I'm planning on building a smoke house sometime between now and next winter . I've been looking around at different designs on line and not really settled on how I'm going to do it yet .
So if anyone has some pics of theirs , or any tips they would like to share , like what works good or not , I would greatly appreciate it !!

The day started out great with bright sunshine and calm winds . When I put the boat in the water , around noon , the sky clouded up and the wind started howling ! Not good ..
Not much clean water to be found either , everything is still pretty muddy .
I only caught 13 but was glad of that considering the poor fishing conditions . It's good to see fish made it through Isaac also .

Tough day on the water today .. We fished the tickfaw , blood river area . My buddy Kent (aka slim) and son Austin fished with me and my son Laitin , we started out around 10:30 and didn't quit until around 5 .

That's why it's called fishin and not catchin! Looks like....
Just my opinion here , but this should be the best weekend so far this year for those of you that like to fish sacalait . The weather should be dang near perfect and the water temps should be climbing back up for the slabs to start moving up in the shallows to start their spawn .

We went in Maurepas swamp and hit a few ridges and canal banks where there were briars and found a few rabbits . Looks like a lot made it through the storms pretty good . We did see a lot of coyote sign , guess they have to eat too .
We ended the day with 7 rabbits and a few catfish off the trot line . But it was a nice day and we had a great time .

For those of you that use the doe in heat doe pee .. Do y'all leave the dip sticks out over night , or do y'all pick them up after each hunt ? I've always picked them up but a buddy said to leave them out because it may make a buck hang around .

Put in at the public launch on tickfaw this morning . Went down to the mouth of the river looking for a few trout or croakers . Didnt get a bite .. Tryed shrimp on bottom , sparkle beetles , and chrome rattle traps .

I was wondering anyone's personal opinions on the survival rate of deer in Maurepas swamp and Joyce WMA . I'm sure it's wiped out the whole rabbit populations . Any high spot or log for these animals to cling to is probably full of fire ants and moccasins . There are deer that were living on the edge of the swamp and high land that makes it but I'm guessing that's a small percentage . I am.... Read More

Just heard from a reliable source that freshwater fish were starting to pool up in the shallows , gasping for air , down the Amite river . Apparently these fish are about to die .
My question ... Is it against the law to scoop these fish up with a dip net ? They will only die and rot away ...

My beagles have always been kept in a kennel . I like running a small pack because they're easier to get in and out of a boat , so I only have 4 dogs . Had my son and two nephews down from destrehan for the frog rodeo . We left early to get to our lil area and put out a few gar jugs until it got dark . Got there around 4 and it was on .
