Still learning alot about deer and I was looking for some advice. Started hunting a lease near Caddo Lake last year and had several pictures of big bucks, but they were all at night except between 5-7 Dec. Numerous daytime pictures of the big guys as they were chasing does in full rut.
Last year Louisiana Sportsman predicted the first rut for Area 2 to be around Thanksgiving and the.... Read More

Shot this 'bad boy' West of Caddo Lake on 12/7/11. Might not be the biggest in the world, but it was definitely my biggest. 155 lbs., 18' spread. Will score it after it's mounted, but appears to be about a 130.
Hello all! I'm new to this website, so I thought I'd start out by posting a pic of my first kill this season. Got this 8pt on 11/3 at 8:00am in DeSoto Parish. He was chasing a doe. I haven't scored him, but he had a 17 3/4' spread. Hopefully I'll have some new deer pics soon!
I've got a some Chase Rewards points to spend, and i'm looking at one of these cameras. Are either of these any good or should i just hold on to my points for something else?
I just started hunting some property on the north side (just south of oil city) of caddo lake and just wanted to see if I could get some feedback about when the rut starts. I have not seen a scrape yet and usually a scrape is not hard to find. Im just curious to see if anyone can help me out and share a little knowledge about the rut in that area. Thanks

I am posting this for all you North Louisiana folk who like great food at times.
Last evening, I again went(on invitation) to Boomtown's 1800 degree restaruant to sample their new chef's recipes.

There were so many birds at Gold Point plantation in Dixie this year that Mr. Adger and Mr. Hoogland decided to not allow any of the 80 hunters on the fields until 1:30 and they all had to leave the fields by 4:00.

Father-in-law killed a 10pt tonight right at dark. 225lbs, 20 in spread. Killed with a 30-06 with 150 grain core-lock bullet. Deer dropped in his tracks. Deer was killed in the Oil City area (no high fences there). Wish I had photos to post. I have not seen it yet (I'm in Kansas) but I do know that he is not going to mount it. Will post a pic of the antlers as soon as I get it.
The weed has been found in Jeemes Bayou area. Anyone fishing the lake take care to clean your boat and trailer very good before launching anywhere else. If you spot the plant in any other areas of the lake please notify WLF in Minden. We are starting a volenteer program to help the Bioligist fight the problem. Please help keep from spreading this to other lakes, Check your boat and trailer.... Read More
I have a Moultrie digital camera that is activated by infrared. Took some great pics last fall and winter. Since mid-June, I'm getting almost nothing. I know it works, because it takes my pic when I change batteries (almost always early morning). The camera is in the sun. I'm thinking the heat trapped in that case renders it inoperable, except maybe in the early morning. Any similar.... Read More
