Cooked lemon fish on grill for second time and it tased fishy. I can't believe this is right since I hear so much raving over this fish. The fish I cooked was a 46 pounder. Got an early start today, got to the landing before sunrise only to find earlier birds. Five boats on trailers getting ready to launch pulled up on side of them not to block the road. Proceaded to get ourselves ready only takes about 3 minutes including getting tickey to park. Buddy pulls truck up only to be cut off by someone more important! Launched out of Rigolets Marina about 8:30 after a very nice visit with young lady at the counter. Fished south end of lake at mouth of No Name Bayou. Kept 38 specks and threw back about 20 between 12 and 14 inches. All caught right on ledge on plastics,chartreuse deadly dudly and 3/8 jig head. Left about 11:30 when the knats got to be too much.

Making a trip to Slidell Friday afternoon thinking about bringing the boat. Never fished area before thinking about launching at The Dock or Rigolets Marina. How far and difficult to fish for the first time? Reds or trout don't matter, fishing in a 22ft pathfinder. Thanks in advance.

Brought two lady friends on their first boating trip and what a blast we had.Finished with 77 specks,2 white trout,1 nice red,1 giant drum,3 flounder and 4 dozen crabs. All trout caught in weeks bay on a little flat with no birds and no boats. Amazing! Rest caught in Oyster bay. Nice to introduce new fisherman to the sport without all the negatives.

I've been fishing Vermillion Bay for a couple of years now and was wondering if any body new where do the specks go at this time of year? Maybe out of the bay to the close in platforms beacause of salinity? I've fished a lot of canals in Marsh Island and have never caught any specks to seak of only catfish and reds.
