My brother has been doing clean up duties at his boses camp on Grand Isle. The camp faired well, but the storage area underneth was a mess. He found an offshore tackle box full of baits and a gaff that did not belong to his boss. The tackle box was full of sand, but this weekend we cleaned the baits and box. Hunted Pointe Aux Chene WMA near the sulfer mine Thursday & Friday. Not many birds at all! Got 4 between two hunters on Thursday. 1 gray duck, two spoonies and a teal. Friday we got 2 between 3 hunters. 2 summer french. Hunted areas we had been seeing birds in. Due to the motor not running too good we didn't scout any new areas on Friday.

Hunted Pointe Aux Chene WMA this morning near the sulfer mine for the duck hunting opener. Wasn't expecting much. Was pleasantly surprised by the number of birds! Mostly summer french and grays. I was shocked at the lack of teal. In years past teal made up most of our bag on opening morning. Ended the morning with 7 summer french, 1 greenwing teal & 1 spoonbill. Is the east/west zone boundary still HWY 90? I was not able to find the map on the LDWLF website. If HWY 90 is still the boundary that means Pointe Aux Chene WMA opens Saturday right?

FRANK: Valentine is just south of Lockport. There is an old closed sugar mill there and a still operating paper mill. If you have ever been to Fourchon/Grand Isle it is on 308 maybe a couple of miles past Bollinger's Shipyard. I moved three houses north of Bollinger's when I was about 10.
