Big buck down I had a little history with this buck we called turkeyfoot. He got his name due to the palmetto of his G2,G3 and G4 on his left side looking like a turkey foot. I shot him last year my arrow was deflected by a small limb hitting him in his hip. Fast forward one year later back in Illinois same farm, same ridge, same stand on the first evening I see him tending a doe, grunting like....
We got our first hunt of the season on film and my 10 yr old son finished the deal with a nice shot. A little disappointed we shot a button buck, but still overall a great hunt and he was super excited. Made for some great jerky and nice grilled tenderloins.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a 'bush-hog' that can be pulled behind a 4 wheeler? I've seen a few but they look more like glorified lawn mowers than bush-hogs. Are some of them able to cut small trees/saplings?
This year was another banner year for us Louisiana guys hunting the grain fields of Nebraska on the White River. 4 Of us went up early to scout around and turkey hunt and all 4 of us tagged out on turkeys before the season opened. We were join by the rest of our group and in 4 days of deer hunting we took 24 deer. We had some of the most brutal weather I had ever seen sense I have been hunting....
The rut got him on November 15th at 10am. He chased two does out and walked out behind them. We have two years of trail cam pics and videos of him. My best ever. 18.5' inside and 170lbs. Best part about it is my son and I were in the stand together again. He got his first deer two weeks ago. Great season so far.
Does anybody know if they have the bridge on the North Tract of Richard K Yancey WMA fixed yet. Last year it was out (ATV only) so the other side of the WMA was hard to access from the North Camp Ground (Vidalia side). Thanks for any help.
first buck with first shot ever fired from a rifle
My name is Lana Giddings and this is the first deer I have ever killed with the first shot I have ever fired from a rifle. Just began hunting this year and actually thought I'd missed but a great friend and my sister went back Monday morning while I was at work and found him! I shot him late Sunday evening while hunting with my husband....
All i hear is to hunt bedding areas and trails leading from them. It seems simple enough if you hunt in the north but not so much down here. I hunt a section of swamp land with 2 ridges in it. How am i supposed to find trails or bedding areas in nothing but water and palmettos? I have a food plot which i know where they come in and leave at but once they hit the swamp no more trail. I have rub....
My 12-year-old son was able to take two deer this weekend in MS. He started out Saturday morning missing a nice 6-point, but that afternoon he redeemed himself with a spike that walked out about 30 yards and downed it in its tracks. On Sunday morning, he wanted to go back to the same stand where the 6-point came out, (he said he wanted to see if it would show its face again), but instead of that....
Late 10 minutes of the last day to hunt. He came tracking a Big Doe. All happened in less than two
minutes. Next thing I knew he was less than 20 yd.
for my tree. 285 lbs, scored 166-1/2, 12 pt. white-tail
Been hunting red river parish for the past 5 years. I've been fortunate enough to take a buck every year. Some smaller than others, but at least an 8 point. Nov. 14 I've taken my best buck ever. Thanks to my father in law for the camp site and getting me on the deer lease, this buck came out chasing a doe and gave me the perfect broad side shot at 70 yards.
Ok. I have a question. My wife and I are in a hunting club close to Caney Lake on the jackson parish/winn parish line. Our stands are roughly 800 yards apart. maybe just a little further. Her stand has 2-200 yard planted lanes. and she also has a 150 yard lane that we have a feeder on. This is all in a pine planttion with a cutover on one side and woods on the other. We had all kinds of....
I live in Shreveport and I have been trying to find a lease or hunting club that needs an extra member. I am very particular what I harvest. I only shoot barren for and mature buck. I do not believe in dog hunting either. If anyone knows of a lease or club please email me at Ridingonlife@yahoo.com
What am I to do when I come across poachers in Kisatchie National Forest? I've tried informing wildlife & Fisheries, Winn Parish Forest Rangers and the Winn Parish Sheriff's Department. The poachers I've been coming across are poaching right out in the open. And claiming their best bow season takes place in AUGUST! My family camps in the forest while hunting and observe truck after truck....
