If you have followed Dularge reports this past week our trout bite has been tough. Our salinity is very low and I think it's been the main issue. I had Marty Hayden and crew back on the Bluewave today. We started where I had beat up on the reds yesterday but with the water temp was up a couple of degrees and the reds had moved out only leaving a few throwbacks. We moved around chunking our....  Read More

I helped out Capt. Marty with the Turner Industries crew today. The water temp was about 52 degrees which puts it in the 'weird zone'. Under 50 degrees the reds stack up and trout usually like it around 55. We picked up 3 trout fairly quick to start our day off which gave me a little hope they might turn on as the water warmed. That didn't happen but we did find the reds stacked up in a....  Read More

It was day 2 with Inolect. A common theme at the Reel Inn was that everyone was 'fat and happy'. If you haven't had the opportunity to be 'fat and happy' you're missing out. We started off this morning just like yesterday catching a good amount of throwbacks but overall there were more keepers going into the K2. The biggest difference from yesterday was the tide. We had a strong incoming....  Read More

The Inolect crew were back down at the Reel Inn. Half the crew went duck hunting and the other half went fishing. Dan, Drew, and Ryan were with me. The guys started catching as soon as the Shrimp Creole Matrix were thrown and it didn't matter if they were under a cork or tightlined because the trout were hungry. We started off with catching undersized trout with a few keepers every cast and as....  Read More

The last trip of the year ended with a bang. Kirk and his son Ethan were back on the Bluewave after having to reschedule a few trips due to weather. We got an early start in some chilly temps. The water temperature had dropped about 7 degrees since Sunday's trip following the little front we had Monday. The trout took about 20 minutes or so to wake up but when they did they were hungry. We....  Read More

Today was not the day I recommend my clients to go fishing but they were determined even with the 20-25kt wind forecasted. Clark King had his boys in town from out of state so it was now or never. We left out of the Reel Inn with 20 plus mph winds and I knew it was going to be a grind it out kind of day. With the water temps up and the tide very high it was to be expected the fish would be....  Read More

A beautiful calm morning with a slight haze of fog covered our fishing territory this morning. The Inolect Jersey boys Gary and Bob were back on the Bluewave for day 2 along with Lonnie Barr. The guys only had a short window to fish because they had to make their flight back home plus a front was going to push thru had us with an early morning decision. I opted for a reef to play with the trout....  Read More

Inolect was back down for a couple days. I had the New Jersey guys with me on the Bluewave. Always a good time taking people from out of state because they are always in aw of our resource. It's been a warm winter so we started in open water on a reef using Shrimp Creole Matrix under a Matrix Float. We got on a quick bite and put close to 30 on ice before it shut down. Birds are still flying....  Read More

Michael Romaguera and crew joined me this morning for a wind fest. The guys were down from Monroe and ready to catch whatever was willing to bite. We had about a 15mph SE wind when we left the Reel Inn. The plan was to hit a protected reef in about 2-3ft of water with shrimp creole matrix under the new Matrix float. Although we were protected there wasn't much of a bite so we ventured off into....  Read More

Just when things were getting back to easy catching the wind came back today. Big D and 2 of his buddies jumped on the Bluewave. We had a good breeze out of the south to start so I chose a protected point. A couple throwbacks and a keeper along with plenty of gnats was all we found so I decided to jump out into open water and fish a reef in about 3ft of water. No gnats and the trout were there.....  Read More

Looks like today was the last of the great conditions we've been having for at least a few days. Guess it's typical tho for the weekend warriors. I feel your pain since I was once there. Onto the report, Aaron Lawler was back on the Bluewave with 3 friends. We left out of the Reel Inn at daybreak to slick calm conditions and no fog. Within a minute or two of shutting down the Yamaha Aaron was....  Read More

Day 4 with the Texans and the trout saved their best show for the last day. Capt. Marty helped me out today and with fog bellowing down on the bayou we headed out cautiously in our Bluewaves. Just like the last 3 days we found a rock star bite at our first stop. Fish were hanging on a 2ft ledge next to some 6ft water. We caught a few tightlining on the Green Hornet but the trout really were....  Read More

