I hunt the marshes for duck season and I fish the Atchafalaya Basin year round, and I want to start duck hunting the basin as well. Can anyone share a little advice on how to scout the basin timber areas for ducks. Any info is greatly appreciated.
We get there at 3 am and stay til 10. We only got 4 woodies right at first light, I don't know where the ducks were but hopefully on black lake close to home we will have better luck. Anyone having any luck??
This season has started off really good for us. Opening day last weekend we hit a spot where the Mallards wanted to be and finished with 11. I can't recall killing so Many Mallards in the marsh on opener. That really was a special hunt.
This past Friday I got an invite to Port Acres, TX for a marsh hunt and from the moment we started pushpoling the marsh you could hear the....
We had another great hunt in Delacroix. Regulars Paul Wood and his son Mike shot straight today killing our limit of 18 today with a mixed bag of mostly Greys and teal. We are using about 4 dozen decoys and calling hard when needed to get the ducks turning toward our spread. It was a great time sharing a blind with old friends doing what we love. Fanny's Family Guide Service still has some....
This morning started slow East wind with clouds . Our large spread should not reflect the sun today . At about 7:30 the geese started moving around and into our spread . We were able to get them fairly close today . We ended the hunt at around 8:30 with 14 specks our limit . The shooting was very good , with close birds .
This hunt started very slow , east wind and clear . Starting at about 8:30 am we had lots of Geese moving about and into the spread at a low decent . But the sun shining on the large decoy spread and the Geese coming from the west , it seemed like at the last minute they would see our spread shining and flare off .... We ended up with 8 specks and 1 snow . Not bad for bad conditions .
We have been steadily having a
fantastic start of the duck season
down here in Delacroix. The numbers
of ducks we have been seeing everyday
is absolutely phenomenal. The last 2
days with a lack of any wind at all
in the morning, all the ducks have
been sitting on the open water grass
flats by the thousands! This morning
I had 2 boats out with one shooting....
I am new to WMA hunting ducks and I was wanting some help before I set out and possibly waste my time or do something illegal. Joyce would be my preferred choice only because its around 20 min from my house. Just some do's and dont's would be more than helpful! I have a 14ft flat with a 25 outboard as well. Thanks!
Hey guys I haven't been able to get out on catahoula since the rain Sunday and the front has come through. Just wonder what the water level is like and if it's pushed more birds in etc. I was out last week and saw a good many thanks.
Due to a cancellation, we have an opening for the weekend. Will discount it to 200 per gun since it is last minute notice. 3 man minimum. Call 337-304-9230 to book. Don't miss out on some great hunting tomorrow, the weather is shaping up to be some good killing weather
