Inshore Fishing in Calcasieu Lake in Southwest Louisiana
I know there's not a bunch of information on here about Calcasieu Lake. Here's some though. The flounder have not made there annual run yet, maybe next weekend they might but for now, no flounder caught. Now is the perfect time to take a kid fishing, the croaker are stacked up like cord wood by deep structure. Market shrimp is the name of the game. I caught 1 speckled trout...he must.... Read More

  • Big 'un from last year.
How do u go about attracting bream to a bream hole? Heard of the hay thing with chopped corn but what else can u use to attract them when u go fishing so will just sit in one place and tear them up. I know it's about location as well but know the location where I want to do it but what with? Heard of old men hanging road kill from a limb to watermelon on a pole or limb.

  • My dad relaxing at home, Tommy Matthews of Bunkie, La.
  • Dad in the Navy.
On the one year mark of my father passing away tomorrow, February 4th, I just want to let every one of your fisherman know how great you are. Don't ever forget to pass on the tradition of fishing to our younger generation. I will never forget any of the times, good and bad that me and my dad spent fishing. Ever since his passing, in memory of my father and God I always say me a little prayer.... Read More

Hunting in Louisiana
I can't believe the State Police didn't arrest that guy when he shot into brush at another man and killed him, if it would have been an average Joe and not a CORRECTIONAL OFFICER we'd be below the jail right now. This is to me an outrage and needs to be dealt with swiftly. The guy even admitted shooting into rustling brush when he killed him. How retarded do u have to be to not get arrested.... Read More

Fishing in Calcasieu Lake in Southwest Louisiana
I know when I was fishing on Friday the wind was horrible. I have a 12 foot aluminum boat but dang the wind was so bad...on that note I did catch a few fish with little to no tide movement due to the wind, it's like it's stuck on high tide all day long. Caught 2 flounder, 5 reds, 5 specks, 15 bull croaker, 1 sheephead and a spadefish. The reds are really starting to make the mullet jump, if u.... Read More

Fishing in Red River South in Central Louisiana

  • Big old Garfish, braided line, no leader
  • Garfish
There must be some Garfish that came into the Red River this year. Caught it on 10 pound braid with no wire leader while catfishing in the good old Red River. My largest ever caught, only had a small dip net to land him. Put his head in it and then cradled him on-board with my arm. 5 quart bags of meat sure to be tasty. And for u environmentalists reading it was a male garfish.

Freshwater Fishing in Saline-Larto in Central Louisiana
Caught just some baby white perch on Sunday. I'd say wait about a month then run to Saline, depending on the weather. Word from Woodson's launch they aren't biting right now.

Downed this Unicorn around 730 on Sunday morning, the deer were moving big time that day, thank God for the fog. My first deer out of 7 hunts made. Good cull buck!

Inshore Fishing in Fourchon / Grand Isle in Southeast Louisiana
I made a limit easily today early in the morning...the bridge was on fire last night/morning. Shrimp and pogies had no place to run fast enough...nice trout too...16-19 inchers. I Used a mirrodine (Chrome) in the middle of the channel this morning and tore them up. Then later on in the noon time hour I tore them up on New Penny Gulp under a popping cork about 1 1/2 feet deep...secret spot on.... Read More
