  • Wick Mayers with a nice pair.
  • Dwayne Mayers with a solid red
  • 100qt box shot
I took a couple of good friends, Dwayne and Wick Mayers, to Catfish Lake this past Saturday. Water was on the rise and we had to endure a stiff 10-15 SE wind that was only supposed to be 5mph. Oh well, we made the best of it. Tried canals on north end of the lake. Found them to be stained but water was moving. Caught a few reds and a keeper trout or two there. Went over to the west side to fish....  Read More

Freshwater Fishing in South Central Louisiana
Everybody has seen these shows on tv where the noodlers jam their hands in a hole and pull out a monster catfish then they cradle them like a 50 lb labrador. My question is, do these monster cats still have the poisonous fins and if so, why aren't these people getting stuck? Seems like the fish do a lot of flopping without causing the noodlers any pain. Just wondering. Thanks

Opinions & Responses in Louisiana
I'm in the process of re-carpetting my boat. There is carpet on all surfaces but due to the complex curves and angles on the bow, I want to carpet the flat part of the bow deck and paint the complex areas with some type of paint w/ sand added for a non-slip surface. The area under the carpet is not painted, it is exposed fiberglass. My question is, what type of paint should I use and how many....  Read More

Freshwater Fishing in Morgan City in South Central Louisiana
Tried to fish the Shell Cuts Tuesday. The lillies have everything all choked up. Tried several ways of getting in but had to settle for the canals around the 30 and 16, also Logans. Fished hard, only had 1 small sacalait and about 6 throwback bass.

I had read a while back of a new launch that was to be built on Hwy 90 for access to Cataoutchie. Does anyone have any info on this such as where will it be, when will it be built, etc? There is a lot of new side road construction going on around that area near Davis Pond and Pier 90. Wonder if it will be in there somewhere. Thanks.

Man, what's going on with the classified ads? I've noticed for quite a while that they have been messed up. The ads are all jumbled up with different dates. It makes it real hard to check the recent ads when there are old ads mixed in. I was looking at boats the other day and recognized one from a long time ago. I thought, "man, that boat hasn't sold yet?" Then I realized that the ad....  Read More

I was wondering what happened to the gentlman with the screenname "oldtimer"? I haven't read anything from or about him since he helped FLiesitdies out with his motor dilemma. I know there were a lot of people here who helped flies get back on the water due to "oldtimers" thoughtfulness. I'm on this website almost daily (wife says I'm addicted to it), so why haven't I heard....  Read More

Is there a creel and size limit for white trout? I looked in the La WLF reg booklet but, unless I missed it, I see no mention of white trout, only specks. It's been many years since we have caught whites and I can't remember if there is a limit. Thanks in advance, Mikey
