Wanted to get out on the water pretty early so my Uncle could get some sunrise pictures so with all the boats running to the north shore, we decided to launch at delagos in Irish Bayou. Got out on the water and started jiggin a green hornet on the east side on the south shore. Wasn't doing much all morning so when the tide slacked I thought I would make a move and stick a couple. Started putting.... Read More
Go to the island around 2 this morning to fish some lights and the tide was dead so so was the bite. Also on my third cast of the morning I went to move down and slipped on some rocks and my hand ended up getting shredded by some oyster shells and barnacles so I wrapped it up in a rag and finally got the bleeding to stop. We went and slept in the truck through that rain and then headed to.... Read More
Left around 2 after my class this morning and headed down to the island. Stopped at a couple spots and caught some live shrimp, croaker, and cocahoes and headed to the fish. Tried a bunch of different spots that weren't really doin to well and then hit one of my last spots and it was on!!!! Hit my 25 specks in no time and 5 more 18 inche reds. Caught and tagged around 35 more specks and reds and.... Read More
I went out to do some testing the other day and ended up finding a couple nice spots full of lobsters. Only was out there for maybe 2 hours with 8 nets and ended up with about 3/4 sack of big ones. Me and Shawn will be on them this weekend and will bring everything and try to get a couple sacks since it looks like they're finally ready.
My friend Joe gave me a call on Sunday afternoon asking if I wanted to hit the trestles so we headed over there for around 4, got over to see only a couple other boats. He snagged a fat trout on the second cast with a midnight mullet. Nothing for a while so we made a slight move and tried a Green Hornet with a dipped tail and it was on! We hammered some monsters and then the rain came and scared.... Read More
Well ran out to hopedale in the flat on Saturday and put a hurting on some nice specks out by lake robin. Started off at one of the passes picking off trout left and right on a Vudu shrimp under a cork until my 20 braid couldn't take the abuse from the trout teeth and I ended up loosing both of my Vudu shrimp to trout tearing through some cheap braid I had. Caught tons of trout on the Vudu but.... Read More
Shawn and I met up at the launch yesterday morning around 7 to get on some awesome perch action we've been hearing about. We made made the short run in the in the old flat boat and immediately started hammering some nice sized fish. Most of the perch were caught on small micro jigs in basically any color and some of the monster perch and goggle-eye were caught on a Stanley Wedgetail mini. Micro.... Read More
Well Shawn and I finally got a chance to get together and went to put a hurting on some crawfish in one of the spots that ive been testing. Got out there around 7 and left for about 10 and boiled them up for the friends and family later that night. The action wasnt quite good as last year yet but with this hotter weather for this weekend we should do a lot better. Ended up with about a full sack.... Read More
Caught a whole bunch of fish last week in City Park. A couple decent size ones but nothing big enough. Tried topwater, jigs, spinner baits, but the only thing I consistently caught on was a Texas rigged worm and a Matrix Shad on a jig head. That thing catches fish everywhere!!!
Well hit Hopedale the other day to check out what the water has been looking like a did pretty well.
Found clean, moving water and caught hundreds of fish. Too bad they were mostly all 11 inches ha. Tagged a bunch of fish and then went and found a good little mess of bigger fish ranging from 13-22 inches and then a couple reds back in the ponds on spinners.
These are some pictures and a video one of the gars Shawn and I caught last Spring. We'll be getting on them very soon so more videos will be on their way.
Well for the third week in a row we've gone out and smashed some more huge sac a lait. Clean water was the trick againg today. Surprisingly we caught two of the biggest sac a lait this year today. With the spawn starting to slow down the fish size gets usually gets smaller this time of year.
Caught some of the biggest perch in forever today too and tons of them. Also hit some solid bass on.... Read More
Well, got back on em this weekend and hammered a bunch of Sac a Lait and then loaded up on some monster perch and a couple bass. This year has been fantastic for freshwater so far and especially the sac a lait. Boats all over the place and we still killed em.
Did some searching around for good water again and they were going crazy. Gum trees and cypress gave away most of the sac a lait. The.... Read More
Filled the box with a whole lot of sac a lait and a few perch and bass. Winds blowing 40+ and got rained on a good bit but the fish didn't care. Stanley wedgetails and a couple different flies did the trick. Caught two monster sac a lait on a UV matrix shad on a small spin blade. Try it next time your out there. You'll only catch a few but they'll be huge!
We'll be back at it this weekend.... Read More
Well the trout have been pretty inconsistent the last couple weeks so I've been going after some reds and bass with some Matrix Shads.
Last weekend took two people who don't get to fish much fishing out of Chef to find nothing but nasty dirty water so we ran to bievenue and found crystal clean water but not much trout so got them on a couple of them big nastys with some shrimp on the bottom.... Read More
I have an old 70s model evinrude 25 that has been great to me until last week. It used to always sneeze a little bit but last trip it started sneezing hard and then at one point it just killed so I restarted it and I would turn it up to full throttle and it would barely have idle speed. It was like its governed or something. I cleaned up carb pretty good and it's still doing the same thing. It.... Read More
Well finally got around to posting a report about a couple of the trips ive had in the past couple weeks. I wish I could post pics from my phone on here id have a lot more reports.
With all that dirty water the past couple weeks we decided to go after some reds in some terribly nasty cold weather. But the reds didnt care. Caught limits of reds three days straight and then finally found some.... Read More
1. I have an old 70s model 25hp evinrude that has been great to me but the last trip I noticed it was sneezing hard and it got to the point where it was at full throttle and it was barely idling. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a carb cleaning but I just wanted to make sure before I open it up and start working.
Finally got out after a long week of exams today and went bouncing some Matrix creoles today and caught this nice pig. Didnt have much, but that fish made it a good day.
I cannot even begin to explain how much I love the Matrix Shad. It not only has my three biggest fish this year, but a couple limits also. Its pretty much all I throw anymore.
Get out there with some Matrix Shads and you.... Read More
Got to take out some family in a beautiful 20ft Xpress last week and loaded it with specks. Then took the flat out and tried to sink it with specks over the weekend.
