A few days ago I was motoring across Breton Sound and came across a horrible sight... Thousands of big mature redfish flying dead on the surface. They went on for miles and miles. I know anyone out there recently can confirm this. I took pictures and video. The fish were stacked up in a rip line with 'pogie foam'. My buddy Jay and I headed out of Breton Sound Marina around 5 AM Wednesday morning looking forward to a trout slam on the rocks. We were headed out via the Spoil Canal when the motor died. We could not get it going. Thank God for our SEA Tow membership! Hot Rod of Sea tow was on his way from Slidell and we bided our time fishing on the bottom for monster gaff tops. I was fishing with clients on Saturday when the inevitable happened. I was barely idling in the MRGO making an adjustment for my clients, when Bam! I hit a pipe and stalled out my motor. I didn’t hit it hard and thought I’d be okay, but when I put the boat back in gear, it was obvious I tore up my lower unit. Launched out of Hopedale Sunday with my sister Kelly. Late night graduation activities, no sunrise start. The SE winds were 10-15 mph, a tad bit high, so we skipped the original destinations (Two Trees, Machias, etc), and went Plan B, the lagoons off Loutre.

Michael and his guests had a great time putting 66 trout in the box using Campo's live shrimp 3 ft. under a cork, especially the 2 12 yr. olds, nice group. Another great day in the Blazer Bay. Berkley rods and Penn reels did them in.

Day 2 for Harry and his two guests and it was almost a rerun of yesterday as the guys ended up with 70 trout using Berkley rods and Penn reels with Campo's live shrimp under a cork. Great day in the Blazer Bay till the next one.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of fishing with Tim Carlisle and his friend Al Russo. The fishing was great as long as we worked for it. We caught fish at every stop until we made the day. We ended the day with 50 trout and 4 reds. It was Al’s first time fishing in Louisiana and he’ll be back!

Had a great couple of guys fishing with me yesterday. Stan and Chad are long time friends and fishing buddies and were in for a treat out there Thursday. We had almost perfect conditions with calm seas, and nice strong incoming tide. Water was a little dirty but the fish did not seem to mind. Had a great day of fishing yesterday wtih a Father-Daughter team. Jennette is from New Orleans and Her father came down from Shreveport to do a little fishing.
