Heard they had been killing a few nice ones on the family property so I got in stand at 530 on dec 29 and saw a deer at 610 walking in the water only 40 yards ahead of me, but couldnt see what it was and At 715 it walks out on a lane cut 8 yards wide. When they come out they don't stay long usually walk across quick. So before seeing it was a buck I grabbed my gun and stuck it out the window..... Read More
I killed my 8 point, 180 pound buck with a 17 3/4 inside spread, during Christmas break. I was so excited, that I lost my gun in the woods, and did not find it until 2 weeks later.
Just wanted to share the 2 bucks that i closed the deal on the last week of muzzleload area 6

The Grande River had flooded out the town and we were fortunate enough to be on the high ground. All of the deer from town came to the property and the bucks hit their rut as well. Perfect storm.
We heard this buck lose a fight with another buck and got him while he was running away.
The next evening I passed on a buck much bigger than this on three occasions.
After sitting in the stand since 1:30 and passing on several bucks God finally answered the prayer that we prayed at 3:00 to send kicker to use. At 4:45 he showed up at 300 yards. What a long wait it was for my 10 year old to let him get close enough and present us with a human shot. I am extremely proud of him for calming his nerves to pull off that long of a shot. It wasn't easy for the little.... Read More
I had always told Camden that if he held out for a decent rack buck for his first buck, I'd shoulder mount it for him. After hunting with me for two seasons, letting MANY bucks walk, he finally gets this nine point.. a month later, a ten point walked out in front of him... now i have to mount two.. lol. At eight years old, I think he's hooked.
Finally connected on the 'boxerhead' buck after three years worth of trail cam pictures he came out this evening 2.01.13. I put a bolt through him at about 20 yards. This buck has never had any horns. First one I have ever seen.

Thirteen-year-old Reilly Helm of Baton Rouge killed this buck weighing 176 pounds on her grandfather’s property located near St. Francisville, Louisiana. Reilly has killed her fair share of deer starting at age eight but decided at the beginning of the 2011 season she would “hold out” for a wall hanger. She learned the valuable lesson of patience as she went many hunts not seeing deer or passing.... Read More
Finally caught up with this six and half year old whitetail that I had spent some amount of time looking for.The first trail camera photo of him I had gotten was on October the 30th and from that moment forward I knew I was looking for one deer. Also soon realized that I had seen him before one time two years ago and also had just a couple of photos of him from that year. I never really thought.... Read More
Mr. Glynn Harris was gracious enough to just post the story about this buck. I just wanted to share a few more pictures of him for those who are interested. Killed Monday, 1-21-13, in Tensas Parish at Winter Quarters Hunting Camp. Sported 11 points and was measured at 149 5/8 inches. Deer of a lifetime as far as I'm concerned. Lots of thanks to my buddy Lane Cox who put me on this stud!
