Can anyone give me some insight on what time of year are you subject to find tuna the closest to shore? Would like to target some with 2 24 foot bay boats. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Offshore Fishing in Venice in Southeast Louisiana
Hello guys, I am going to be coming down for a vacation from June 8th until I head home the following Sunday. I will be by myself. I was wanting to go on a tuna trip. As I said , it's just me. Does anyone know of someone that can find a spot for me on one of those days ? Or am I S.O.L.? I have talked to a couple captains and they don't put singles in with the groups. I have a big pontoon, but....  Read More

Well its that time of year again and like clockwork, the Tuna and Wahoo bite has turned on.

We drove down to Miami to pick up the Triple Threat the first week of February and had her back in time to fish our first trips of the year, Feb 7 and 8th.... Both days were solid fishing. Wahoo, blackfin tuna, yellowfin tuna......Full box of fish both days. Capt Mitch also had good trips on the....  Read More

  • Capt. Peace brings the first yellow of the day to the gaff.
  • Russ Pylant shows off one of the bigger yellows for the day. Caught on a Bonita chunk.
  • Group shot of some of the fish from the trip. That's a bunch of steaks.
We fished offshore on Sunday with the legendary Captain Peace Marvel.

The trip started with Peace's ritual prayer asking God 'to please forgive these guys for the slaughter they are about to commit.' And we did.

We started the day chumming in the wheel wash of a working shrimp boat and after a few nice fish, we then moved on to chunking over a sea mount.

The action was....  Read More

By now most everyone's hunting season is over and its time to think about fishing... The same goes for me and Capt Paully.
This is season 13 for Tuna Time Charters and we are looking forward to another GREAT year and we hope you will join us!
The wahoo bite has been fantastic so far, of course week days and Sundays have been easier on us with less crowds.
Paully and I teamed up at the....  Read More

I can't say anything else about the offshore fishing except—IT”S ON. The Tuna bite has gone absolutely crazy over the past few days. The Yellow fin and Black Fin were literally sitting next to the boat waiting to be hand-fed. All of the Tuna fish were caught on chum and the Wahoo came off of diving lures. The Yellow fin ranged in size from 50lbers. up to 130lbers., and the blacks are their....  Read More

  • Winter time wahoo
  • If you can't catch snapper how about some grouper
  • Captain Bradley with another giant wahoo
The fishing has been really good off the coast of Louisiana so far this year. There has been a lot of big tuna caught off of the lump. The big wahoo have showed up. Capt. Paul and Capt. Bradley went out last week and went 8 for 10 for wahoo, the biggest being over 80 lbs. They caught most of the wahoo on Makiara pulling lures and several on the X-raps. There has been a lot of bait close in....  Read More

My son caught this AJ last Saturday fishing the rigs out of South Pass. Hell of a fight for about 20 minutes. We also caught a few other AJ's, Almacos and Scamps. Good trip!

It has been extremely hot this winter, and I'm not talking about outside being 40°-60° Almost every day this January! I'm in reference to the pelagic fish bite! It has been absolutely phenomenal!! With multiple large yellowfins tons of blackfins, and in the past 2 weeks, the huge wahoos have showed up! With some days resulting in bringing back plenty of each species! Very few days have been a....  Read More

I am in need of a deck hand for this fishing season. If anyone wants to come aboard let me know and let me know your experience. Must have transportation to the Cocodrie/Dularge area. A Captain/deck hand would be great.

  • Studs from last year almost week to date.
  • 94lber for Bordelon
  • Another solid wahoo from here in Venice.
Well, its that time again. I have been busy winding down my hunting season. Guns are put up and everything is stowed away. Its been a good one but its time to get back to fishing. The wahoo should be right on schedule and with the passing of the last full moon it should be on! I have an immediate opening this Wednesday here out of Venice. Winds out the north and the fish will be close. The tuna....  Read More

This is this Tennessee boy's first post so hopefully y'all won't run me off! Went out of Venice for my first time this year and had a blast! Tried for tuna but we didn't have the right bait. Needed the smaller baits. Did get into some nice kings and this nice AJ. Can't wait to go back!

In the summer when I found that nest of giant yellow edge groupers, I got extremely lucky that they were all big none of them was under 12 pounds!! I caught 18 of them that were over 20lbs, plus four for the record books in the 30 pound range! So what I'm saying is wintertime is allegedly the migration of big grouper, yeah they do somewhat migrate! That spot that found, which by the way there....  Read More

Also going to the floaters is awesome right now, with most captains hauling in 8 to 12 solid 70 to....  Read More
