Deer Hunting in Lake D`Arbonne in Northeast Louisiana
I had a question for some of you who have had experience with supplemental feeding in the past. I'm going to begin a supplemental feeding program on the land I hunt here in North Central Louisiana but wanted to ask around to see what might be the best feed to use.

Right now I've narrowed it down to three: Purina's AntlerMax Deer Chow, Record Rack Golden Deer Nuggets or Delta Whitetails.... Read More

Mr. Glynn Harris was gracious enough to just post the story about this buck. I just wanted to share a few more pictures of him for those who are interested. Killed Monday, 1-21-13, in Tensas Parish at Winter Quarters Hunting Camp. Sported 11 points and was measured at 149 5/8 inches. Deer of a lifetime as far as I'm concerned. Lots of thanks to my buddy Lane Cox who put me on this stud!

Just wondering what everyone else is setting as far as where we are in the rut phase in the North Central Louisiana area (Lincoln, Union, Claiborne) parishes.

Last week while hunting, I had 2 does and a yearling come out on the pipeline I was hunting. They fed down to the feeder then exited the lane. Within 2 minutes of them exiting the lane, a nice, but young 7 point entered at the exact.... Read More

  • Here he is back in early August
  • Here he is last week--see what I mean, it's basically the exact same pose
  • Another view
After getting pics of this big guy back around the first of August he disappeared on me. Well, a week ago he started showing up again on the other side of the lease in one of our small bow plots. Man, it's good to see him back.

It's funny because he basically holds his head in the exact same position in two separate pictures. While we're looking at it, how old do you think he is. I've.... Read More

I'm still relatively 'new' to hunting, but I pick up on things well enough. The friends I hang around are avid outdoorsmen and my fiance's family are all outdoors people too so I've learned a lot in two years.

I'm a decent judge at age, but I'm no expert. Thought I'd seek some help from y'all on some of these.

Had a question for some of you who might know a bit better than me concerning this topic. I killed my first buck this season and although I didn't want to pay the $300-$400 it would cost to mount him (because he was a cull buck at the camp I shot him at), I still wanted to have him mounted. I elected to do a European mount myself and so far, things have gone well. I needed some suggestions.... Read More

Finally killed my first buck! Shot this 9 pt (his G3 on the left side is broken) on 12-27-11 in Madison Parish, Louisiana at my future father-in-law's camp. 1,500 beautiful acres of free-range hunting just across the levee from the Mississippi River and from Diamond Island. Couldn't have been happier with my first buck. It was classified as a cull because of the anomalies. Old deer, weighed in.... Read More
