Donnie Courtney brought his own boat down from the Baton Rouge area yesterday to meet his guest from Kilgore Texas for 2 days of fishing. Had the pleasure of having Randall Aldridge and his 20 man group down for their annual fishing trip the last 4 nights. They brought their own boats and hit the lower Dularge area with a vengeance. The weather was perfect and trout were on the menu. 350 yellow mouths are what they ended up with to bring back to Baton Rouge. What a great weekend with the beautiful weather to have B.J.Schilling and family down at THE REEL IN LODGE for some trout and red fishing action. Had a great day with some senior friends chasing Redfish Wednesday 10/10 down in Dularge. Caught 10 reds, 12 Black drum with a dozen trout mixed in. Caught all the reds and drum on cracked crab with the trout falling to a shrimp under a cork. There were a lot of birds working the lakes but we only fished a couple flocks. I think its time for me to give the reds a break and start chasing trout!.... Read More

10/5 report from a redfishing trip with great friends. Departed from THE REEL IN lodge and headed deep into the lakes and bayous in search of Redfish and Black drum. Sunday 9/16 my wife and I decided to make a last minute redfish trip after all the work was done at the camp. We armed ourselfs with 2 dozen fresh crab from Jugs and headed north deep into the lakes and bayous. Had a great weekend spending time with my wife Heather, my daughter Suzy and her friend Jordan. Trout fishing is what they wanted and that's what they got. Had a great day down Dularge yesterday with easy limits to be had by all. My guest wanted to sleep in so we left the camp at 7:30 and was back at 1:30 with a 2 person limit. We worked the rigs and beach just picking at them and then we hit the mother load around 11:30. By 12:30 we were done and left them biting 2 at a time on double rigged plastic. Joe Taylor and his 20 man gang arrived for for their annual trip to THE REEL IN LODGE to wade fish throughout the next 6 days.I'm sure they will be making the quick 40 minute run to the coastal barrier islands around Raccoon point to work the trout over. Just finished up with Bryan Fontenot's group Monday from Lafayette as they enjoyed their stay at THE REEL IN LODGE but had very little chance to get out along the coast where all the trout are. They all brought their own boats down and done well the first day(Friday)but not sure what the final tally was. Looking forward to having them back soon.

Just finished up with Will & Mike Daigle's group from the Lafayette area for their annual meat haul as they hammered the trout Friday morning catching over a 100 yellow mouths. Had a great time down at the HOFI this past weekend. Fished for Redfish in the ponds the first day and chased the Trout along the coast the next. Caught 35 Big trout at the rigs.

The wife and I went out to the coast for the first offshore trip this year and had a good time catching some nice trout. We were fishing the production platforms with double rigged plastic however the people with live minnows were doing much better than us. My wife and I had a great day on the water Saturday limiting out on trout. We had to fish till 3:30 but got it done. All fish were caught around islands in sister lake area tight lining LSU bayou chubs minnows. We tried fishing the birds and was only catching double 8 lb sea cats and/ or very small trout. All the trout were full of eggs, go figure-full moon.lol

3/30/2012 had a great day on the water Friday with my old fishing buddy Rob Chauvin. Started the morning off with a very slow falling tide catching 17 trout tight lining swim baits. Once the tide changed and started to come in the bite turned on and it was crazy. I pulled in 8 doubles in a row when we reached the limit.
