They had some traffic problems on interstate so took Airline Hwy home. Crossing over spillway saw a sign that roads were closed and there was a major flow of water coming through the spillway. This is a lot of fresh water and if we don't get a storm surge the lake could be in trouble.

Bassmaster Magazine names Toledo Bend No. 1 bass fishery in nation/ Remember when they were talking about TB dying. Then they talked about ways for getting grass and limits and catch and release of all fish over 10pounds. Looks like it proves a point or two.

I am looking for 3 hole crab traps with heavy wire not the big ones. The regular stores no longer carry these small traps. The grand kids can't handle those big ones.

  • Lafitte bass in the grass
If you check my post for years I have been saying we need to find ways to get grass into our marsh and coast. Well looks like I am starting to hear this cry from others this after 20plus years of silence. Most of the cry has been how to stop grass and remove it. We have spend millions on all these reefs from one end of the coast to the other and you seldom if ever see a report on them. KVD said....  Read More

As a family I remember spending many great week ends fishing, crabbing and swimming. Now a disgrace sorry I went by for old times sad. Not one fishing boat on June lst with light winds and people want to say the lake is coming back. I remember when on this date you would have a 100 boats. Now looks like a 3rd world country area.

  • Lafitte grass bass
For the past two weeks unable to catch even one fish. Today they showed up but again not easy in grass you could walk on and wind that blew your hat off. Reason you better get the biggest trolling motor if you want to fish grass and wind.

How would you like to make this drive and then have to fish a tournament and then drive home.Guess if you win the drive would be ok but a bad tournament would kill you. I saw one of the top pro's gasing up one time and he was died tired. He said it is a hard way to make a living.

With the river and rain water time to change the Lafitte attack. Today I fished in grass you could walk on needed to because of muddy conditions. A lot of action but getting those bass out of that grass was a job. This is the reason I love Lafitte always something to catch.

  • Lafitte slam
I have posted many times that grass is the key to a good catch. Bass, reds and trout all hide and hunt in the grass. Caught these in very heavy grass. Years ago it would have been impossible to fish this heavy grass but the new props don't even know it is there. Fog and grass use to stop fishing now no problem with GPS and new trolling motors.

  • Food at the cleaning station
As kids many years ago anytime we had crazy weather they would said the Abomb was the problem. This week I have never seen wind blow so hard in the evening and be so calm at day light. We caught the Lafitte slam everyday but you better be casting at day light. Can't believe the trout already are full of eggs this seem real early to me. All we need now is for the dragonfly s to arrive to control....  Read More

This week had some coaches at the camp for a football clinic and fishing. We had great weather and the fishing was great for the first 2 hours then it was over. Monday the wind was out the west and blowing a ton no fish right. Well they wanted to try and it turns out this was the best day and left them hitting. We even caught bass and reds along with the trout. One thing not to many fisherman....  Read More

  • Talipa live and breed hot weather
I saw a show where they were putting Rainbow trout in lakes in parks around the state. There were people with nets and rods did not see them catch or scoup any. Showed a stringer of them caught. I for one think this should be catch and release for the first month then let them catch all you want as they will die from hot water. Let the kids have some fun. Best yet I would put Talipa in these....  Read More

Been checking in on the classic this week and if you did not believe bass fishing is tough just look at the results. Most of the bass have been caught in the first hour and then these best of the best can only catch one or two. These guys have been on this lake for some time and have the best equipment an info you can get. Like I have posted many times no limits needed on bass only during the....  Read More

Whooping cranes are among the world's most endangered birds. Louisiana is trying to build a flock in southwest Louisiana. This is the sixth to be shot.
