My good buddy Jimmy Jeansonne came in on leave from the Chevron rigs in Argentina to take his daughter, Jennifer, fishing with me yesterday(Sat). We launched on the East side out of Lloyd's and proceeded to ease our way thru the cut as the Ostrica Locks, after more than 5 years, are still not operational. Lowest water I have ever seen in my 28 years here!! The land was out of the water 6 to 8.... Read More
Trout can be caught one day and for the next 5 you cannot find one for some reason, but the reds are there all the time on either side of the river here in Buras! Had 4 trips out this week and all were medium successful with great customer fun! Ain't that what it's all about??
BTW:FYI: I am NOT participating in the Vessels of Oportunity everyday program with BP and am booking fishing.... Read More
Could some of you Baton Rougions please tell me where ya'll came up with that substitute team you let Les Miles coach last night. I have no recolection after watching all the other 5 games really closely, seeing ANY of the players that were there last night against Florida. I'm thinking that some of the NBC EVENT people have sent a team to Baton Rouge, and if that is so, can any of you tell me.... Read More
Quite a few of you readers who are committed customers of the JLT Lodge know just how committed I am to having the best in food here and know just how dedicated I am in the types of foods I personally choose to serve my 'special guests'. Downhome Sausage, although quite hard to find below the preverbial Cajun Line, is always somehow on my table due to what I think is the fact that it is the.... Read More
It's that time again, and I will be introducing my new lab, Dru to the Gold Point Plantation's annual Dove Hunt in Dixie, La. this weekend. Got a call from Col. Adger and he tells me the power lines are almost bowed to the ground and the planted sunflower/wheat/milo has been bushhogged and burnt. He estimates that there are between 6 and 10 thousand birds in the one main field alone!
8-26, 800hrs update on Capt. Brian's condition since getting blown up in his boat working for BP in the VOO program.
Son Patrick tells me that Brian is doing well and is responsive although he does have a 'pain button' on his IV there at West Jefferson hospital. They set his smashed ankle yesterday with pins and a plate and will begin facial reconstruction sometime today to repair 5.... Read More
Don't know how hot it got yesterday at your place, but at 2:30 Monday afternoon yesterday this is what my indoor/outdoor thermometer was showing with the out lead on my porch.
Would love to be reporting on how well the fishing is right now, but---------------
Here is a video of how Boots and Coots is going about killing this well with Class and precision.
This is a BP technical briefing on the progress of the relief well. You will see a guy named John Wright from Boots and Coots, He is in actual control of the well drilling, however there is a team of.... Read More
4 Weeks before the BP blowout Obama builds an alibi---“I am opening offshore drilling off of all the Coastal U.S.” Goldman Sachs dumps nearly all of its stock 40%+ in BP, a profitable winner. Days before they dump the rest.
BP ignores the advice of all the drilling contractors on making the well safe. British Petroleum had a manager directing drilling who had.... Read More
Impacts of
President Obama’s Order Halting Work on 33 Exploratory Wells
in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico
The Presidential Order does not affect the 4,515 shallow-water wells, and it does not affect 591 producing deepwater Gulf wells.
Roughly 33% of nation’s domestically produced oil comes from the Gulf of Mexico, and 10% of the nation’s.... Read More
Excuse me for breaking my silence on here but I must get this straight for you Obama fans---------
It doesn't matter how many letters, petitions or emergency notifications you send to Washington or Salazar--the overall plan is to shut down the rigs, which in turn shuts down the workers, which in turn allows up to and possibly over 80,000 workers to look to the Government for assistance.... Do you think all this time BP and others have used the utmost latest equipment to try to stop this oil leak??

Good customers from East Texas booked last year and have been steadily calling me to keep abreast of the closures leading up to their scheduled trip, but I kept assuring them to hurry on down. They did and were certainly not disapointed today as I set anchor at the first stop and my group of 3 caught their 15 reds and my 5 for dinner tonight-----turned around in the boat and caught their 75.... Pretty Boy, John Dean brought his son, John, and his grandson, Drake down to sample in person how well the new Chubs are performing and to load me back up with some needed replacements.
They also caught 68 trout and 3 reds while doing so!!
Have any of you wondered where the Hollywood celebrities that give of their talents and time to support Haiti and other desolate nations with disasters are. Aren't there a handful of them living right here in New Orleans? Where are the millions of dollars in aid pouring in from the Government for relief efforts? Are other nations that are so very poor they can't even control their own more.... Read More
Yes indeed, I truly hope you that voted in this president have figured out by now that most probably you made a huge mistake-------
As of yesterday, ALL offshore(deepwater) wells will cease drilling for at least 6 months. NOT new permits for new wells like you would think, but ALL wells drilling in over 500' of water must cease releasing back into this fabulous economy thousands of very hard.... Read More
Just a lowly Charter Captain’s take on the BP Oil Spill disaster---------
1) Serious mistakes were made to get into the situation – very serious and could have easily been prevented – this to be sorted out later
2) BP is doing everything they can to rectify the problem now that it has occurred – their company’s existence is definitely at stake here
3) This particular well is surely going to.... Read More
Had great friends Sam and Heff's playmate and Cover girl '93, Lou out with me today trying to catch a few trout for dinner. Had MoJo and his two kiddos trailing in the Tiger for the rest of the show!
Sam wasted no time in catching a really nice black and white seagull on an Orange Crush Bayou Chub thrown in an elevated looping motion into the serious school of feeding trout!
Lou did her best.... Read More
