The Bluewave was in action today with Steve Sasser and his daughter Terri. We had perfect conditions today and the trout responded. The first cast on a reef I have been fishing resulted into a keeper. We put a quick 20 in the K2 before it slowed. We worked over the reef for an additional 20 before we had to make a move. There were a lot of boats out today so I couldn't just go anywhere I....  Read More

  • Both boats total for the day
The Bisso crew was at it again this morning. The guys didn't want to fish for long and it worked out perfectly. We loaded up the Bluewave and made our way down Bayou Dularge. The wind was fierce so we weren't sure what we would find. We made one stop on a reef 3-5ft deep and the trout started to cooperate. The action wasn't as fast as yesterday but it was steady. We fished for a few hours....  Read More

  • Double time!
  • Capt. Marty and my crews' fish
  • Fast N Furious
BISSO Marine had their first trip of the year today. They picked a winner that's for sure. We left out of the Reel Inn in the Bluewave. A 3-5ft reef was our first stop. We drifted until we picked up a fish and Powerpole went down. At one point we got on a fast n furious bite for about 20 minutes. We had 75 when the light switched off. On our way to the next stop we saw some birds diving. We....  Read More

The Bluewave was back in action today. Michael Romaguera and his dad Michael were on board. The weather threw us a curveball this morning with the strong NW winds. We decided to stick with the trout plan and to my surprise when we first pulled up to the reef the water was dirty but we caught a few trout. The bite was slow with the poor conditions but I wasn't moving as long as we were catching....  Read More

We were at it again this morning. I helped Capt. Marty out with his Inolect crew. We got a late start waiting for the wind to calm a little because of the passing storms. Lonnie, Jamie, Hue, and Mike jumped on the Bluewave and we were off. The first hour or two it wasn't looking good but when the winds calmed down the trout bite turned on even tho the water wasn't the prettiest. We fished a....  Read More

  • Triple hook up
Daniel Louque brought in some friends from Jamaica to get in on some fishing. Not your normal Jamaican crew tho, Ewing from Scotland and Wayne who is Chinese are transplants to Jamaica. The rain pushed us back to leaving around 10:45. The wind was blowing over 20 so bull reds was the plan. I stopped at a 3ft reef on the way. Water was dirty but we threw a few cast and picked up a trout and....  Read More

All this bad weather has really put a damper on our opportunity to chase trout. Capt. Rob and I saw a window in the weather and hopped on the Bluewave for a quick afternoon trip. We found some decent water and Capt. Rob started us off with a hammer. We made a couple hundred yard drift and put 4 trout in the K2. I decided to start chunking a Shrimp Creole under a cork and it was game on. The....  Read More

Ryan O'Callaghan's crew were back for round 2 on the Bluewave. The weather got a little nasty just as we expected. Since the guys caught the trout yesterday we targeted the big fish today. Pretty slack tide when we pulled up. 2 oz. Carolina rigs with half of a crab went flying and the black beauties struck first. Might of had 5 before the first red peeled drag. The tide started coming in and....  Read More

Ryan O'Callaghan, Chuck, and Rick came down from Missouri while Ryan's dad Pat met them from Baton Rouge. First time for Chuck and Rick to fish in LA so they were excited. The morning actually started really tough. Weather was nice but the trout were elusive. We covered a lot of area and our team of guides were having a fairly tough time too. At 10:30 we 4 trout and a red. One thing great....  Read More

Today was a bunch of first for my crew. Rob Landry with his 10yr old boy Blake and his 14yr old twins Charlie and Will joined me on the Bluewave. The boys hadn't ever caught a speck or a red nor had ever casted a spinning reel. All that changed today. I tried to give them a little bit of everything to experience and luckily everything worked out. We spent the first couple of hours searching for....  Read More

  • Trout were spitting out little croakers
Jason Hattaway came down from Alabama with his brother Jeff and their dad Kenneth. The guys walked down the Reel Inn stairs at daybreak and jumped onto the Bluewave. Slick calm conditions most of the morning which was a positive and a negative. The gnats were out but the trout were biting. I started on a reef about 3ft deep. The guys were catching on Shrimp Creole under a cork while I was....  Read More

We had 6 boats running this morning out of the Reel Inn with Cajun Industries. All the captains did a great job putting everyone on the fish. I had Scott and Garrett with me on the Bluewave. Our biggest issue was catching undersized trout. They came out thick with a few keepers mixed in. Not sure how many small trout we had but it had to be at least 6 to 1 ratio. Shrimp Creole Matrix under cork....  Read More

Back at it again this morning with Scott and Garrett on the bluewave. We had 5 boats running the Cajun Industries crew and we didn't have a lot of time to catch because the guys only wanted to fish for a couple of hours since most had long drives home. The wind was up this morning so some of the areas we caught yesterday were off limits. We all spread out, I started on a flat in 3 foot of water....  Read More

Big D and Mattier joined me today on the Bluewave. A windless morning had us venturing thru the fog. Our first stop was a 3 ft reef and the gnats were biting a lot better than the specks. We only picked up 3 specks and we were off. Next stop was a cut with the water falling out. We actually saw gulls diving on bait so I trolled to them and it was on. Keepers and throwbacks mixed in. When the....  Read More

Following my charter on Saturday I headed to a buddy's camp for two days of hunting nutria, bass fishing, and frogging. The main reason we were going were to shoot nutria but we couldn't pass on everything Louisiana has to offer. For those that have never done it, well I'll just say it's awesome and if you get a chance to go you need to jump on it. All you need is a 12 gauge and/or a 22....  Read More

We had a 3 boat bachelor party today. I had the Wisconsin guys with me on the Bluewave. We left out of the a Reel Inn in some foggy conditions. Once we arrived at our first location within a few cast Mark, Bo, and Derrick had a triple hook up. With Opa reeling one in not long after I knew we were going to have a great day. The trout were on a flat about 2 foot deep. We started chunking the....  Read More

The trout have made an appearance in lower DU. Rick Hundley's crew joined me this morning on the Bluewave. The guys are down from Kansas. There was no option to reschedule due to the rain so we made the best of it. We left out of the Reel Inn a little after 7. We started off on a point with the guys catching a red and 2 puppy drum quick and then nothing. It was a good start considering Jared....  Read More

David Smith and his friends Richard and Neil were on the Bluewave this morning. Seemed like the weatherman was off. We had a stiff west wind at daybreak. We hit a few spots looking for trout with only 8 and a red to show. The guys really wanted some reds so we turned our attention to them. It took us a little bit to find them but we found them stacked up in a cut. Most were 22-25 inches. We did....  Read More

The third and final day with my Kansas crew was a windy one on the Bluewave. Rick Hunley and crew have spent 3 days down in Dularge at the Reel Inn and we saved the best for last. We started out chunking Shrimp Creole Matrix under a cork on a flat near some deep water. We picked up 6 and a red within a matter of minute and then ice cold. That was the trout story of the day. Keep moving and pick....  Read More

Rick Hunley and his Kansas boys were back on the Bluewave this morning for round 2. We started off in foggy conditions and the trout cooperated. Not an insane bite but better than yesterday. We picked up 20 at our first stop and decided to move around looking for a faster bite. We found trout at most spots we stopped. The trout are scattered and are all about the Shrimp Creole Matrix under a....  Read More
