Lon Randall and his wife Blythe came in and stayed at the Reel Inn. Forecast was for 7-9kts but the wind was up over 15 early so I wasn't sure how good the fishing would be. We found a couple birds diving on a point so I drifted in and it was fish on. Lon and Blythe put the hammer down and never looked back. Working our double rigged Matrix by bouncing them off the bottom they had singles and....  Read More

It's was day 2 with our 5 boat charter with the guys from up north. We left out the Reel Inn early to pick up live shrimp. Jason joined Todd and Kenneth today. The north wind had the reef we wanted to fish dirty but we tried it anyways since we were there. I Power poled down in about 5 ft of water and on his first two casts Jason hooked up with a keeper trout so it was looking good. Seemed like....  Read More

Doyle Gaston and Todd Smith brought a big group down from West Monroe to get in on some trout fishing. The forecast was little off with the amount of wind we got but it wasn't too bad. Todd and Kenneth jumped on the Bluewave with me. The birds really didn't fly much so we had to stick with fishing reefs and points. Fortunately we didn't need the birds. We found a bunch of mullet and some....  Read More

It's been a tough April with all the bad weather. I got the new BW and had to cancel 5 straight trips. Luckily the weather calmed down just a little today for Jeremiah's crew to slime up the new boat. The SE wind blew but compared to what we have had lately it was just a puff of air. Water was a little dingy but with the high waters we've been having the water hung in there even with all the....  Read More

Earl and Bob were back on the Bluewave. Forecast showed low winds and gradually growing thru the day. We had a slight breeze at daybreak and we found trout in hot pursuit of shrimp. We put the double rigs to use and a bit surprising the trout were decent size with many more keepers than throwbacks. We caught multiple doubles using a bounce type retrieval. The trout would hit them on the fall. By....  Read More

After a few cancellation last week due to high winds we were back at it. Tyler Baker and crew came down to get some fishing in on a rare day off. We were greeted with perfect conditions. So perfect we had to spray a little Swamp Swatter to keep the gnats off early. But when the fish are biting better than the gnats you know it's going to be great day. We started off with a good start catching....  Read More

It was a busy morning down at the Reel Inn. Cajun Industries were back down with a large group of guys. At their request Shawn P cooked up some steaks and cheesy potatoes and finished them off with some bread pudding. The guys were up early ready to jump on the Bluewaves for a trout smack down. We had 5 boats running and we all spread out. I started on a reef in about 3ft of water chunking....  Read More

Don and his wife made the long trip from Oklahoma to experience trout fishing for the first time. They told me about a grumpy charter captain in Texas they experienced only catching one red fish with so I liked our chances of them having a great trip. We left out the Reel Inn at day break planning on hitting a reef but we got side tracked with some birds. Should've just went to the reef because....  Read More

John Dickinson was back on the Bluewave along with his boys. The forecast was calling for stout winds early and decreasing as the day went on. We decided to get a late start around 9. We found the winds whipping as we headed out. We ducked into the marsh just trying to hide from the wind. We ran up on some birds chasing shrimp in a flat near some deep water. The guys put 20 on ice quick before....  Read More

The weather was the issue this weekend. Luckily our crew were good sports. Yesterday by 9:30ish the sky fell and we had to take cover at a camp for a while and when we had a window we ran. Since the guys didn't get much fishing time, later in the afternoon we were able to get the guys a few more hours of catching. Last night the front worked its way south and the rain was fierce but was gone in....  Read More

I helped Capt. Marty out today with a 4 boat charter. This time of year conditions dictate everything. We had a calm morning before the storm and the trout were grouped up real nice on a reef with a current line running thru it. We had birds flying around and as tempting as it was we stuck the Powerpole and only moved when the sky fell. The fish were decent sized with only a few throwbacks. We....  Read More

I was back at it today with Rick Davison's crew. The water dropped about a foot but was still very clean. Yesterday we fished points, cuts, and reefs and we learned that the trout are not holding on the reefs yet and were constantly on the move. Many were eating shrimp which was a great sight to see. Today we mainly fished points with tide lines. It was a mix between Tightline and under corks.....  Read More

