Killed my best buck yet last Friday at our lease in McNair, MS. Thanks to the hard work of my dad, brother, and friends during the off-season when I am out doing the NAVY thing I was fortunate enough to get a nice shot on this buck while he was working his scrape line 150yds at the end of the food plot. Memories that are made each time I get to venture out in to the woods or marsh are the ones....
In port on the british island of Diego Garcia on break at the end of an extended submarine deployment. We caught two wahoo last weekend in 400ft of water 200yds from the beach...this place is amazing. Chasing the tuna this weekend before we head home. Looks like the bite is on in LA, can't wait to get to my real home and hunt and fish where it is right.
This is no joke. Can you call a pig? I have had them just outside of shooting range the past two days in the same spot. I moved today to get closer, and they stayed in the woods until dark. Would they respond to the sound of a distressed yearling? Any feedback is appreciated.
Hunt on base, so I cannot call them in with corn or HogWild.
Anybody need or care to have another duck/goose hunter in New Iberia area for a Turkey day morning hunt. I am in town on leave from the Navy visiting inlaws and am interested in bustn' some ducks. Anything would be appreciated Morgan City to Kaplan and anything in between.
Not to be cliche, but the smackdown got laid last night on a poor yearling buck when my TC Encore claimed its first victim. To top that off, almost got my first deer bow kill on a big doe in these Georgia woods. Missed her, but I'll be back at it again tomorrow. Keep the Pics and stories coming. You will never know how much it means to your military men and women to be able to read about the....
Does anybody have drawings/plans/photos of a wooden tripod that will get you up about 10-15' above the ground? Trying to figure out if it's worth building or just buying a tripod.
thanks in advance
Got my first bow kill on Monday on base. Hunting on base is way different than hunting at the camp or on someones land in LA. I wanted a kill drink at the skinning rack, but I don't think that would have gone over too well. Keep the reports coming. Helps pass the time till I can get back to LA woods and the right state.
old man sent me a video i figured i'd pass on to you guys. the navy has got me over in south east georgia for a few years. the good news is i start bow season in mid sept and hunt through january. enjoy the video and keep the good louisiana pics and stories coming for those of us who cannot be there.
I am from Prairieville/Baton Rouge, and I am upstate NY for nuclear navy training. Found a little place in the woods to live for the winter with some buddies. got a couple of deer (spike and doe (good eating)) so far and watch the turkeys everyday. Found some monster scrape lines but shift work doesn't allow much time for scouting and hunting. I got one more weekend left for muzzle loader....
A much needed break from the bitching of the duck 'hunters.' i myself am a duck hunter, but when there are no ducks i go find them or just have fun looking instead of blaming everything under the sun for my misfortune in the marsh. my pops sent me some pics of a bow hunter that had some kind of accident while shooting his bow. i don't bow hunt, so i cannot figure out how this happened, but....
Cold and rainy (freezing at night). Tomorrow is the big day. Ducks everywhere. Geese too. Deer are over populated; I see them everywhere. Hell no, of course i am not in LA. I am stuck in Groton, CT for officer basic submarine school. Good luck tomorrow, and remember if you don't kill a thing; you ain't stuck in frickin' CT. As far as tomorrow being the big day, that is for ya'll. be safe.....
