Nicole and I headed on down the road today to check the pumpkin patch out of Sweetwater Marina today. Water is still pretty dirty around areas that abnormally crystal clear this time of year but when we did find the clean water, the reds were thick. Started a little off with breaking off 4 reds, no clue why, but kept trolling on down the grass beds and finally got on a roll and Nicole and I.... Read More
It's been an awesome past two weeks in the lake. This southeast and south wind has been keeping the water clean and raising the salinity everyday. Nicole and I worked hard for a couple days last week and found them stacked one afternoon and have been getting after them every morning or afternoon we can. Bait of choice has been the Midnight Mullet Matrix Shad on a 3/8 Jighead. Been a tough bite.... Read More
Headed down to Lake Charles this past weekend to make a trip with Captain Jeremy Waltrip and dam it was probably one of the best big trout trips I've made in my life! Started off on Saturday afternoon throwing mirrodines and ultraviolet Matrix Shads and catching a bunch of bull reds and some decent specks close to the launch and then the next morning headed down south for some monsters! It was.... Read More
Cold and windy Marsh day yesterday so I had to head on down to the island. Water was warmer than it has been so the fish held around the holes instead of in them and as usual for this time of year, they were big and fat! Tried a mirrorodine for a little bit but couldn't fish it too well because it was so windy so I stuck with old faithful and put on a 3/8 Bulls Eye Jighead and a Kamkaze Vortex.... Read More
Only in Louisiana can you have tables that look like this. Hopefully this last front gets out of the way soon because the fishing has just been getting better and better everyday. Kamikaze Vortex Shads and Ultraviolet Matrix Shads were the trick the past couple days. And tube jigs in blue and white and opening night for the sac a lait. Looking forward to a good spring filled with tons of nice.... Read More
Started out the morning with a cool breeze out on the lake and caught a few more nice specks and then went and smoked the sac a lait in the afternoon. Won't be long before the specks really turn on out there in the lake but days like this will definitely keep me entertained for a while. Caught the specks jigging the Ultraviolet Matrix Shad and the Nightruse Vortex Shad again. And sac a lait on.... Read More
Few specks on the tracks in the morning and a box full of bass and specks in the afternoon. Specks and flounder were caught jigging the Ultraviolet and Nightruse Matrix and Vortex Shads and sac a lait were caught jigging opening night and blue and white micro jigs.
Filled the box with a whole lot of sac a lait and a few perch and bass. Winds blowing 40+ and got rained on a good bit but the fish didn't care. Stanley wedgetails and a couple different flies did the trick. Caught two monster sac a lait on a UV matrix shad on a small spin blade. Try it next time your out there. You'll only catch a few but they'll be huge!
Well much like most of my last posts, its been tons of reds. We went out the other and got into some of our deep canals we be been fishing and slammed the reds again and then continued to tag em till I ran out of tags again and then even brought the mini spins this trip for a really awesome fight. Went the bext day and it was the same story, reds until you cant take em anymore. Caught em on Pink.... Read More
A little of what we've been doing on the warmer days over the past couple weeks. Put this together the other day trying out some new video techniques. Throwing Matrix Shads and Vortex Shads on weedless hooks and the rest is fly fishing with Captain Jonathan Allen and Captain Tristan Daire in some real skinny winter water levels. There aint nothing better to do this time of.... Read More
Took my girlfriend out the other day an found the reds stacked up in another new spot in bievnue for this winter. Caught them on a 3/8 Golden Eye Jighead with a Pink Chanpagne Matrix Shad in about 12 feet of water around a bunch of trash and snags. Felt like some old camps or fallen trees were down there. The reds loved it. Probably caught our ten in the first ten cast then ill let her catch a.... Read More
Got in some of the long straight canals that we were fishing in December and it was the same story. Jigging the grass lines with the Pink Champagne Matrix Shad and the Spartacus Vortex Shad on a 3/8 Bulls Eye Jighead and filled the box with limits of reds and bass. And even caught some really nice bass this trip. Check out the latest DocksideTV video 'From Red to Green' for more info on this.... Read More
Got into the skinny water down the road on Friday morning with my good friend Captain Jonathan Allen in his beautiful Hells Bay Guide and dispute the horrible, windy, cold conditions, we managed to put the hurt on a bunch of gorilla redfish from 18 pounds on up to 28. We caught em on the flies until the wind made it almost impossible and then we took out the Tiger Bait Matrix Shads and continued.... Read More
Went out Saturday to do some sight fishing and slammed our limits of reds and the when the wind picked up and clouds came out we blind casted into the clouds of mud the reds were kicking up as tagged em until I ran out of tags. We through Tiger Bait and Pink Champagne Matrix Shads on weedless hooks and also caught a couple blind casting into the schools with a cork. The reds are deep on those.... Read More
Been hearing a lot about the duck hunting being so hard this year but there's been no problem on the many public lands I've hunted this year. From down the river to around the lake. Have had a few hunts where the peuldue made it a bit of a longer hunt by keeping the birds out of my decoys but its been a spectacular year so far. Hopefully this arttic blast this week will drive even more birds.... Read More
The same old story. Limits of reds and a couple nice specks in the mix. The reds have been like bees in those deeper water spots the past couple weeks. We jigged the grass lines of the deeper canals with the Tiger Bait Matrix Shad on a 3/8 Bulls Eye Jighead and caught our limits of reds in no time and added a couple nice specks to the mix and left before we froze ha.
We've been jigging the grass lines in some long straight canals that have a nice and deep drop off and striking gold. Limits of reds and then filling the box with specks, nice bass, and flounder. Tiger Bait ad Kamikaze has been doing the damage.
