i'm in a bind here ya'll and could use some help. my friends and i had a dove hunt scheduled in north LA around the lake Bruin area and it was just called off by the landowner. i now need suggestions for places to go. i've found one place that was $200 per gun. i'm not too crazy about $200 bucks per gun. if anyone has any places to call or try i'd appreciate it.
while i'm at it, anyone have.... Read More
Anyone have any experience with the no longer manufactured (to my knowledge) Browning rolling block 45/70? I've only seen them at gun shows and they caught my eye as a beautiful breechloader that needs to be mine. Are they accurate? Reliable? Made in the U.S.A? Finish issues? Any input would be appreciated.
Anyone know where I can get bean bags in baton rouge for the boat? We're leaving tonight to Cocodrie and I would appreciate any advice. I tried wally world, toys r us, etc.
I was thinking about going to GI or Elmer's for some wade fishing. How did everyone do this past weekend? It looks like the winds should lay down a bit, or so the weatherman says. Any input or advice would be appriciated.
anyone fished the leeville area lately? i'm wanting to go saturday in the marsh for some reds but i dont want to donate 10 pounds of skin to the gnats. weather is supposed to be mild tomorrow so i'm kinda afraid. thanks.
anyone have any experience with the Remington 1100 in the 28 gauge? i don't know anyone personally that has one to ask. i've heard they may have cycling issues. i'd like to get one, i already have the 12 and 20 gauge, and a 28 would be a neat rabbit/dove gun. any advice would be appreciated.
thanks
anyone have a .38-55? been looking for a unique gun. i know the availability of ammo is an issue, but i won't be shooting that much anyways. i like the idea of the lesser recoil than the 45-70.
BTW, ruger used to make a model 1 in that caliber, talk about sweet.
just wondering has anyone ever tried to hunt the wax in a layout blind? i could see where it would work so long as the tide was going out or at least low. the season is nearing and i've already cleaned my gun and deeks so i'm trying to cope as well as i can.
hey guys,
i was just given a gift card to cabela's and i'm thinking about the 30-30. don't know much about models, still debating over the marlin and the win 94. any help? i've always wanted that caliber, and i hunt alot of thick junk anyways. thanks for the input.
ya'll have any good deer roast recipes? how about some ducks? i'm happy to have the problem now of having two deer in the freezer and looking to cook some meat myself rather than bring it to the camp or mom. how about deer backstrap? thanks in advance.
my muffler on my go devil surface drive is about shot, the cover plate rusted off en route to the prairie at manchac. now i see blue flames shooting out like a stock car. it sounds pretty cool, like i've had some work done on it. i'm worried that rain water could sit in there and do damage. also i don't think the air intake can take that kind of sustained heat..... can anyone tell me if i need a WMA tag if i have a lifetime license? i've been checked numerous times at the wax and i've never been asked to show a tag. thanks.
i am looking for any advice for hunting the pearl. not looking to take anyone's honey holes, just best way to get there and what waterways to take. all i'm interested in is getting a hog or two. coming from I-12 from gonzales. i've got a go-devil surface drive so shallow water shouldn't matter much. any help would be appreciated.
ya'll take care, merry christmas (NOT "happy.... Read More
went sunday around the Rayne area despite high winds and ulgy clouds from Ike, apparantly, the teal didn't mind. we had 5 limits of blues down by 8. crappy dog so we lost a few in the rice fields. saw lots of big ducks, including those mexican whistlers, gotta get me one of those this year. the water was still rising fast due to strong south wind. hope ya'll made it out alright. anyone have any.... anybody have any advice for a varmint gun? thinking about a 22-250 or a .223. how about brand name, not a fan of encore, don't want to buy extra scopes for each barrel. also, can you shoot nutria at the wax lake WMA? that would be a neat way to gear up for coyote. thanks.
anyone have any kudos or gripes about the gator-tails or the prodrives? i've got a go-devil surface drive now and i am not impressed one bit. i hunt the wax almost exclusively and i am tired of pushing that heavy ass boat out. the prop bogs the motor down even in soupy mud. i know i'm opening myself to a wide open debate but let's try it. i've heard mixed reviews about Prodrive having trouble.... congrats on the beautiful pintail greenhead. i've been looking for one like yours for a quite a while. reading everyone else's reports about the rough times hunting the wax makes me feel better. it's been pretty difficult to get even teal to commit to the spread. most will work our spread then just drift off like they're not interested. had to get out of the boat-blind and just sit in a grass....
