First let's talk about data. What has data given us? It's 'data' that has totally screwed up the gulf red snapper season. Data is not perfect. What counts is what is being seen by living, breathing people. Compare data to what is really happening in the field, then, make decisions.
All the talk about seeing more ducks in Feb. because of less.... Read More
With all the griping and complaining, one could only assume that their will be a lot of leases coming available for this upcoming season. With that said, I've been trying to acquire another lease in Terrebonne parish, but haven't had much luck. I love my current lease, but would like to get something else in the brackish water. A gray duck or two would be nice every once in a while! So guys,.... Read More
I just read a great article written by Todd Masson in a recent Times Picayune concerning the past poor season despite great local conditions. The article included ideas about why it was poor especially in the SE part of the state. Included in this article was information from Larry Reynolds about the past season. Also he sheds a light on the future of duck hunting in the whole state of.... Read More
The Gadwall Duck is an attractive and welcome duck for waterfowl hunters.
Additionally, someone informed me there is a DU Duck Calendar for SW Louisiana Region. I am considering donating some waterfowl images for this project but have no idea of who to speak with / contact. Any ideas?
iv been reading the posts about duck hunting and of du and ldwf wonderful work.i my self ret out the U.S.M.C .I myself wonder who compiles the data of the number of ducks taken and what state.perhaps some one can provide that to the rest of us so that we may judge as to believe in the facts or what we see.also I hold to the words of a wise man.if you hear im work for the government and in hear.... Mr. Reynolds, From the post by bloodandguts we all seem to recognize a problem. This is the best conversation I’ve read on this website since the debate started. Could you convince the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries to conduct a study basing it on the three zones breaking down the biggest issues in each? I believe we have some of the same problems in the three zones but also some different.... Read More
'Oil behemoths BP and Chevron dumped toxic waste - including some radioactive material - from their drilling operations into coastal waters, claims Louisiana parish Plaquemines in a lawsuit removed to federal court Thursday.'
You can google this. It's all over the Web. My guess is Gadwall and teal stay away from radioactive waste.
I'm selling my 2009 23horse power Go Devil engine to up grade to a bigger engine. The asking price is 2,200. All the upkeep on the motor has been done by Go Devil. After this years Teal season I had a new shaft, new bearings, and new bushings put on. If you are interested you can contact Capt. Jimmy Corley by phone at (504)258-4431, also by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
I would not support this in any fashion! DU has done so much for the ducks and there rich partners to have the finest habitat and hunting around that the common man ( who makes up most of there membership) has got less and less area to hunt. Go to Paducah Ky and other places like this where top executives and area presidents of DU are catered to. Take a look at the DU projects that have caused.... Read More
I made a call to a friend of mine on Friday to see about bringing my son to shoot some specks on the weekend. Well he made it happen on the last morning of the season, it wasn't the best of conditions with the fog and rain but we had to take with mother nature gave us and be happy. We ended up telling many stories and sharing memorable hunts. I told them one particular story about me killing a.... Read More
As many of you know, there has been some controversy over the timing of the Youth Waterfowl Hunt days the past few years. As a result, and a convincing argument that many clubs would provide opportunity after the season that they could not provide before because of available water and ducks, the Youth Waterfowl Hunt days were split in the East and West Zones.
