My brothers and I are getting up in years and none of us have fished offshore for tuna. It's been on my bucket list for a while and my brothers want to tag along. For those of you experienced in this type of fishing, what is the best time of year/months to go and what outfitter(s) would you recommend I contact?

They were taking on water and needed help. let me first say that we are fairly new in the world of offshore fishing but new he was coming in so clearly that he had to be close. next we heard the supply....  Read More

We have four guys in Venice looking to go fishing Friday, 4/29.

Our boat and trailer had mechanical issues on the way down from Michigan. They won't be there until Saturday. So, we can only afford to cover expenses.

New to Louisiana. Huge into fishing. Looking for experienced fishermen around South Central Louisiana who want to make a new friend and have trip expenses shared. I am very handy on a boat, willing to pay for fuel, food and bait and clean the boat after and help fillet fish. I am a business professional and 41.
I am from the West Coast. I have caught large fish in California, Alaska, Hawaii....  Read More

Finally after nearly a 7 month hiatus from the gulf waters Striker Tackle was able to make a trip in the 29' SeaVee. We spent the better part of the day chasing tuna, unfortunately with the wrong bait, we should have spent more time gathering up live pogies instead of trying to beat the crowd to Elf. Once guides showed up they put a quick hurting on the tuna with live pogies freelined and they....  Read More

I was really hoping this spring would follow the winter bite, which was (IS) absolutely epic! This lump season that just passed was the best in many years! (And it's still kind of going on!!) Recently the temperature outside has been better than Good. On the past few trips, going inshore/offshore fishing the fish have been.....

let's just say more then....  Read More

Can I get some help finding up to date coordinates for floaters in the Gulf? Nothing worse than running for a couple of hours only to find the rig you are looking for is gone. I found a PDF online put out by the Department of the Interior Mineral Management Service and their coordinates were way off. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

The leftwing anti-fishing Pew Charitable Trusts is at again, trying to Astroturf their anti-recreational fishing propaganda in order to deceive the public into thinking their latest anti-fishing scam is a real grassroots issue. It looks like Pew bribed corrupt York University scienticians over in the UK to produce....  Read More

Capt. Jack Marino just gave me my best fishing trip ever. I have fished with many guides but he is the best. He is polite and puts you on fish. I will return.

Looking for some advice on closest places to shore to catch snapper/amberjack.

I have looked at the rigs off SW Pass, but was wondering if there are similar/suitable rigs out of Tiger Pass (or anywhere else) that might be less of a run. Ideally I would like to stay within 5-10 miles of shore while I am learning more about the Gulf. Is this a decent range to be catching fish?

Went snapper fishing March 5 & 6 out of Port Fourchon. Caught our limit of red snapper and a few mangroves.

I am new to offshore fishing. While we were out we caught some type of grouper. What kind of grouper is this?

Well where do I start? If you're reading this you've probably been keeping up with what’s going on in Venice, Louisiana, and you know the fishing has been “off the hook” if you will this late winter coming into early spring. It is mind blowing to think there has literally been hundreds of yellowfin tuna over 120 lbs hit the dock between cypress cove and Venice marina in the last seven....  Read More

I'm trying to plan a bachelor trip to either Venice or Grand Isle in July. Want to make a trip to the rigs to catch snapper, cobia, or whatever is biting (not wanting to go way offshore for tuna). I have 7 guys total (which seems to be a problem since most boats take max of 6) and I need it to cost max of 250 per person (so about 1750 for the group). I know most offshore trips are more....  Read More

Looking for suggestions on a tuna trip charter out of Fourchon or GI in a couple weeks. Two of my crew are tuna/offshore virgins, so I'm looking for someone that's patient. Thanks in advance.
