You can see this bobcat leaving its scent then couple hours later this deer comes by. Even tho she was very wary, didnt stop her from feeding. Too many bears for their habitat. With no pecans and few acorns this year they arte starving.
A fella brought that BIG rack killed at Giles Island this year by Louisiana Outdoors to show us. I admit, the picture is a good one, but this thing is one MEAN looking rack! Just holding it was nice! He said they'd have it at the Sportsman's show this weekend. www.louisiana-outdoors.com
I had a question for some of you who have had experience with supplemental feeding in the past. I'm going to begin a supplemental feeding program on the land I hunt here in North Central Louisiana but wanted to ask around to see what might be the best feed to use.
Right now I've narrowed it down to three: Purina's AntlerMax Deer Chow, Record Rack Golden Deer Nuggets or Delta Whitetails.... Read More
This past week i planned to enjoy a week of fun running deer dogs in Kisatchie with some good ole boys listening to the hounds burn up a buck trail. we had some good races but came up empty on killing end. we saw several does but it is bucks only so the respectable hunters of the law we let em go. Appearently though thats not what the forest rangers considered us. we were constantly.... Read More
It looks like Mississippi is going to eliminate all primitive rifles and allow you to use modern rifles all season long. I'm really saddened by this as I use to look forward to real muzzleloader season every year. Since the introduction of single shot rifle season the deer on most average clubs have taken a serious hit. Now let them use the good old 300 magnums everyday to finish decimating.... Read More

Here is a neat video I took while making a late season hunt on my Buddies ranch in south Texas Zavala County . He wanted to have a few more Does and Spikes removed from his heard based on their heard count/survey and subscribed by their wildlife biologist. I was happy to assist and always love hunting that south Texas brush country. The neatest thing was I witness was on our last afternoon we.... Read More
There are significant deer-hunting season changes being proposed today during the Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries Commission meeting. It will take some time to put together the story with all the details, but there are new hunting zones and a move back to designated either-sex days in some areas of the state.
So stay tuned, and be watching for the story on the front page.
Last afternoon of hunting, gonna skip a couple classes in Baton Rouge to make it back home with more than enough time to be up and settled in my stand. Wind should be just right for my setup (I had to adjust my position and direction last weekend). Last weekend saw a few does, spooked some sweet strolling around noon, and missed a 4 point when my arrow snapped in half after clipping a branch..... Read More
I hunt on a large lease in the Washington Parish area that is now located in the new proposed area 4. We have been a six point or better deer club for the past several years now and allowed to kill 3 bucks un-limited club wide and only 2 doe up to 75 per season club wide. Most of the members will not shoot a doe and almost look down on the members that do kill one and i have never seen over.... Read More

They tell you that everything will be done through an escrow company, etc., etc. This is a.... Read More

Thirteen-year-old Reilly Helm of Baton Rouge killed this buck weighing 176 pounds on her grandfather’s property located near St. Francisville, Louisiana. Reilly has killed her fair share of deer starting at age eight but decided at the beginning of the 2011 season she would “hold out” for a wall hanger. She learned the valuable lesson of patience as she went many hunts not seeing deer or passing.... Read More
