea tossed about about using hay. ....

Copperhead, I haven't been yet, but I have received good....
Launched at Bayou Corne Saturday mid-morning and fished the Crackerhead canal system for the first time. It started off pretty slow but picked up a couple of hours before dark. I spent most of the day trying to find some sac-a-lait but didn't have much luck. My father and I both pulled out the bass poles mid afternoon and went to work. went today no bites for 5hrs.very slow!
I need some advice from all of you sac-a-lait experts, not on spots or locations, but on technique. I have caught a few sacs here and there over the years but mainly on crickets and worms while bream fishing, and a few on beetle spins once I have found a spot holding a few fish.

It's hard for one person to bass fish and one to fish sac....
Put in at Bayou Corne Sunday to try our luck with not much success. We only fished from around 11:30-3:30 with just one bass to show for it. We stopped at a few of the dead end canals between Bayou Corne and Lake Verret and the water was pretty muddy everywhere we stopped except one pipeline canal, which is where we caught our one fish and had several other bites.
