We fish Venice and Dularge a few times a year, travel distance limits us to just a few trips. We have always fished the full moon in May and been successful. This years dates are set, but we always book a year ahead and so are looking at next year. The full moon is early in the month and I am afraid the April fronts and winds may still be blowing. What would you think about the days just before.... Read More
Report is a little late, but I have been busy prepping shrimp and fish for freezer. Had a great three day trip to Venice Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. We fished east of river with live shrimp and artificials. Live shrimp was much more effective, but largest fish was caught on a blue and chrome top dog. It was my largest trout to date at 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Fog caused us to start fishing late.... Read More
Thanks to Captain E.J. of Jean Lafitte Charters, my brother and I had a great morning of fishing Friday.
Fish were in the canals where side canals crossed or entered. Fish bit about equally well on white beetle under cork or curly tail chartreuse grub on bottom. Fish seemed to be in edge of currnt lines that looked slick on top.
Caught our limit by about noon and threw many 12- 12/12 inc.... Read More
Fished Friday and Saturday with Captain Dan Dix of MLC Charters out of Venice. Two older friends,[83 & 73],fishing with me this trip made guide selection a challenge. I selected MLC because of Dan's personality and his boat. It was the right decision. The Captains patience and understanding made for a great trip. His deep sided, stable boat made them feel comfortable.
Captain Dan posted a.... Read More
My friend posted a brief report thanking our guides for their work Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I always post results of our trips and any tips that might help fellow fishermen, so here goes.
The guides were great. Captains Ron Price, Jeff Fucia, and Dan Dix all did a good job. Our group varies wildly in experience and preferences. Do your homework and match fishermen and guides. Don't pu.... Read More
Seven Arkansas bass fishermen had a blast in Venice Thursday,Friday and Saturday. We fished with Brandon Carter, Reel Shot Guide Service 985-969-0810, and Jeff Fuscia, Delta Dawn Guide Service 504-382-5488 and couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed at the lodge they share and were treated well and thought the prices were very fair. Thursday the fishing was good, but not great, we caught.... Read More
Planning our annual trip to fish between March 22nd and May22nd.[not entire time,I wish, just one 4 day weekend] My question is what would be the best dates to fish during this period. We fishtrout and reds, mostly with artificial. I can read tide and moon charts, but don't know which combinations are best.We will be fishing Cocodrie-Dularge area and need to schedule guides and accomodations.... Read More
Myself and six friends fished out of Cocodrie Fri. and Sat. We had two boats and one boat fished east of Montegut and caught limits of reds each day. Can't be more specific on location because I'm not sure they knew where they were. Fished broken grass areas in marsh with most fish caught on gold spoons in duck ponds. Water was an 8 out of ten in general but a 10 in the ponds. Our boat fished.... Read More
Poor communication? Possibly. Deceitfull practices? Probably. Disappointed? Definitely. June 2nd my brother and two friends had a charter trip with Coco marina. Variations of this group take one or two charters every year. I usually make the arrangements, but this year my brother, who lives just out of New Orleans and has taken two or three charters a year for twenty years, volunteered to set it.... Read More
