i am an avid inshore fisherman but recently bought an 18' hydrasport deep v with a 135 merc on the back. (quite an upgrade from my 25 hp merc!)i am looking for any close rigs where i may go to catch some mangrove and red snapper.... any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED, tight lines......

I have a bay boat and looking to go fish some rigs out of Fourchon. Just wanted to know about how far out you have to go to get about 60 feet of water?

After a late start we limited out on red snapper and caught several nice mangrove snapper, including this 13.39lb monster. Not to bad for my first ever snapper trip. Good times with good friends. Thanks Trey, Jayme, Charles, and Savanha

We have been doing really well with the red snapper, mangrove snapper, cobia and grouper. We have also been catching some nice tuna along with wahoo and mahi mahi when the conditions are right. Well the weather looked like it was going to cooperate Wednesday, so I decided to take a day off work to search for the endangered red snapper. They are so scarce it took almost 20 whole minutes to catch our 8 fish. Could have made it back to work for lunch, but decided to try for some mangroves instead. Anyone can tell me how long it takes to get certified to dive with tanks around the rigs I been free diving with my friends and shot mangroves but wana shoot grouper and ajs how much does it cost for all the equipment and to get certified and how dangerous is it do you need someone to dive with you? How deep can u go and how do you get air bubbles in ur head from diving with a tank and how deep.... Read More

Had Todd Dempsey and gang on the Deja Vu this past Saturday for Josh and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Left out early and made a direct line for the snapper hole. I fished the 3rd and 4th with the same crew. Fished hard in the morning for bait then landed a nice haul of snapper then took off for the tuna. Hit a few rigs on the way to where I knew they would be just in case I miss something the day before. No encouraging signs so we continued to move on. I figured it to be a late bite anyway. Nobody reports out of the Pecan Island area. Went out this past Saturday out of FWC and was met with calm seas. Headed S-SW. Water blue at 50 miles. Stopped at rigs in vermillion block in 140 ft of water. In short order, picked up two ling, largest 45#, and a 3 man limit of beautiful red snapper (10-17#). The snapper would hit anything. Friday took off with a group of local guys to chase the yellowfin tuna. Blasted off from marina with the fountain early since the moon was making fish stop biting early. Yesterday was Bill Ward from east Texas with his grandsons. I went to a new spot for the snappers looking around a bit and found some really nice ones. Largest for the day was right on 25 pounds with most others in the 17 pound range. The one that I thought was small was 12 pounds. We looked for cobia but the jack cravelle and bonita were so thick we had a hard time getting the cobia on the line.... Read More
