Anyone know what the fishing is like in the Galveston Bay area? What is the population of specs/reds like compared to an area like cocodrie or Big Lake? Will be spending some time in Houston and I am trying to figure out if it is worth towing the boat or not.

Good morning guys. It has been sometime since I have made a post simply due to the fact of nothing to report other than the obvious. Enough of that. It seems our summer has come and gone and fall will be soon upon us. I ran north from Port Eads yesterday morning at daylight heading north and flocks of pintails were flying high above the river. The amount of teal in the area right now is strong..... Read More
My friend Archie and I found a few hours before the LSU game to bring the boys Trawling. we only pulled for about 1 1/2 hours before the trawl broke. the boys had a blast picking out the shrimp and the crabs for us to boil later that night. it was fun teaching them how to drive the boat with a trawl in the water, and to read the GPS. hopefully he will be strong enough to pull the ropes and.... Would like an automatic type so the wife can sharpen when ever she needs. Please be specific if you have had good results with a particular model. Thanks for anyone's suggestions/recommendations.
Awesome day on the water today with my six year old son and best friend since high school. We fished from 10-1pm catching our limit of reds. A little bit slower today as they would bite in spurts. It was great to watch my son reel in all these fish as he had a total blast!!! He needed some assistance with some of the bigger fish, but did a great job by himself. Incredible time for sure,.... Trout bite was virtually non-existent for us in the morning as the tide was coming to a halt. Water clarity on the beach was 6 out of 10. Tide finally dropped hard around 830am and the trout started feeding. The.... Read More

I had the good fortune to fish with Lloyd Brandt and his good friend Randy. Randy came in from the Atlanta area. Lloyd taught Randy in college over 10 years ago. Finally got away from the work at the camp and took the kiddos crabbing. Didn't try to catch any reds as I was too occupied helping the kids catch crustations. Wound up with 10lbs of 30ct shrimp which took a good bit of effort to retrieve and a limit of crabs. Kids had a blast got full of mud then I took them to the gulf and let them clean off in the water. Great time. Can't wait for the tides.... Read More
Late Sunday afternoon the winds finally layed down and the Red bite turned on. The last 2 hours of daylight was great with reds busting the water and chasing bait everywhere.
It was a blast to watch and hook up on those marsh reds!
All fish were caught on spoons and spinner baits.
Saturday morning we headed back to the areas we have been catching Reds in the marsh south of Lafitte for the last month or so (East Side of main canal). The wind was kicking our butt and if was hard to fish some of the banks we have done so well on so we moved into the ponds and found a few nice reds along the grass.
We caught our fish on gold and silver spoons along with spinner baits.
Saturday afternoon we made our way from Lafitte to Grand Isle to bring a few friends in hopes of getting into some Bull Red Action. It did not take long and we were hooked up and having a blast.
Allen and Carla along with BIL (Brother-in-law) Boated some very nice Bulls.
We caught all ourBulls on Live Pin Fish fished on the bottom.

I have never fished Hopedale/Shell Beach but hope to soon. Where is the MRGO blocked? Is it blocked between Hopedale and Shell Beach? I want to fish the rocks according to the tide and need to know where to launch to get to either side. Thanks for some advice. Also, can I get live shrimp down there?
Took a trip with father-in-law and his neighbor's son (Nathan) yesterday. Nathan just graduated high school and doesn't get the chance to fish too often; we were looking to put him on the fish and Port Sulphur didn't disappoint.
