So the water is still up and muddy in the spillway at Sorrel and Pigeon. Where are good places to launch and fish off 190 between Krotz Springs and Port Barre this time of year?

I have not been to Bayou Corne since the week before the sinkhole appeared. Since August I have been fishing in Pigeon and Sorrel, but the water is coming up. I am planning on going down Saturday and launching at Sportsman’s Landing. Planning to fish canals beyond Bay Alcide which is heading away from the sinkhole.

I would like to find out more about fishing this area. I fish Sorrel and Pigeon, but when the water gets high, it is nice to have options outside the levee. I was fishing Corne regularly before the sink hole.

We fished the Shell Cuts out of Bayou Sorrel Saturday morning before the bad weather hit.

Fished the Spillway on Saturday morning. Waited out what I thought was the worst of the rain and launched at 8am. Got stormed on!! and worked the bilge pump hard for an hour.
Weather eventually turned nice. Caught a few huge sac on minnows. One nice blue cat on a cricket. Swithched to a tequila sunrise worm and started catching 13' bass.

From what I understand the new St Tammany Pier in Slidell opens today (Friday 5/18). I plan to take my 5 yr old over on Monday to see what we can catch.
If you go between now and then, let us know what you think. The article I read says it will have a bait stand, but I plan on taking dead shrimp just in case.

I had a 3 hour window between my son's baseball games....
I have never set out jug lines, but thought it might be fun. I will be fishing out of Bayou Corne. I plan to locate them off main canals near moving water.

I like the west bank side above the old bridge in Baton....
Anybody fish the Blind River from the St. James launch? Stopped this morning to have a look at the launch. Really nice, recently updated facility. It looks like a short run will take you to a few offshots. I saw it on a weekday morning. What is the boat traffic like on a Saturday? How is the fishing? Plenty of bank fishing...I did see a gator in the grass near the picnick tables.

I fished there a couple times from the bank caught some....
Plan to launch at Bayou Corne on Sunday. Will be taking my wife and two young kids for a day of bream fishing on crickets & worms.
I have fished this area several times recently with moderate success. Primarily in the first 3 fork canal after you hit Grand Bayou and in Texaco Canal. Basically shot around until I found the best water.

Crickets are your best bet although they will take jigs....
Where is the best place to launch/ fish on the North end of Verret? I have never fished Verret before and would be coming down through White Castle into Pierre Part.

Had a very nice boat ride this morning, but will not be having fresh fish tonight. What the heck, it was the only day I could go this week.
We were the only ones out there with fishing rods. Everyone else had guns. Cold front did us in. The water is pretty low. 2.3 at Sorrel Lock.
