Been horrible on Big Lake this week. Noone has been catching anything including couple my buddies that guide. I dont know what changed the lake.Cold front might have messed this up. Reports are millions of glass miniows on the lake so fish are not needing to eat lures.They are fat and full. O well looks like Ill go to Dulac this week. Road trip!

Made a trip yesterday afternoon with Ken looking for fish and getting some R&R from work. Found the water to be horrible in Turners but did find a couple of small sets of birds working in Turners and just south of Turners. I've got a 2000 Yamaha 75 that runs perfectly until the water gets rough.....Then it starts bogging down considerably. Get back into the smooth, it runs great. Looked for loose grounds, connectors and etc. Nothing jumps out. Any ideas ?

it is probably water in your fuel tank--it gets sloshed....

Couldn’t think of a better way to spend my birthday then on the water with a couple of fishing buddy’s. Hit the lake this morning with Ray and Jchief and found the trout along with some reds and flounder just outside of Turners and found some more around the Pelican Point area also. Made a quick trip with Ken this morning out to BL and found some trout on all the stops we made. We each started with a different color Vudu Shrimp and rigged different ways (with and without a cork) and found fish both ways. We moved to another spot and changed colors and found fish. Caught about 20 to 25 trout and all were tagged and released to fight another day. Don’t have an accurate count.... Read More

Decided to make a trip to Big Lake late this morning because I did’t feel like being in the house and it was a awesome looking day outside. Made a trip out to the water today with my buddy Ken and we went looking for red fish and we found them. We fished from Moss Lake to Joe’s Cove. We fished some of the coves off of the ship channel and we also fished in Big Lake by Turners, Texaco cut and in the middle of the lake. Wanted to take a couple of minutes to talk about the Wedgetail mullet made by Egret baits. I have used the 3.5 inch and the 5 inch with great success. The 3.5 inch has a good tight rapid vibration from the tail on the retrieve and has equally good action on the fall. It has been producing good quality fish over the last couple of months. Flounder caught on plastic and nice blue crabs and asking for info on anybody that has mud boats Im looking for one gatortail or prodrive boats so like some info on which one is the best I do alot of inshore and freshwater fishin an hunting and crawfish an crabing need something TUFF an will last so you guys that have info let me Know! Had a good day 12-31-12 with a good friend of mine. Boated our 30 specks and 4 reds to boot. Tried some new baits by egretbaits.com named the VUDU shrimp. These shrimp are awesome looking, feeling and apparently tasting. One shrimp caught over 40 specks and still hasnt torn. Wanna know why ?? Anyone know how far the oil rigs are off of the Cameron Jetties and in which general direction are the reefs within big lake? Myself and a few fellow Soldiers from Fort Polk are headed down this weekend to do a little fishing. We normally fish the jetties or the holly beach area but are pretty unfamiliar with the big lake and any help will do, thanks!

Very few reports from the Southwest side of the state so we thought we should note that there are some nice fish being caught there. This big drum was found in a canal off of the Intracoastal west of Lake Charles... We also caught reds & trout in this one particular spot.