Sure was nice to be back on the water. We finally had no rain but the wind was up to 15-20 all day which cut some areas out for us. This past weekend of high tides brought in some nice salty and clean water which was nice to see. After some debate about flooding, Rick Davison and crew made there way in from Texas. We started off struggling, we moved around finding no concentration of fish. We....  Read More

Spring is just around the corner and our fishing is starting to show some of the characteristics. Sonny Restivo brought a crew down to the Reel Inn to enjoy some bonding time with good friends. Good food and some adult beverages the night before set up a good night sleep. We left out at day break to a chilly ride but more of an early spring run. We started off deep in the marsh in hopes of....  Read More

We had a big group come in from Texas and stay at the Reel Inn. The guys came hours from home to catch bull reds. Capt. Mark set out to site fish. I grabbed the Matrix and some bait shrimp and left out in search of the big bruisers. We headed south and our first stop to my surprise I was reeling a dead shrimp back to the boat fairly quick when a nice 16inch trout hit it. I thought wow maybe....  Read More

I tried something new today. We had a group coming in from Texas wanting bull reds on Sunday so I jumped on Capt. Mark's flats boat with an 8ft tower. We took off toward the coast where big donkeys are hanging out. It didn't take long to start seeing fish in the shallows and after missing a few I stuck our first one. We worked around the area for a couple hours making sure Mark was ready for....  Read More

February seems to be the toughest month of the year down here in Dularge and seems to be similar in many areas seen by the lack of reports. Today Erik and Shannon Mollerberg pulled a fast one on February. The scouting I did yesterday made the difference today. There was no question where to go and where not to go and we were rewarded. The bite was a bit slow to start picking up around 10-12....  Read More

I've been on the sidelines for almost 3 weeks due to a bulging disc but with it feeling better and charters on deck I had to get out and see what was going on. With my buddies and fellow guides off we decided to go look around and check areas we haven't fish. We left out at 10 and we found plenty of dirty water and finally found some 'cleaner' water. Definitely wasn't clean but fishable. We....  Read More

If you have followed Dularge reports this past week our trout bite has been tough. Our salinity is very low and I think it's been the main issue. I had Marty Hayden and crew back on the Bluewave today. We started where I had beat up on the reds yesterday but with the water temp was up a couple of degrees and the reds had moved out only leaving a few throwbacks. We moved around chunking our....  Read More

I helped out Capt. Marty with the Turner Industries crew today. The water temp was about 52 degrees which puts it in the 'weird zone'. Under 50 degrees the reds stack up and trout usually like it around 55. We picked up 3 trout fairly quick to start our day off which gave me a little hope they might turn on as the water warmed. That didn't happen but we did find the reds stacked up in a....  Read More

It was day 2 with Inolect. A common theme at the Reel Inn was that everyone was 'fat and happy'. If you haven't had the opportunity to be 'fat and happy' you're missing out. We started off this morning just like yesterday catching a good amount of throwbacks but overall there were more keepers going into the K2. The biggest difference from yesterday was the tide. We had a strong incoming....  Read More

The Inolect crew were back down at the Reel Inn. Half the crew went duck hunting and the other half went fishing. Dan, Drew, and Ryan were with me. The guys started catching as soon as the Shrimp Creole Matrix were thrown and it didn't matter if they were under a cork or tightlined because the trout were hungry. We started off with catching undersized trout with a few keepers every cast and as....  Read More

The last trip of the year ended with a bang. Kirk and his son Ethan were back on the Bluewave after having to reschedule a few trips due to weather. We got an early start in some chilly temps. The water temperature had dropped about 7 degrees since Sunday's trip following the little front we had Monday. The trout took about 20 minutes or so to wake up but when they did they were hungry. We....  Read More

Today was not the day I recommend my clients to go fishing but they were determined even with the 20-25kt wind forecasted. Clark King had his boys in town from out of state so it was now or never. We left out of the Reel Inn with 20 plus mph winds and I knew it was going to be a grind it out kind of day. With the water temps up and the tide very high it was to be expected the fish would be....  Read More

A beautiful calm morning with a slight haze of fog covered our fishing territory this morning. The Inolect Jersey boys Gary and Bob were back on the Bluewave for day 2 along with Lonnie Barr. The guys only had a short window to fish because they had to make their flight back home plus a front was going to push thru had us with an early morning decision. I opted for a reef to play with the trout....  Read More
