Spawning trout starting to move in. We made a couple of trips this past week. Didn't catch any limits,but had a nice mess of fish each day. Almost every fish was female. Caught all on plastic (chartreuse sparkle cocohoe). We actually lost twice as much. Fish are soft biting. Good luck to all.

Oct. 5 made a trip to SW Pass, caught 2 limits of reds and threw back 20 or more rat reds. Tried fishing birds in the bay; the fish are there but the idiots are too. Worked for 1/2 hour to sneak up on a school only to have some idiot fly in and spook the school. No respect or manners.

Went to the Island 2 days in a row fishing deep holes in the bayous. Having a blast with the big drum on a falling tide. Catching lots of croakers and some nice freshwater catfish. All on shad caught at the dams.

We took a trip offshore yesterday in search of trout. Not even one bite. Water was beautiful. Starts clearing up 11 miles out. Here's where we stopped before we had a breakdown. Verm.31, SMI 236, SMI 241, EI 45, SL340. We were trying to get to the EI 51 field when we broke down. Didn't see any bait around the platforms until we got to the EI fields.

Get out and fish, get out and trawl, or get out and buy all the shrimp and fish you can. The oil will hit the entire coast of LA and it will affect all of our fishing areas around Marsh Island, Vermilion and Weeks Bay. LDWLF positioned limestone rocks to prevent erosion around the east end of Marsh Island. These rocks are not visible on high tides and are not marked. I hit these rocks the other day wide open and tore the prop off my boat. Low and behold along comes a LDWLF research boat to my aid (or so I thought). Made a quick trip out to TeeButte last Wednesday. Not many, but they were nice size and caught all on plastic under a rattle-cork. Glow salt grubs on a chartreuse head. Caught on a falling tide, got there late. All caught within about 20 min.. When the tide line came through, it was like the wall of death. They shut off immediately. Most aluminum boat builders I've researched warantee their boats for life from defects. One I know doesn't and it's their boat I own that is splitting up the bottom. I've tried to get them to fix it because they did not install the ribs correctly and they refuse to warantee their work and will only fix it if I pay. Don't buy a boat from Scully's is all I can recommend.
