Found a few nice Trout last week. Elmer’s Island Canal with plastics on 1/4oz jig heads did the trick. Reds and Flounders are around as well. It’s sooo close to being on.

Spent the past week scouting GI for Reds and Trout and found spotty action throughout the Isle. Tried Elmer’s Island for Trout and Reds and found very aggressive Sharks in the surf mainly on the East side. Waded out on the West side and found nice Reds in the cut. Water is still a little cold.
Elmer’s Canal has a few trout and loaded with rat Reds.

Yesterday had the chance to Blast N Cast with Barry D. of the Paw-Paw's Pirogue Family. Day started early down in Delacroix and I really missed “Pepper The Wonder Dog”. The retriever I had complained a lot and would talk back when sent after a duck. You’ve never herd so much whining about having to go get falling ducks. Fished Delacroix Saturday with Mark, A.K.A. JavaJoe. Had tried to hook up with him a couple of times last month, but he was too busy wearing out the trout and reds in Grand Isle. Enjoyed a nice sunrise and started fishing near some of our duck leases near Lake John. Managed to put just a couple of keepers on ice, with a few throw backs. No flounder this evening, but some really nice trout taken on Poppa Dog and Catch 2000.
JR- Now I’m using a Fuego 2500 for topwaters and a Revo SX-HS for the Catch 2000s.
Both are on custom built Matrix rods with Recoil guides. Both are very light with great feel.

Nice surprise during this evening’s trout fish. Head to the cut on Elmer’s for some evening topwater trout and manage to catch these nice flounders on Catch 2000. Trout was on a Poppa Dog.

Trout are starting to transition into the marsh and a few fish are being taken from the side of the roads. But the big trout are still in the surf at Elmer’s.

This evenings Elmer’s stringer. Tried a Rapala X-Rap Subwalker with great success. Fun lure to fish. Check out this beautiful sunset over Elmer’s Island.