The Texas crew rotated today. Dalton was still with me but Val, Roy, and Chris jumped on the Bluewave this morning. We had a few more than could fit on my boat so since they are Bobby's guest he took his boat out so everyone could fish. We started off fast and furious with the trout slamming our Matrix Shad. Didn't matter if it was tightened or under a cork they were hungry. At 7:30 with over....  Read More

Day 2 with the Texans minus one. Dalton, Bruce and John were on the Bluewave this morning. Another early start but the temperature was about 10 degrees higher than yesterday which made for a 'not to bad' of a ride. We started off in about 6ft of water fishing a ledge. The trout took about 30 minutes to warm up but then the head shaking began. Nothing like the cha cha cha of a cork and the....  Read More

Bobby Spradling was back in town with a few Texans. The guys were up early and ready to roll so we got an early start. We started in a cove with about 6ft of water. At daybreak the Green Hornet was getting violated with multiple back to back catches. With about 15 on ice the school moved. I put the Xi5 to work and within a few minutes the trout switched gears and wanted the shrimp creole under a....  Read More

Finally a day where our sombreros weren't blown off. It's the first day in over a month that I can remember where the winds were under 15mph. It's been an odd November down in Dularge, high winds, high water, and high water temperatures have had our fish spread out. Fortunately with the high water the water has been clean even out in the lakes. Brandon Moore and his daughter Lexi and son....  Read More

For many of you weekend warriors the weather hasn't been kind lately but finally we had a day we could work with and many anglers were taking advantage of it. Stacie and crew were on the Bluewave this morning. Some jeans and a sweatshirt is all that was needed to be comfortable which is very odd at the end of November. Our fish have been on the move a lot lately with high water temps and high....  Read More

Greg Stock and his family were back on the Bluewave this morning. With it being an extremely windy Fall there are a lot of areas that have dirty water which has limited us on where we can fish. Today was no different, the winds were up and we stuck it out in the marsh. The falling tides in the morning have been fierce too making some of the cuts and small bayous tough to fish but to combat the....  Read More

Dan Ducote's crew were down on the bayou this morning. Pumped and ready to go they loaded the Bluewaves ready to put the hurt on the trout. We had a few first time speck fishermen so that was fun to watch them catch their first specks. we fished birds and reefs. The bigger fish came off of reefs. We were able to get on a decent bite before the front pushed thru and the sky fell. Luckily....  Read More

Paul Salvant and a few buddies were back on the Bluewave this morning. A little breeze to start but that didn't last long as it quickly moved over 20mph. Seems to be the theme lately. We got on a nice bite at day break with shrimp creole matrix under a cork. We put 45 on ice but once the wind picked up the bite shut down. We worked over the area for a few more but had to make a move. We moved....  Read More

After being shut down for two days due to weather we were back at it this morning. The Bercen crew came in and jumped onto the Bluewaves. I had Greg and Jim with me and we started off on a reef chunking a shrimp creole matrix under a cork. It started slow but as the sun came up and the chill of the air dropped the trout responded. The trout are not grouped up so after a few being caught in one....  Read More

The weather has been the game lately. Burt and Connie joined me on the Bluewave this morning and sadly with 12-17kt winds forecasted it looked good because winds have been blowing real hard. My crew were on their first charter trip and mainly fished for freshwater species but wanted a change of pace. Fortunately the winds were down early on and we started in the marsh with Connie catching her....  Read More

The forecasters got it right today. The winds were relentless and gave us very little to work with in terms of areas to fish. The covert fishing crew were back on the Bluewave for day 2. We started off in a protected cove up against some Roseau cane which helped a lot. Chunking the new Sea-C Shad and Tiger bait under a cork had us steadily catching trout with a few of them being real nice size.....  Read More

I helped Capt. Rob out today with the Bums Fishing Crew. They had a few cancel in their group but they kept their commitment to 3 boats. George and his son Bryan drew the straw to be on the Bluewave with me. We started out in the marsh catching close to a dozen tightlining and under a cork. We moved out to the lake to find endless amounts of birds diving on shrimp. The school trout were feeding....  Read More

It was good to get Kevin Sellars and his buddy Jim back on the Bluewave. Kevin unfortunately tends to bring some bad weather with him but after rescheduling twice we finally had a forecast to work with. We started where I've been catching for a few weeks now only to find a slow bite. They have been very light switch like so I was patient but with only 9 specks in the K2 I couldn't take it....  Read More
