I know that trout move into the bays, to the islands, and to the beaches in late spring. I also know that they stay there through June and July what I don't know is when they start heading back in. Are they still on the beaches and at the islands; and if so when do they typically start heading back in.
Looking at possibly getting a new boat in a few months. I am looking at the blue wave 2400 but I am still undecided. I have been shopping around a bit and I keep wondering whether or not to get a T-top. I love the idea of extra storage and shade but I often fish 3-4 people and I was afraid that a T-top would decrease fish ability since it will hinder casting.
Just got a new boat that is rigged up for bow fishing. Been itching to go since I got it but wasn't sure if this time of year was any good for bow fishing inshore. Tried it in the amite river and learned afterward that apparently in the winter gar don't spend as much time on the surface.
I can fish the marsh for reds with a good amount of success but I doubt I've ever boated more than 100 speckled trout in all my trips combined. I really want to know how to fish the islands Casse tete, philo brice, northwest, and timbalier. I was hoping for some general pointers I'm hoping to give it a try again in a week or two. I'm not looking for the secrets just how do you fish it? Cork?....
Well sportsman TV just did it.Now I'm intrested in trying to run some trot lines in the amite river near port vincent or in the mississippi.
My question is regarding safety. All I have is a small jon boat and a 21' bay boat. Since I'll be using the bay boat I wanted to check with people that are more familiar with these areas than myself. Would you use your bay boat in the mulatto....
I was hoping someone could recommend a good shop to bring my boat to. I've tried bass pro shop and was severely disappointed. I've been to ascension marine but only once and that was years ago. I'm just looking for a shop where the work is done right, doesn't take 6 months, and someone I can trust.
Fished the west side of leeville pond hopping around the west access and Pierre et Lee. Fishing was good until the storm came in, we tied up under the bridge and fished there untill it passed. I was surprised that we actually caught a few specks under it. We went back out after the storm passed but fishing was a lot slower. We finished the day with 8 reds, 6 trout and a....
Fished leeville sunday fished the west side in the interior marshes and caught 11 reds two of which flopped their way back into the water, 5 drum, 1 flounder, and 1 3.5 lb speck. Went back down again on Tuesday and caught a 2 person limit of reds, 2 flounder, 1 speck, and a sheepshead.
Fished everything under a popping cork with a double rigged H&H sparkle beetle tipped with shrimp....
With my LSU finals coming to an end and more free time available I'd like to try some new areas. I am planning to fish Slidell this weekend because it's much closer to me than my usual fishing area (leeville). Any tips would be much appreciated, or hazards/places to avoid.
Oh and if you have a suggestion for somewhere with good fishing closer to denham springs let me know. Just....
Went to big Alabama today to try some freshwater fishing. It's only my second time over there and my second time ever trying my hand at freshwater. Must say I'm obviously not cut out for it. Hit the dock without a single fish.
LDWF stopped me and my girlfriend on my way out. They checked everything I had. My boat registration, fish licenses, ice chest, asked me if I knew the limits, even....
I'm going to try fishing Colyell Creek in French Settlement this weekend, but I've never fish freshwater. That's not entirely true, I have fished freshwater but it is a stocked pond in my backyard and that hardly counts. I'm fishing for anything that'll bite brim, bass, catfish, gar and sacalait (do they bite this time of year?). I'd really like to catch a gar as I've never caught one....
