Had pretty good morning fishing yesterday. Plenty of Reds and a few specks... But question is this... Being I am a sport fisher I am required to have all safety gear on board including running lights. Are commercial fishermen exempt from having required running lights??? I met up with an oyster boat yesterday morning which never slowed and was running in the dark without a light what so ever! .... Read More
This past week has been jam packed with great redfishing down in Bayou Dularge, LA. This time of year we follow the reds to the deep holes and ambush them with nothing but the cracked crab. All of the major arteries leading to and from the major lakes are holding fish in the 20 ft plus holes of the bends in the channels. It's almost too easy! We look for this action to last through the.... Read More
The fishing at Sweetwater Marina in Delacroix today was action packed. In Black Bay they were catching beautiful Trout. Most were caught around the rigs, Stone Island and at some of the other usual spots in Black Bay. Reds were also caught today in the interior marshes. Most fish were caught with live shrimp. We have about 6000 beautiful shrimp in the tanks. So give the weather a check and.... Read More

It felt great hooking up with my high school friend for some good Louisiana fishing. Best of all, we hooked up on lots of fish! It was surely a blast. We went to Point Aux Chenes to fish some of the areas I mainly fish and it definitely paid off. He told me itís been a while since he caught some Redfish so I was determined to find a good school of fish to at least get him his limit to take home..... Read More
Friend went beach crabbing a week ago on Elmer's and did well. Now I read crabbing is not allowed on Elmer's due to restrictions. Asked friend and they said beach had many people crabbing and wildlife and fisheries was present. Anyone know what the deal is? Can we crab on Elmer's or not?
My family have been lucky enough to get stationed in NO for the next few years (a welcome change after several tours overseas). We are trying to determine where to live. I am from Florida and love to fish inshore, I have a small bay boat that I plan to put to work in Louisiana. I will be working out of the Corps of Engineers Office, which is pretty much downtown.
Are any fishing and tackle shops in Terrebonne or Lafourche Parish carrying the new Vortex Shad 'Purple Haze', 'Blazin Hornet' and 'Shrimp Cocktail' colors? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Scott Deshotel with Vesco Rental and Billy Broussard were back on the Big Bluewave today. Trout is what the guys wanted and trout is what they got!! We picked away at the fish at our first couple spots. Our third stop is where we found the motherload!! The trout were Stacked and hungry for our double rigged avocado Matrix and purple Haze Vortex Shad. We had the fish coming in 3-6 at a time.... Read More
Billy Gray and his family jumped onboard the big Bluewave with me. We departed the Reel Inn in the dark headed South for trout! We were greeted with perfect conditions weather wise, but very little tide movement. Arriving on location I thought we would murder the fish like yesterday.....not!! It was pick pick pick pick. With just six fish iced down in the K2 at 7:30 I had to make a move. .... Read More
Fun day on the water with newlyweds, Ryan and Paige Frye. This trip was part of their honeymoon and man it was a blast. The wind was pretty stiff so we stayed in Bay Eloi for most of the day. We put a great box of fish together with a total of 50 specks, 2 reds, and 2 heads.
Jakamo South is a New Orleans fishing charter operating out of Shell Beach,LA
Spent a fun Saturday night in the marsh with Chris James and crew. Dirty water made the fish hard to see in our first location. Made a little move and started seeing some nice redfish, drum, sheephead and a ton of alligator garfish.
The guys hit some and missed some but it was fun and big smiles by all. A good first trip for the new dual Gator Tail rig. It is rigged and ready so please call.... Read More
We had a really great week catching redfish. I ran trips from Falgout Canal in Dularge and Sharky's landing by Lake Boudreaux and found the redfish stacked up in both areas. We all had 1/2 oz Johnson gold spoons tied on and that was all we needed. Mostly sight casting to tailing and fish pushing. Nice schools of up to 30 fish with their tails out of the water in a foot of water and some smaller.... Read More

Good morning everyone, I recently started a blog about the passion, search and targeting of trophy trout, as well as writing and reflecting on the time spent growing up on the Louisiana Delta. My homewaters are Port Sulphur, but I fished all over. Now that I'm in the Air Force, I hardly make it back and if so its just to visit family, but my search for big trout continues wherever I'm....
