Joseph Pommier is starting the summer off with a BANG! He wrangled this bruiser Yellowfin May 18th. He was fishing with his dad and Family frreind Capt. Scott Leger. Scott has been guiding with Paradise Outfitters for over 15 years and really knows how to find those Giants! Joeseph is heading back down to Venice in June let's see if Scott ( capt. Sissy as joe calls him ) can top this 148 pound....
I am planning to go to the Chandeleur Islands in a couple of weeks. My boat draws 6 feet of water. I am coming from Lafitte. Is Bayou la Loutre a good route around the MRGO closure for me or should I take a different route ?
Would like to take my two sons on a charter out of fourshon or venice for a 8-10 hour trip for tuna or snapper ect. I would maybe like to join another group to lower cost. looking to spend no more than $1000. Any ideas?
I am 14 years old, lots of offshore fishing experience, I know fourchon like the back of my hand. I will tie leaders and rigs, clean boat, bait hooks, and do whatever captain wants me to do. Looking for $20 a trip
Well after a learning a lesson on the last trip, we managed to make up for it this time. Instead of beating the crowd out, a stop at the end of Northeast Pass and within 45 mins there were enough pogies for at least 2-3 hrs of tuna fishing. Its no secret now where the tuna are, we elected to go to 989 and hopefully escape the core of the early boat show. This was the case until about 11:00 which....
I heard that May is one of the best times to go catch mahi-mahi out of Venice. Supposedly the grass line is really close this time of year from what I've read. Does anyone know around how many miles out it is? Thanks.
My brothers and I are getting up in years and none of us have fished offshore for tuna. It's been on my bucket list for a while and my brothers want to tag along. For those of you experienced in this type of fishing, what is the best time of year/months to go and what outfitter(s) would you recommend I contact?
on Saturday April 23, 2016 at around 4:30 pm myself along with family and friends were fishing about 12 miles out of south pass when we herd a distress call from the charter vessel Strike Zone. They were taking on water and needed help. let me first say that we are fairly new in the world of offshore fishing but new he was coming in so clearly that he had to be close. next we heard the supply....

New to Louisiana. Huge into fishing. Looking for experienced fishermen around South Central Louisiana who want to make a new friend and have trip expenses shared. I am very handy on a boat, willing to pay for fuel, food and bait and clean the boat after and help fillet fish. I am a business professional and 41.
I am from the West Coast. I have caught large fish in California, Alaska, Hawaii....
Lately anyone who has been offshore fishing out of Venice la knows for sure, that it has been phenomenal!! With most charter captains wacking double digit yellowfins before lunch even starts. Finally after nearly a 7 month hiatus from the gulf waters Striker Tackle was able to make a trip in the 29' SeaVee. We spent the better part of the day chasing tuna, unfortunately with the wrong bait, we should have spent more time gathering up live pogies instead of trying to beat the crowd to Elf. Once guides showed up they put a quick hurting on the tuna with live pogies freelined and they....
I was really hoping this spring would follow the winter bite, which was (IS) absolutely epic! This lump season that just passed was the best in many years! (And it's still kind of going on!!) Recently the temperature outside has been better than Good. On the past few trips, going inshore/offshore fishing the fish have been.....
Can I get some help finding up to date coordinates for floaters in the Gulf? Nothing worse than running for a couple of hours only to find the rig you are looking for is gone. I found a PDF online put out by the Department of the Interior Mineral Management Service and their coordinates were way off. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
