As most of you know, the MRGO rocks in Hopedale have been on fire. Had to go see for myself. I hadn't been to Hopedale since last fall so I was certainly looking forward to fishing out there. Phillip, Chase, and I arrived at BSM around 6:00 A.M. and were running down the spoil canal by 6:30.
We arrived in the MRGO and immediately fount gulls diving. After about a.... Read More
Incredible Incredible Incredible!
The stars must have lined up perfectly because The fishing in Grand Isle today was awesome. Arrived at coastal bait around 6:30, picked up some beautiful live shrimp and headed to the honey hole. Light winds had the gnats eating me up but it didn't matter to me. I was by myself and at peace. A new moon coming up,.... Read More
I got a lot to do so I am gonna make this report short. Fished hard today and fount fish at two spots between fouchon and grand isle. There was bait everywhere and the weather was gorgeous. The fish bit in spurts of 2-3 fish but I grinded it out and put together a solid box of fish using carolina rigged TKO's and cast netted some live shrimp which.... Read More
Left the boat at home and made the drive down to the banks of highway 1. I had some family in from Washington whose never experienced our great fishing down here so I was more than eager to show them how great it is down south. The weather was awesome today with light winds, dense fog and a rising tide all morning.
I have been busy with other things and that is the reason for my lack of reports. I can't remember the last time I went fishing before today.
I decided to leave the boat at home and head down to old faithful (Highway 1 in grand isle) I fished between fouchon and grand isle and fount the fish pretty easily. They wanted only two colors which were a champagne colored TKO shrimp and a chartreuse.... Read More
For some odd reason I haven't had the urge to go fishing the last couple weeks. I have been off 8 days n that time frame and have not fished on any of them. What is wrong with me? I think I am going insane.
I hope all of my fellow sportsman members had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a great New Year. I don't know about you guys, but it seems to me that 2012 went by very very quick. I can't wait to see what is in store for 2013!
I haven't been able to get on the water as much as I'd like because I have been so busy at work but when I got the phone call from Holy Mackerel last night.... Read More
As I closed my front door early this morning I kept asking myself if three layers of clothing was enough. It was real real cold this morning but no wind to speak of so I felt confident that 3 pairs of fleece sweatpants, 3 layers of socks, three sweatshits, a face mask, a beanie, 3 layers of socks, steeltoe boots, and some pretty pink gloves that I borrowed from my sister last night was enough to.... Another cold and windy and numbing day out of BAIT INC. off of Paris road in Chalmette. Not much changed from yesterday's weather to today. Only good thing was today we had some sun shining through on us!
Started off at the entrance of the hot water canal and put 12 in the boat before the bite dyed down. Then moved inside the hot water canal and started catching 16-20 inch tarpon but no meat.... Read More
When all odds are stacked against you....go fishing!
After a rough handful of days at work, I had to scratch my itch. Yes, Phillip and I are crazy to be fishing hours after a cold front in ice cold temperatures with strong winds but who cares, we limited out! Met up with Phil at BAIT INC. around 6:30 and hung around the bait shop for awhile chit chattin with Mr. Jimmy and then headed out to.... Read More
I feel like a broken record but once again we had an amazing trip out of Bait INC. in Bayou Bienvenue. We fished the ICW and Lake Borgne and caught fish until we were tired of catching fish. Mike, Ryan, Nick, and I got on some nice sized trout early in the A.M. in the ICW then fished the shoreline of Lake Borgne around Bayou Magill to top off the box. No birds working the area but we fished a.... Read More
I hate seeing all of the bickering in here and it really has gotten out of hand. Lets lighten things up a bit and talk about some positive things!
Everyone share their BEST fishing trip of their lives.
My buddies David, Josh, and I were on an insane big trout bite in Bayou Bienvenue for about month in 2011. On February 14, 2011 we all had the best fishing trip of our lives. It.... Read More

When life hands you lemons......
Well we knew the forecast was for rain, but thought we'd get at least a couple hours in at Bayou Bienvenue. WRONG! We launched at Bait INC. and were fishing by 7 a.m. and by 7:45 a.m. we were getting wet. Not fun and it was cold but at least it wasn't freezing cold. We only had 15-20 trout (albeit quality trout) and 2 reds in the boat before we had to rush back.... Read More
Awesome day in Bayou Bienvenue today. Fished with good friends Phillip Dewenter and Andre Thomas(known as Blackbear31 on here). We fished the ICW today using TKO's, Matrix Shads, Swimbaits, etc. and put together a 75 trout limit with some real nice trout too.

Phil, T.J., and I met up at BAIT INC for 6:30 a.m. and intstead of heading to where we have been catching them, we went west and it was a good idea. Just wanted to let everyone know the fish are definitely biting in Bayou Bienvenue. Fish the ledges of the ICWW from the chef to the new locks and you will find some fish if you are persistent.
Fish carolina rigged or dribble a jig-head with a matrix shad down the drop off. If you can afford live bait, that will work too. Just move until you find them and when you do you should be able to put.... Read More
Fished Bayou Bienvenue for the first time this season and fount plenty beautiful fish at a few of my winter time spots! Had a guy who is new to fishing with us and it felt great to see the smiles he had from the trout catching action!
