Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
Photo Album
God has blessed us this year with some phenomenal duck hunting down in Dularge for the first split. Something that is not normal for us hunting on my lease during the first split for the past couple of years. That early Arctic front we had the first week of the season pushed down more birds than I have ever seen in the marsh in our area. This warm spell we have been having has pushed them....  Read More

For those of you that have camps out in the marsh or even anywhere in the swamp, how Do you guys go about disinfecting and cleaning out a little camp that hasn't been used in 3 or 4 years? We have been sleeping in it fine but still I would like to get it a little more sanitary. It is just one open room

Offshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana

Made my first offshore trip saturday with some great friends from Baton Rouge. We lauched and Jug's and off we were in the 22ft Triton heading far far south. We were blessed with great weather and flat calm seas. We ran about 45 miles south of the pass and hit a few rigs catching my first two cobia and my friends shot 15 decent Mangroves with their spearguns. We headed back inshore and hit....  Read More

Offshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
I'm heading offshore out of dularge and planning on hitting a section of rigs in about 50-55 feet of water around 35 or so miles out because I'm limited to a small gas tank in my bay boat. Can anyone give me any information on what kinds of fish we could possibly catch in 50 feet of water around these rigs? We've caught cobia out there before but just interested if there is anything else....  Read More

Fished the past 5 days down in Dularge with the crew from Cajun Country Outfitters. Started out Thursday night heading out to the Mardi Gras rig to try and hop on the trout and beat the heat but was greeted with muddy water and no tide yielding only 30 trout for the entire night of fishing. Saturday made a trip and ran east trying to explore some new areas and found a few nicer fish catching....  Read More

Over the past three weeks fishing out of Dularge has been heating up. When the weather is good, the fishing has been great. The key has been to find clean water and the fish have been stacked up on the various inshore rigs around Cocodrie and Dularge. Last wednesday me and a buddy limited out by 8 o clock on live minnows and that was the only day in the past 6 trips that live bait was....  Read More

Inshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
Haven't been down to Dularge in over a month due to some issues that have been going on back here in Baton Rouge, but with all those settled and solved I decided last friday was a great day to get back on the water. Myself and two friends from home picked up my boat and got caught at the bridge by Falgout's opening twice.... So we got a late start, didn't start fishing until 7:30ish. We....  Read More

Made another one of my frequent fishing trips down to dularge this morning because I had to drop my boat off at Pellegrin Marine in Houma this afternoon to get its annual service. Headed down early this morning with 3 friends from Baton Rouge, Elliot Diel, Corey Holmes, and Logan Messina from Dallas. We launched the boat at 6am and we were off to fish the bayous and marsh on the northeast end....  Read More

Fishing in Dularge lately has been very good recently with the cold weather and now with some warmer weather approaching I am excited about what Spring time has to bring for down there. Most of the fishing I have been doing has been on the Eastern region of Dularge. Launching at Jugs and fishing bayous and canals anywhere from the Eastern end of Lake Mechant, mud Lake, and around the Bayou....  Read More

Made a trip yesterday with a couple of my buddies from Baton Rouge that normally join me down in the DU. On the way down we were excited about the warmer temperatures outside and the rising water temperatures. We were hoping so smack the trout like we did last monday but things didn't exactly play out that way. We launched at Jugs and were on our way for another day of fishing. We hit a....  Read More

Now with duck season over I decided to get the dust and cobwebs off of the bay boat and take her out for a day of fishing in dularge. We left Baton Rouge at 4 am and got on the water around 6:30 and we were off for another amazing day down in paradise. We hit a few holes where the reds were biting extremely well towards the end of duck season and we didn't manage a bite the entire morning. ....  Read More

All in all I can't really make any complaints for the past duck season we just had in Dularge. The season most definatley had its ups and downs but I got to go on some great hunts with some of my closest friends and whether you are killing or not we all know its almost always a great time in the marsh. I made a total of 39 hunts this year and we ended duck season with 396 birds. Kind of....  Read More

So far this season has had it's ups and downs but things are looking great for the rest of the year down in the DU! Hunted the front this morning with my buddies Dylan Fellipe and Elliot Diel and we had flocks of 10 to 15 grays coming in the decoys non stop all morning. We finished at 7:30 with our 13 gray ducks and 5 teal. Should have passed on the teal to shoot some more big ducks but hey....  Read More

I made another one of my random weekday trips down to Dularge last Thursday, 10/17/13 with a couple friends from Baton Rouge and my cousin from Alexandria. Our main goal for the day was to chase trout and we had what I would call an average day. We made great time getting down to Jug's and launching at around 6:15 then heading off to our first spot in Lake Mechant. Headed to a cut that has....  Read More

With this awesome weather we are having the past couple of days I've decided to get away and head down to dularge tomorrow morning to get on some trout. It's been a couple weeks since I've gone due to teal season but I'm ready to get back to fishing. Anyone else gunna be out there tomorrow?

Made two trips to dularge this past week, on wednesday and friday and the weather was amazing. Wednesday i fished with three friends from Baton Rouge and the conditions were perfect. 65 degree weather with no wind and a falling tide all day long. We busted up the reds sightfishing in the ponds and after we got our 20 fish limit we played catch and release on 10 or so more fish. Then we moved....  Read More

I see today that a Category 1 hurricane Karen is heading our way and it looks like it will brush up on Southeast Louisiana. Hopefully it won't cause too much damage but My duck hunting surface drive boat is down at the camp in Cocodrie. It is in a shed locked up down towards the end of the road basically a mile north of Coco Marina. Should I go down tomorrow and get my boat and bring it back....  Read More

After seeing some of the night fishing reports coming out of dularge from Capt Chris and Capt Travis, we decided to make that nighttime voyage two nights ago. I was on the way home from Dallas from cheering on the tigers Sunday morning and I decided that the window for offshore trout fishing was coming to an end. So right when I got home, I hooked up the boat and 4 of us headed straight south....  Read More

This a video that I put together with my new gopro that I got a couple weeks ago. It's my first one so the editing isn't very good but there's some pretty cool clips of reds slamming spinnerbaits

Me and three buddies made a quick trip down to dularge Friday morning to catch a few redfish. We were pressed for time because I had to get back to Baton Rouge to fly out later that night to Dallas for the LSU football game but we still had a great trip. We fished a bunch of ponds around the Lost Lake area and ended the day with a great mess of fish. We searched for clean water for a while....  Read More
