Inshore Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
Photo Album
  • Shallow water Bull
  • Cocodrie Cocahoe Trout
Phillip and I ran down to Delacroix and started off in the deep water and picked up 17 freckled fish at our first stop. After that bite slowed down we hit the flats for a few bronze beauties. We worked our way north and finished up the day over some oyster beds with another 21 specks. At 2 o clock the wind stopped and it was flat calm. The only problem was the gnats were more plentiful than.... Read More

Phillip and I headed down to Delacroix despite the weather forecast. We started out in deep water where Phillip caught a couple of freckled fish. Then the fun began, as we moved up on the flats to catch some bull reds. We had to move a couple of times to stay in clean water. We hit a couple of more deep holes for a total of twelve trout. Then we found a nice shoreline with a few more line.... Read More

Mark and I went to the causeway yesterday to see if we cash in on somegood trout. The bite started off slow, but we stuck with it and it paid off big time. We caught 35 heavy trout, five of them were 4 pounders. A dozen of the fish came on the troll and the rest were caught pitching the poles. Mark also caught a slam; trout, flounder and a red.

I went down to Delacroix saturday and had to run from the storms. I hit a few ponds and caught a handful of reds and bass before the heat got bad. There was almost as much grass as there was mullet.

  • Second one of the day
Phillip, Scott, and I left La Place at 3 am on mission to stick it to some snapper. We launched out of Fourchon and made bait in the marina, because no one had any live croakers. Little did we know that the fresh bait would play such a key role in today's fishing. We headed out to the GI blocks aoiding a couple storm cells and started catching some nice mangroves. We were surprised by the.... Read More

My neighbor invited me to go to the causeway with him. since the lunar tables rated today a ten, and the wind was expected to be 5 to 10; it was a no brainer. After we launched in the Tchefuncta and made the short run to the cuaseway. It took us a half an hour to find out that presentation the fish wanted. After that the avocado cocahoe went to worrk and we had steady bites until noon. We.... Read More

I got an invite from Capt. Tommy to go test some new baits he is working on. We launched out of Dularge headed out to Caillou Lake and make a big loop and ended up in Lake Mechant. We just kept worked the birds as we went along. A lot of the birds were on gafftops. Surprisingly, there were a lot of mixed pods of fish. The first fish would be a gafftop, and then we would catch a few trout..... Read More

  • Scuba Steve's Big Nasty
Scuba Steve and I did an afternoon trip out of Hopedale on sunday. The water was extremely low, but it had good visibility. We bounced around Hopedale Lagoon and put 20 freckled fish in the box. Steve had the catch of the trip, a 30# big nasty. Monday morning I went solo down to Delacroix looking for reds. It took a little while to find them. But, I got into the drag screaming, and tackle.... Read More

Mark and I went down to Delacroix to see if we coould beat the weather The first couple of stops only produced 2 or 3 fish a piece. We managed to pick up a dozen fish out of one of the deeper canals. We had our best bite on a leeward point with good current flowing around it. We caught 20 fish off that point. it was never wide open, just a steady pick. We ran over to the windward side of.... Read More

I went out on a solo mission today due to a last minute cancellation. I ran down to Delacroix and got on a steady bite of good trout. It is kind of hard to keep them in a frenzy when you are fishing by yourself. Especially when you are throwing a topwater bait. I was able to get my limit with a 14' average before the wind picked up. It was gorgeous morning on the water.

Offshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
I had Scuba Steve and Bisschop with me yesterday as we ran offshore to how many species we could put in the boat. We started off with our red snapper. They were all either 14 - 15 inches or 8 - 10 pounds. We also caught an 11 AJ, and a 23' cobia. We made a run after that and I put a 49' king mackerel in the boat. After another move I put a nice 9# magrove in the box and Steve put a almaco.... Read More

I rode along with big boy and his crew yesterday for a snapper trip. The weather was lumping on the way out so we took it nice and easy. We stopped at one of the rigs about 15 miles out and let the boys pull on some bull reds to get them warmed up and give the weather a chance to lay down. After that we made a run in search of mangroves, but never got into them real heavy. So we made another.... Read More

Inshore Fishing in Shell Beach / Hopedale / Reggio in Southeast Louisiana
I fished with Ziplock today out of BSM. We got an unusually late start due to some mis-communication. It turned out to be a bonus, because it allowed us to get some live shrimp for the trip. We ran into the marsh and found some nice hungry, fat trout, that were full of piss and vinegar. Even the couple of dinks that we caught had nice round bellies. We caught 40 trout, 1 red, and 3 heads.... Read More

I got invited to go out to Ponchartrain with my neighbor to get in on the hot trout bite. We were met with two to three footers when we came out of the river. We made our way to the causeway and threw in the trolling gear hoping it would lay down. Not even a drive bye. Then it laid down for a couple of hours and we put sixteen trout, a puppy drum, and a flounder in the boat. Then the two to.... Read More

I went out to the lake with my neighbor yesterday to see if we catch some of those freckled fish. The wind was blowing 10 mph when we got to the ramp, so we headed to the bridges. It took 40 minutes after we put the lines out to get the first fish. That was a sign of things to come. it was a sloow morning to say the least. The first fish was the smallest at 14', the rest of the fish were a.... Read More

Big Boy, Scuba Steve and myself left out of Fourchon yesterday on the first offshore trip of the year, and the gulf was full of life. I got a call from Ziplock yesterday morning that he and Mack were heading down to do some work on the camp and the wind wasn't blowing. So I headed down and we did an afternoon trip on Saturday for a limit of decent trout, a couple of 16 inchers in the Biloxi marsh. We also managed to pick up four flounder on our trip. We cooked the flounder for supper and got ready to try and duplicate it.... Read More

Ziplock and I left BSM yesterday and headed east of the MRGO searching for the incredible trout bite that everyone was reporting. It only took a couple of hours to catch our limit of trout. We lucked upon large schools of small pogeys that were the ideal bait. The trout ignored the shrimp but slammed the pogeys. We caught half a dozzen rat reds and a bull red throughout the day. We stopped.... Read More

Ziplock and I launched out of BSM on friday morning on our quest for some trout before the storm. The place was a zoo in the parking lot and on the water, due to the fact that they were the only place that had live shrimp on friday. We fished the rocks and Eloi for a slow steady pick of trout from 12' - 17'. We never could get onto a hot bite, but we did get our limit of specks, and a 17.... Read More
