I have an Ascend FS12T (old style) that I'd like to put a rudder on. I would prefer it to have foot controlled steering. Has onyone accomplished this? Pictures would be awesome.

My main stumbling points are mounting adjustable foot contolls as my wife and I are of much different heights, and mounting the rudder onto that oddly shaped rear end.

I'm looking to make a trip out on Saturday if the bad weather stays away. Any advice on where I should head out this time of year for reds? I'm willing to drive 2 hours from New Orleans. I was thinking LA 1, PAC, or Delacroix. I have not fished any of those area before, so some place that isn't to difficult to navigate would be good too. Thanks for any advice.

Got a day off and headed to PAC on Monday. Caught a few trout early but nothing worth braggin about. All under 12.' Guess they are moving to the beaches. Paddled into the marsh around 8:30 and found the reds ready. Had a limit of 5 by 9:30 and released 3 more 27'+ bruisers. Gold Spoon caught all fish up against the grass on a rising tide.

State Representative Stephen Ortego is set to introduce a bill which will allow kayaks and canoes to use Rockefeller Refuge. I was complaining to him two weeks ago about the fact that everywhere in LA has gators, so why would LDWF make any effort to ban small vessels in any particular area? Well, he took it to heart and will be introducing a bill. However, he is looking for some local Kayak.... Read More

Hi there,

My buddy and I have become addicted to finding reds and trout with flyrods from kayaks. We live in New Orleans and so far we've fished Myrtle Grove and Reggio hoping to find great fishing close to the launch. Thankfully we're young enough (28) to be able to paddle quite far but it still seems like we have to paddle at least a mile or so to get to fishing spots from the.... Read More

I'm a newbie to kayak fishing. I'm looking for some tips on places to go around the Lafayette area. I'm mostly a freshwater fisherman. I've been to Lake Martin a few times, but that place is always crowded.

I'd like to know of some other kayak friendly places to go. I'm familiar with the Henderson area. I know people go out to Fausse Pointe in the small.... Read More

Thinking of heading to Cocodrie the weekend of March 15. Anybody got any tips or advice? It'll be my second kayaking trip inshore, as I'm from North La. I hate to miss a weekend of spawning bass up here, but can't stop thinking about catching a redfish from a kayak. I went this past weekend out of Cypremort in Vermillion Bay and didn't get a bite. Didn't know about the Atchafalaya being too.... Read More
