Did anyone else attend the boat show this weekend? It was really good, with every make and model available there, and some manufacturers even had multiple models there. They were parked all over, from the Pickets, to Last Island. Most I have ever seen. Made our way down to Dularge Friday after dropping boat off on Thrusday. Wasn't sure what to expect w/ Mr. Weather man, but we missed Sat. morning taking care of some repairs and "honey-do" shopping in Houma, then went out Sunday morning. Not nearly as bad as I expected. The bird we nicknamed Obama (always talking, but never acting right) was laid to rest this morning at 7:22 by a load of 3.5" #5's from my Browning Gold at 11 yards. To say I have a "history" with this bird is an understatment and I never realized how addictive turkey hunting is until this morning! I actually high fived a pine tree since I was by myself.

Pretty good opening weekend despite all the wind yesterday. We had a total of 4 hunters on the lease, w/ 2 birds taken opening day, none today, but boy were they talking this morning! I'll be heading back up there as soon as I drop the kids off at school in the morning trying to get a little revenge from those 2 birds that got me this morning!

Got my son's turkey and deer tags at the same time and he....
This is my second year of carrying my wife's video camera around to video some turkey hunts. Problem is, this little handheld Sony is good, but the battery doesn't last very long. I even carry a spare battery and can not make it through the day.
Do any of you guys have any tips to getting a good quality camera that doesn't cost an arm and leg?

After learning a little about turkey hunting this year, I was educated on turkey chokes last weekend. Decided I needed one and shot three of them today. Browning Full choke, Primos Tight Wad, and a $20 HS Strut "Undertaker". The Tight Wad had the tightest pattern at 50 yards, but holes in the pattern at 20 yards that were too big for me. Big Lake was blessed by having the "Pickle" among the boaters Saturday. When I saw it, I told my son we had to go over a introduce ourselves. Glad to meet you Gary and hope all of you guys enjoyed the trip to the west! Hope to see ya'll again someday.

Does anyone have any details of the hunting guide that was shot and killed by a client in Cameron Parish while duck hunting? Just looking for some sort of info in hopes that others can educate themselves and hopefully learn something from this horrible event.

Snuck off to my property in Acadia Parish before work the other day. I have a co-worker who was severely injured in the spring and is still trying to get back to normal. I was able to see him last week and he wanted a hog to cook for Christmas and I said sure, no problem. Set the trap last weekend and thought it was going to be easy! Those things are slick!

The woodducks have pretty much moved out of the "hole" we have been slammin' them at for the last few weeks. However, the mallards have moved in! Been a long time since I have seen mallards decoying into the woods in South LA. This year has been great and I am glad we have some birds after last season. Hopefully this trend will continue!
