Two weeks ago, I drove to Hopedale at night and spent the night in my truck at BSM. Mr Glen Sanchez greeted me in his friendly fashion with some hot coffee and helped me launch. I don't usually fish by myself, but on short notice, I don't get many people that can make the trip. I didn't do too well as far as catching fish on 2/16/13 due to the front passing through and high winds from the north..... Read More
I am ready to purchase my PowerPole and get it mounted. Does anyone have any recommendations as who to go to, or better yet, who NOT TO GO TO in the Baton Rouge area? I am leaning towards using The Trolling Motor Shop in Baton Rouge. I have heard good things about their work and their prices on the PowerPole seemed about the same as everyone else. Any feedback is appreciated.
I'm going to purchase a Power Pole in the next month or so. I've been looking at them, comparing them to the Talon and trying to cover all aspects of putting one on my boat.I have a 20ft Xpress Bay boat and fish mostly in the Hopedale/Delacroix area. I feel like the 8ft model would be just fine for most of the areas I fish. However, I wanted some feedback from current owners of Power Poles to.... Read More
Help me out guys- I've never fished Bayou Bienvenue and I'm wanting to fish in a some different areas during the winter months. I was looking to find some trout in the deeper waters. Where is the best place to launch? My boat is a 20ft Xpress Bay boat. Is there a launch that also sells live bait? Any help in directions is much appreciated.
Took my wife on 12/15/12 and left BSM at dawns early light in search of some trout in the deep canals. It was pretty chilly and the tide was low and rising. We started off really slow until around 2:30pm. She was careful to note that we really didn't need to be out there so early, lol. The trout seemed to have lock jaw. The highlight of the trip was catching some hungry reds back in Muscle Bay..... Read More
I watched Saturday as about 6 dolphins were in what appeared to bea feeding frenzy in the Stump Lagoon area. I was passed the island and was working my way into the canal to fish when I noticed 2 dolphins swimming very quickly through the water. One dolphin swam up the ditch just to the left side of the canal as you are heading to the back of Stump. I watched as the dolphins worked about a 100.... Read More
Thinking about fishing the oyster reefs in Lake Robin on Saturday. Was wondering if I would be peeing in the wind since the tide prediction is less than desireable to say the least. I figure there will plenty of water in Lake Robin. Any feedback?
Took my daughter out fishing in Hopedale and caught some nice trout. The best part of the trip was watching her fight this red and land it. This trip didn't come close to catching our limit, but seeing my daughter catching trout and redfish was a great day on the water!
Hey guys,
I've made about 5 trips to BSM & Campo's this season...not counting the trip where all of my gear was stolen. Can someone tell me the best route to get to Lake Robin from BSM. Also, once I get there, any good starting points? I'm not asking for anyone to give up their honey hole. I'm taking a friend this Saturday and I'm thinking about trying Lake Robin. I've always got plan B. I.... Read More
I brought my son, daughter and wife for a fishing trip to Hopedale this past Saturday 10/20/12. Normally, I pull the boat with my truck, but with the family along, we used my wifes SUV. While stopped at McDonalds just past Chalmette on Hwy 46, someone reached in my boat and stole 7 rods and reels in just the blink of an eye. My gear would have been in my truck if I had taken it, but we couldn't.... Read More
Last year, my wife caught her first red which was just over 27 inches. It seems that she has really caught on to chasing them now. These are a few that we caught in Lena Lagoon along with my first trout of the year. Looking forward to cooler temps and hotter fishing!
Just wondering if anyone has been catching any decent sized trout in St Malo. Headed down Friday to bring my kids and hoping to get them on some trout. I'm pretty sure I can pick up some reds, but trout, seem to be a little more elusive so far. I'm sure there will be no shortage of boats running through the waters this weekend. I'm still relatively new to the area...so I have a lot to.... Read More
Took my new Xpress Bay Boat for the first of many fishing trips this past Saturday. First let me say, 'Thank You' to the two gentlemen that helped me find my way through the marsh after I made a wrong turn. Once I got back on track, I headed to Lake Borgne and found a limit of hungry trout under birds sitting on top of the water. All trout were caught on plastics under a poppin cork. My.... Read More
What's the report for fishing out of Pointe a La Hache Marina? I am looking to come down in the next couple of weeks and wondered if it was possible to launch from here and if anyone had any reports on the specks in the marsh. I may adventure out to Black Bay. I'm anxious to try out my nex Xpress Bay boat. I don't expect to find live bait down there. I'll try to find some on the way down.
