I have the baitwell that has the "fill" and "aerate" options. When using the aerator for the baitwell it usually runs a few minutes then kicks off for a few minutes. Last trip out I noticed the aerator ran continuously. What exactly do I need to fix or replace? Any ideas?
Hoping all of you have a GREAT Labor Day weekend!!
Often an able bodied person takes for granted all of the things they are able to do without a second thought. If you were paralized from the chest down what do you think you would still be able to do?
I have a friend that recently had to put her long time buddy (dog) down due to pain from bad hips. She is paralized from the chest down and is of course wheelchair bound. Being stuck in a.... Read More
Saw a 4 wheeler seat that apparently flew off of someone's 4 wheeler. It is about a 1/4 mile north of the # 43 mile marker on Interstate 55 in the southbound lane. This is approximately halfway between the Amite and Independence exit. It is just off the road in the median. I was pulling a heavy load and traffic was bad or I would have picked it up. I know I would be upset if I lost mine and.... Read More
How is looking at the Point? We planned a trip 8 weeks ago, and everyone took off for vacation and now Fay had to come. We are all still making the trip, at least we can eat, drink and play some cards! Sure would love to get a few fish to fry up. We are staying at the State Park and we'll launch the boat when we can.
Went to Venice this weekend and got rained out there today for the fishing.... Read More
I am in search of a good underwater fishing light to use off the side of my boat. I have read up on some of them and since they are kinda expensive I don't want to buy a piece of junk. What are some good brands out there on the market? I have the small 1 foot models but think I need more length like a 3 or 4 footer and a carrying case. Can any of you share some advice on these types of.... Read More
Met a man this weekend that is making his own biodiesel. Not including his labor, he states it costs him 0.65 cents per gallon to make. He is running this 100% biodiesel in his 2007 Ford F-250 without any problems. First batch he made he had to change the fuel filters in his truck, but has since added one more filtration system to run the final product through before putting it into the.... Read More
Read a article of two teenagers missing in Lake Pontchartrain since Sunday, 3/9/08. News article was vague and states that the Coast Guard was still searching, but never was an area listed other than Lake P. CG reports the boat was found and had a hole or two in it. Have any of you got an update on this?
Launched out of the Rigolets before daylight Sunday. Wind howling out of the North. Water low everywhere, some stained, some muddy and finally found some clear with good current. Wind blowing one way, current going another and fish hooked up and pulling yet another direction. Our prayers to the "Fishing Gods" were heard and answered. Power pole motor in the shop and I sure missed.... Read More
I have been having a blast catching large black drum during their annual run lately. I noticed on the larger drum that it seems like their guts are coming out of them, is this normal? There is a lot of red tissue protruding from the anus. The limit only allows for one fish over 27 inches, so therefore we were releasing many of the drum. Many are hard to resuscitate and end up belly up in the.... Read More
Looking for "Pet Friendly" lodging in the next couple of weeks for the Venice/Empire/Buras area. Please post or email if you know of a place. I kennel/crate my dog indoors when I am out fishing. By using the kennel I can assure the lodge owner that my dog did no damage as well as I know my dog will not get away in my absence. I also take her for walks well away from the place and.... Going to a new place that I have never fished before, Cypremort Point @ Vermillion Bay. The trip is planned for mid-March. I have done some research on the area and am looking for some helpful pointers and tips that anyone will be willing to share. I called the State Park there and they stated that the pier was getting back into shape and that the park is essentially back in order. I'll be.... Read More
I am looking for ideas and advice on building a new fishing pond. I have a deep gully on the back of my property that I really think would make a great pond. Just my best "guesstimation" that this pond could fill an 8-10 acre area. I haven't had the grade shot on the area, but one end will be shallow and one end will be deep probably 12-15 feet.
