A beautiful morning in the marsh ! Plenty droves of bluewing teal this AM and all the reds we wanted. Didn't leave the camp until 7:45 andback for 10:45 with 15 nice reds. White spinnerbaits and LSU chubs worked best in the duckponds. Greg Givens joined Deadeye Chris and I with a good time enjoyed by all. Great weather for the Labor Day weekend. Good luck fishing.

Enjoyed a great 4 day weekend at the camp with family & friends. We fished the previous 3 days and today was no exception. The reds were eating up in the ponds this AM as I was joined by my son Chris and his friend Richard. We left the camp at 7:30 and back for 10:45. My dove hunting plans on Saturday did not materialize so there was nothing to do but go fishing. Not a bad move as we caught 100 trout and left them biting. Mostly 12-14in. fish but I'll take it for trout in Sept. Bayou chubs in various colors including all 3 of the brand new colors along with the LSU worked very well. Fished with Capt. Tommy Pelligrin last Friday and all I can say is it was a blast. Hit a few rigs and reefs bustin up the mangroves,reds,beeline and every other kind of snapper they have, along with an aj. almaco jack, porgie and Im sure I forgot to name a few.

Planned a trip to Vermilion bay on Saturday. Weather man called for wind but no rain till the afternoon. 3 miles from the ramp I shredded 1 of my rear tires, limped to the ramp. Water was very high with the water flooding into the parking lot at the ramp. I should learn my lesson when they call for 13-15 mph winds. I caught this 14 pound bass in Chicot Lake in March 1997. Once we drove to Ville Platte and back to Chicot for the official weighing and recording for the bass, it was recorded as 13.63 pounds and was indeed the lake record. I hunt in the Atchafalaya spillway and we have a lot of bottom land. The guy that has the lease says that he only wants factory tires on our bikes because mud grips tear up the land. Last year with factory tires, we couldn't get to the back of the lease due to all the water and mud, so I think you need more than factory tires. I have an La Traveler that has set up for 2 yrs with a full tank of gas. What is the best way to dispose of it? In the past, I have mixed fresh gas with some old and gone with it. Thoughts on mixing in some Stabil water remover, pumping out half that gas and refilling with fresh ETHANOL FREE gas???

What a incredible day smashing the redfish. Had six boats running today with a big group from DOW Chemical. One stop shop as we boated forty redfish today (keeping our 25 fish limit) and many black drum. Over 600 pounds of fish between all the boats were brought to the cleaning table. Over 100 reds, 25 puppy drum, and a few flounder were caught. Everyone had a incredible day on the water.... Read More

I took my brother to Henderson Saturday and we located the bass early. They hit anything we threw. white or chatreuse spinner, worm, fluke, ribbit, rattle trap or crank baits. They were everywhere. Once again Cuda Scheer has done a great job of taking out a group of fisherman and limited out before lunch. We had a 5 man limit of redfish, 10 drum, 1 flounder, and 6 trout.

So glad to get out on the water Friday before the monsoons arrived Saturday. Fishing with me was Pat Giroir. We ran out of Cannons in bayou black to do some bass fishing on the way out. We managed about 10 bass fishing any cuts with moving water with a bandit crankbait and spinnerbaits. There was not much tide movement in the marsh. A fun trip to Cypremort Point turned ugly when the blistering rain limited vision. Got a little off track and caught the rock jetty at hi tide. Bad news-punched a hole in one lower unit and cracked the other. Good news is-everyone got back safe/sound. Been wanting to repower with a single for a while.
